  • Is it hard to play a Violin???!

  • @pis0tsss Super hard.

  • @pis0tsss Actually it's easy, but the hard part is: INTERPRETATION!

  • Tessa Lark is good.

  • omg please teach mi how to do that i am a violenist i need to know how to play it !!!!!!! need to

  • The fingers never looks so beautiful as when they are moving along a violin. It truly is gorgeous. She also sounds great. Very lovely intonation.

  • This video is a wonderful lesson in visual vibrato technique. I have been visiting Professor Sassmannshaus's website violinmasterclass What a wonderful teach and most valuable tool for violin students of all ages and levels. Wonderful performance Ms.Tessa Lark. Bravo!!!

  • she's meant to play the violin she can really hear the music :D

  • who wrote that cadenza?

  • @MsMonnana Joseph Joachim

  • @MsMonnana Sam Franco

  • What a lovely concerto. Tessa Lark is a wonderful artist.

  • Hi fellow violinist here. She is beautiful and her playing is fantastic! Where can I get her number?

  • I would love to hear you perform Carmen fantasy now. It was pretty good before and you're really good now!

  • that is incredible, so incredible. you know violin is the type of instrument where you make one mistake or if you simply don't play confidently people don't ever want to hear you again. this girl is just flawless and did everything patiently, made it look easy when it isnt

  • I can first hand tell the critics to go study Violin and then put their remarks up!!! Fabulous job!!!! Tessa!!! you are brilliant!

  • It looks hard!! You did a very great job! :O

  • Great job! I was especially impressed by the intonation. Except for a few notes, it was perfectly in tune.

  • people who are argueing about bow holds--stop being a bunch of snobs!!

  • which cadenza is this???

  • Musical and very clean playing. Forget about the perfect bow hold.

  • what's the name of the piece? It's a cadenza, alright, but l can only find 3 movements of cadenza with the 4th concerto ... and it's defenetly not the third movement... sorry the dumb question :x

  • @kschiavo it's the cadenza by Franko to the first mov't of Mozart violin concerto #3 in G

  • Franko!

  • lindo, Choreiiiiiii

  • Dear, God

Please take back Beiber and give us Mozart back

  • @PlusMaka Reason?

  • @PlusMaka Right on!

  • how did she get out of kitcken again?

  • @ronaldinhoca sexist, arent you .

  • I want this cadenza. Where can I find it. The music that I have has a different cadenza but I like this one better. If you can tell me I thank you. The cadenza is the last part of this concerto I have to master.

  • her technique is very good, but her feelings aren't that great

  • where can i download cadenza

    i love that part

    only violin

  • well, when playing the violin, your wrist should not break.

  • nice, but she kind of sounds like all the little starling robots...

  • Anyone who can't appreciate the marvelous accomplishments of this beautiful young lady violinist is a jealous and ignorant fool.

  • Oh why can't we all just get along? Criticism hurts my feelings and makes me want to go to my room and pout. If we only knew how we hurt one another with our words.

No seriously I think that if someone is to offer some criticism then they should be ready to back it up by posting a video to show us how it's done. Wouldn't you say?

  • Her bow hold is her style, she really has beautiful bow control, so it works for her!

  • Comment removed

  • This cadenza is really intricate and harmonized well! The player really believes in what she is playing. It in tune too!

    Well done!

  • This cadenza is really intricate and harmonized well! The player really believes in what she is playing.

    Well done!

  • Damn girl, I wish i could play like you...

  • For those wondering, this cadenza is by Sam Franko.

  • Uhh I have a Cadenza in A major -Andante cantabile- Mozart- I've been trying to find a video for it so I can learn

    help please?

    I believe its second movement...

  • @msezlong23 Did you find this cadenza? It's by Sam Franko, G. Schirmer, vol.1580

  • Tessa Lark is amazing and if you don't think so then you need your head examined. Why do I think she's amazing? Great sound, great articulation, extraordinarily beautiful and accurate style with a flair for mature interpretation, fantastic intonation. She's a thoroughly-trained violinist and the hard work this level of playing took on her part is worthy of immense admiration. Peace.

  • This is amazing!!! Im doing this song for a solo ensemble contest and in not gonna be as amazing as her!!

  • anyone have sheet music for this cadenza?

if so plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz e-mail me !! i really need this.

reply to this comment, and i will post my e-mail.

    THanks,

  • anyone who thinks this is bad is crazy her playing changed my life

  • 7 people are jealous because their old and cant play like her

  • wonderful, indeed.

  • su tecnica es realmente buena.....pero tiene esa forma cuadrada tipica de aquellos que tocan porque sus padres asi dijeron, no porque sintieran un gusto real por el violin

  • this is my favorite cadenza for mozart 3 :)

  • Very Cool!

  • No tengo palabras...

  • Lovely:)

  • Damned Good!!!

  • are there different recordings in this? At one point there's a man behind her, then women, and sometimes she's in pitch black! :S

  • you know what i hate?

when people state their age and say they're playing it as well

    jeez

  • @jwjl2006 Yep ,we don't give a fuck what age they are playing. There will always be a younger chinese anyway.

  • Which version of this cadenza is?

  • whos this cadenza by?

  • BRAVO!!!!

  • nice phrasing, makes me want to practice my own....

  • im 11 nd im playin this piece

  • @sori101gy

@bbbrotman guys, instead of showing off, you need to learn some humility or you'll never make it I'm afraid. Who am i kidding, the cockiest bastards make it all the time, but I'm sure everyone would like you more if you were modest.

  • Perfect, what a protige

  • im 13 and i can play this

  • *sigH* i wish i could do this

    *resumes practice*

    *messes up*

    AHH!

  • Wow, amazing. My favorites are the chords at :24-:27, beutiful, stunning job.

  • awsome solo, there should have been room on the clip to hear the applause, id be cheerin like mad

  • omg i have to admit the first split second i saw her appearance & posture i wouldnt have thought she could play so well but wow her intonation is flawless & her sound is just pure gold wow amazing

  • I dont understand why this video is actually a combination of a studio recording and a recording from a concert (notice the changing background) but otherwise brilliantly played!

  • do any1 know where i can find this cadenza?

  • @plutonium142 Its the Sam Franko Cadenza, Its a lot harder than it sounds. If you get the Barenreiter Edition of this Concerto.. Its like a red book with a Gold Label at the front (its by far the best copy of the peice)It comes with the Piano Accompianent, The Urtext edition of the concerto (copied EXACTLY from Mozarts origional manuscript) it comes with a version with Bowings and fingering allready on it (the one i use) and it also comes with a shitload of cadenzas including that one!

  • @bajae135 i actually think the cadenza is pretty easy and i learned it in about a week

  • This is stunning. Wow.

  • Lovely tone. Great confidence on the difficult non-vibrato doublestops. And the Chilli peppers have never been the same since Cliff Martinez left.

  • Thank God he left though, or we would have never had the brilliant original score to Solaris.

  • Or Traffic. Or Narc. Or Wicker Park. One the underrated greats.

  • Up until the rit. on the A and C double stop and the trilling at the end are the hardest parts for me >.> But she plays perfectly in tune!

  • "I can't listen to music when THINGS are happening in front of my face!"

The Chili Peppers are good, but I wish they wouldn't move around so much when they play. That is the worst thing ever! It makes their music suck."

Matt and rocketgirl would be poor audience members: always bitching about movement.

"There, y'see where Flea jumps off the amp and Anthony Keidis pretends to kung-fu punch him? That is distracting to me and other concert participants, and they should stop it."

  • really good! but i think her bow hold needs some work. she needs to relax it! but i love the way she plays!

  • Unless you can play like this, i suggest that you dont correct her.

  • i love how you talk about "bow hold needs some work"

that's like saying, she needs to fix herself

    thanks for the vague tip

i suggest you go and practice instead of giving your useless criticism where none is needed

  • @246trinitrotoluene but i agree with who ever said that. her hold is pretty tense. Needs to relax a bit. constructive criticisms only help musicians grow.

  • @246trinitrotoluene Thank you! So tired of these armchair experts!! Beautiful playing, bravo!!

    Happy Birthday to W.A.Mozart, january 27 1756!

  • @246trinitrotoluene they mean that her bow hold is stiff. also she is using mostly her whole arm to play. finally her bow fingers (as in the constant movement of the wrist and fingers every stroke) are lacking. Not the best violinist I've seen.

  • @fireandblazes26

We're watching a student play, an extremely talented student. I wasn't aware that the video claimed she was the best.

  • @246trinitrotoluene Well, did I mention that it said it in the video? No. I am trying to explain that her bow hold is mediocre. Please read I am trying to say.

  • @fireandblazes26

I read what you said but I disagree.

The way people hold the bow, outside of obvious bad form is very subjective. Everyone's body is built differently which is why some people have hitchhikers thumb and some turn their left hand all the way around. French/Russian bow holds are very different, yet both have their strengths. Perlman, who I think has perhaps the best bow control of all players, frequently plays without his pinky finger.

There's more to it than just textbook.

  • @246trinitrotoluene I understand what you are saying, but when a student performer is playing, she should use a good bow hold- when you are professional, you can use whatever you want because you know what to do.

  • I played this in eighth grade, and it is HARD. until you see the music, you don't understand the difficulty of some of those passages, and that is one of the great beauties of Mozart. She pulled it off beautifully, but everything can always use more heart in a piece like this, you can't fill music with enough heart...it's impossible

  • she plays in tune, but she doesn't seem like she actually likes the piece. if she moved a little bit more with her music then the piece would be a bit more beautiful

  • That is an utterly bombastic comment. Do you even believe that nonsense?

Moving distracts the audience (and me as a player). Just watch Janine Jansen.

  • @musicmatt09 movement is not distracting. if you do it right, it adds to the music and i get more into my piece when i move.

  • @vballluvr29 How does it add to music? I know a lot of poor musicians that move a lot when they play. To the contrary, I know more apt musicians that do not move.

  • @musicmatt09 it shows that you are into the music. i like to move with my music because that's how i learned it feels weird just staying still. i personally prefer it when musicians move with their music, but everyone has his own opinions.

  • @vballluvr29 - Sorry, but Matt is right. Movement is distracting and detracts from the quality of music being played. There is nothing worse than going to a concert only to be subjected to the violent, seizure-like movements of the performer.

  • Don`t look. Listen.

  • now THAT is fucking in tune!

  • This is flawless. Dont even attempt to criticize perfection if you can't generate it yourself lol

  • perfect!

  • quite inelegant

  • i agree with you, it sounds a little like a machine, it needs more heart

  • Is some one can send me sheet's of Cadenze

  • OMG this is so good! i just started working on this cadenza and it sounds HORRIBLE! no...way beyond horrible. haha bravo!

  • yes.. the cadenza is very hard. I am doing the same piece.

the trick is really to play the hard parts really slow and make sure the intonation is right.. :)

  • @punchaloo no, the trick is to avoid getting frustrated and throwing ur instrument against the wall.... which i almost did yesterday.

    great job!

  • she has no personality of playing.

  • what? you must be kidding or extremely jealous.

  • !!!!???? How dare you!!!!??! :D JK

  • Anybody who can play Mozart's 3rd with expression that's reeled in by a steady emotion which reveals itself through the tempo of the music is ok in my book. What a talent!

  • can you elaborate on that? i'm learning the piece and its reached a plateau, because i'm playing in a completely different manner than its intended to be... and its getting so frustrating, im not sure how to play mozart with expressiveness but still play within the "mozart box"

  • Mozart's music is breathetaking and beautiful. Playing it is NOT just playing the score but feeling through your person. But once you've done that, you still have to contol it inorder to overcome the tendency to "overplay" (over due it with emphisis or emphesizing where on should not) it. It's a very difficult thing to accomplish.

  • yay for double-stops....so difficult

  • wow that is very nice intonation

  • double trills for the win!

  • very true i happen to like it myself

    peter

  • this piece is very unique and she makes it look very easy

  • Beautiful!

  • i love her vibrato

  • She makes it look easy but that last extended trill at 2:17ish is a killer to play. It's actually 2 trills - 1 and 2 on the E and 3 and 4 on the A. Talk about a handful!

  • trilling thirds etudes as a prerequisite to this cadenza are actually the most handful

  • Great ! (and she's very beautiful)

  • pretty good

  • bruv dis is sick u got sum tight notes der rudegirl!!!! oi all dem wastemanz stop hatin

  • Why do you have to write like you're so uneducated? I'm sure you can spell but I can't understand why you have to make yourself appear so disreputable?

  • im glad she did the 4 string crossing part near the end of the cadenza, my violin teacher's teacher didnt make her do so she wasnt gonna make me do it, but I am gonna try. This is probably the most fun cadenza I have ever played. Tessa did a phenomenal job

  • ugh the cadenza is so hard. trying to learn it :/ she does an amazingg job (:

  • stern is proer k226 search and see his face then listen to him, agical!

  • Certified Intergalactic!

  • Fantastica, una afinación increible para su edad.

  • arrgg i doubt i can ever learn this cadenza >:[

  • OMG! how old is she?? she is soo good!

  • This is pretty! I want to learn how to play this...

  • HOW OLD IS SHE?? she is awesome!!!

im 12 and playing this and ik i will never play as good as her

  • I believe she was 14 at the time.

  • @surge2004 ok that makes me feel a little better....if she was like 12 id be so jealous haha. but i still cant play nowhere good as her haha

  • @gopets321 she can't even hold her horses not to mention her f-ing notes... if you wouls have any sound sensibility you would know she was off a couple of times

  • muy buena musica

  • BEAST!

    amazingg.

i'm playing that now. not even close...

  • jealousyy D:<

    some people are so talented.

  • Awesome! I like this cadenza best of all!

  • Are you joking? Her chords are pretty much perfectly in tune. She's playing this exactly as the music is written. Look at her poise as she plays these chords, it's impeccable. How could you say that she needs to practise? She is most likely better than you or I.

  • I agree..beautifully played and by no means an "easy" cadenza if you want to make it sound like this--this reflects lots of practice and hard work. She is quite impressive

  • @freakgrl But she is NOWHERE near as skilled or talented as Nicole Oswald.

    Case.

    Closed.

  • dude you have no idea what your talking about only about 2 of her thirds were flat the rest were all perfect

  • r u death or sumthin?the whole beauty of the way she played came from the perfect perfection!!! she might be abit stiff and not move as much as vengerov does but the who cadenza was nearly as perfect as it could be!!!lol

  • I just ordered this cadenza..the Franko. I had to order another entire copy of Mozart 3 in order to get it because I couldn't purchase it alone..I got it in the Schirmer edition which clearly says "with Franko Cadenza" and it follows this note for note and I use this as a reference..so I just don't know and can't speak for the discrepancy. I looked at the Joachim, Ysaye. Oistrakh, Francescatti, Franko and preferred this one. You can look at some at Everynote...Franko is hard to find.

  • Where did you find the Joachim cadenza for this? thanks.

  • The Joachim edition was available at the on line (down load and print) service..trying to think of the name of it...very inexpensive because you only have to pay for the cadenza..explore the internet a bit and you will easily find it.

  • @OriginalMoonbeam gosh mb, there you go ticking people off with your being right..because this IS the Franko cadenza--and you know how people hate being wrong..and they are going to start giving you the thumbs down if you tell them the right information...they can't handle it. It's what you get for being such a nice person.

  • @Violinjunky That was just some kid eons ago who didn't believe there was such a thing as the "Franko" cadenza and didn't want to be wrong..no worries.

  • @thbx81 This cadenza is actually by Sam Franko. You must be mistaken. If you have the music with the cadenza by Joachim, then while you listen to this video, I recommend that you check her playing with your music. This is definitely Sam Franko. I know because I have the music and have compared this video with it.

  • I have been looking everywhere for a great recording of this cadenza and I definitely found it! : )

  • love the cadenza and wonderful soloist beautiful sound and pretty too

  • interesting to see her place her fingers as holders to find the notes, very good idea!

  • ahh yes i'm going to try that!

  • i'm playing this at the moment for conservatoire auditions :S

    It's by Sam Franko, i checked :)

  • this cadenza is in the schirmers edition of the concerto, for one, thats the only one i know of.

  • beautiful!
