  • Lovely.TY Carters01 for posting.

  • June was the Lucille Ball of country music. A natural performer, and a great songwriter. She is sorely missed.

  • Johnny Cash wrote "Walk the Line". The unique chord progression for the song was inspired by an accidental backwards playback on Cash's tape recorder while he was in the Air Force. Later, he wrote the lyrics in a backstage dressing room in Gladewater, Texas in 1955,

. He wrote it for his first wife, Vivian Liberto.

  • @MrHelms25 The song was written in 1956, originally recorded at Sun Studio on April 2, 1956, and was released on May 1 of that year.

  • Amazing harmony........how often do you hear songs like this in 2011?

It's all long gone now. Anita had an amazing set of pipes, and a healthy set of 'lungs' as well.......

  • The Carters are addictive to listen to! Truly blessed of God with talent, and wonderful people!

  • beautiful thank u very much indeed

  • I hope record execs read some of the comments here regarding today's terrible, commercial music that's geared to kids who don't know any better. It's about time someone stepped up to the plate and gave us good, honest music.

  • Just awesome music that stands the test of time and all genres! Thank you

  • great video thanks for posting!

  • they are good

  • WOW, that is what harmony is all about!!! Beautiful voices and in the ending notes you can hear Mother Maybelle's voice ring through clear as a bell.

  • Lovely!!

  • im 11 and love this

    XD

  • I was Born in 1993 so i'm proud to say I was born in the Johnny Cash period

    1932 - 2003 RIP Mr. Cash

  • good version of johnny´s song

  • wooweee!!! nice song!! =)

  • This is good singing!

  • I was born in cough, cough, wheeze. sniff sniff. How honest am I? I do love the Carters, all of em! They're mine..

  • ha ha too funny!

  • Dang nice clear picture. Love the Carters.

  • Beautiful version! Wow! I love Myabelle's

    guitar, which Helen was playing!

  • wow! Nice version! :P

It's the first time I hear this from the Carter Family! Really! Thank you for posting this video! :-)

  • I was born in 1976 in Germany and i say it is Music for all times!

  • Perfect

  • Anita Carter - gorgeous voice and gorgeous figure!

  • I wish I was born alot earlier so that I could live through the 50s, 60s, and 70s. I love music and music seemed alot more fun these days. Not as much about making hits and earning millions of dollars as it is today mostly. At many parts of my life I'm glad that I'm young now but when it comes to music I would rather have been young around the 60s and 70s

  • so true so true.. me too. When are you born then? I am born in -91 so I'm 18. But I do wish that I was born earlier when it comes to music =)

  • I was born in 88.

  • me too. I wish I could meet a girl like Anita in this day and age.. when she was that age. oh man

  • I do too. i was born in '87 I love old music!

  • Same as you guys. Music from my generation (the current one, I was born in '94) sucks arse. It's all manufactured. If I could live in any other place/time it'd be 1950s America.

  • I was born in '92, and I think the same thing. My friend had a go at me when I told her I was born too late. She was going on about how women weren't allowed to vote, and they weren't allowed to work. She was so wrong. Kate Sheppard got women the vote in like, 1893. And women had jobs and did what they wanted!!

  • @adcooper21 I was born in 1995 and so do I

  • @Vanhallo I agree with you, at least you can watch them on YouTube now . In those days you could see singers on TV/radio only or in a concert.

  • @Vanhallo ME TOO!!

  • Fantastic

  • Wow!!!! What a family!

  • June did in fact write this song among others that Jhonny cash sang

  • Huh? Johnny wrote this song. You're probably confusing it with "Ring of Fire"

  • She also wrote Shantytown (w/ John)and many other John songs.

  • yeah dude, june carter didnt write any of johnny stuff....maybe ring of fire, but we dont really know for sure

  • It is certain, that she wrote "Ring of Fire" (together with Merle Kilgore). She also wrote "Nobody Cared", which John had recorded on the live album "At Osterâker Prison", made in a swedish penententiary on October 3rd, 1973.

  • I think it was in 1972!

  • I just checked it out - yes you're right it was in 1972!

  • She also wrote Shantytown (w/ John) and many other John songs.

  • Well there is a performance of Ring of Fire on here and Johnny says himself that June wrote it. June didn't write this one, though.

  • She did wrote Ring of Fire for Johnny

  • June Carter and Merle Kilgore wrote Ring of Fire initially for Anita Carter who recorded it first. Johnny had a dream of the song accompanied by French Horns. He asked Anita if he could record it when it stopped getting air time for her.

  • correction mexican Horns

  • june carter looks nice

  • Vivian did not write the song, Johnny did. Songs have been written for people many times and recorded by other artists; it just increases the popularity of the song.

  • Amen, there was no disrespect intended, I guarantee that. A song is just that...a song. Songs are recorded and sang by all sorts of individuals. If something is meant to be personal it isn't published and commercialized for the world to have. It is kept in a private, personal place. I'm sure that it was originally written for Vivian who was a fine lady but there was NO disrespect intended by the Carters singing it

  • no actually june carter wrote it about her love for johnny cash. and it was originally sang by her sister but it didnt sell so johnny cash did it.

  • Some confusion here; Walk The Line was written by Johnny Cash. Ring of Fire was written by June Carter and Merle Kilgore, first recorded by Anita Carter and then later by Johnny Cash with the horns added.

  • yea your right

  • @TeXaSsNoBunnY June and John were'nt together at that time. Not til 1963.

  • @TeXaSsNoBunnY so it goes with folk and country songs. everyone sings them, changes them just a little differently, spreads the song around a little more.

  • Great harmony

  • I love how they sound like one person at times but I can always pick Anita's beautiful voice out. Just great, thanks for posting.

  • this is a great vid didn't really see june carters sisters in film walk the line just the mum and dad

  • You can actually see an actress playing Anita Carter next to the stage, when Reese does Jukebox Blues (next to her Mother Maybelle). It's just a short clip. I missed a song with Reese (as June) in the Carter ensemble...

  • I think you can see Anita at the dinner in Johnny's new house as well. June is sitting beside her mum and Anita beside their dad on the other side of the table. Correct me if I'm wrong... But yes, it's a pity they didn't do a Carter sisters song :(

  • I really enjoyed this! Thanks so much for posting it!

  • They are all wonderful in this.....very nice

  • LOVELY SONG THIS MADE MY DAY

  • Did'nt Anita have a beautiful voice?

  • i think its cute how they all match haha. I'm not gonna lie, june looks weird with that head band :)
