To me it sounds like Mamie Smith,I'm almost sure I can recognise her voice (I have her CDs) if I listen with eyes closed I would say its Mamie...or was young Ethel perhaps imitating her?

Definitely Ethel Waters.The Jazz Masters were members of Fletcher Henderson's Orchestra.
