  • "I hate to see that written on a menu: 'Chicken King' - seems like a criticism of my courage!"

  • Our school's doin this:) I'm the herald's trumpet person/ensemble/orchestra/whatever they make me do:P

  • my school is doing this musical and i got the part of the stepmother, needless to say im excited

  • My goodness - no one can surpass the golden ability of Julie Andrews in acting. Such a legend!! <33

And while watching this unsurmountable classicc I was singing along with every song hahaha, especially due to me watching the great '97 version as well.

  • Lea Michele should play Cinderella!!

  • i could listen to julies voice every second of my life. she sounds the same here as the sound of music. i think she is in her early 20's here. her voice is so strong. we need more julie andrews in the world. i wonder if se reads the comments about herself. if she does: I LOVE YOU JULIE YOU INSPIRE ME!

  • i love Julie Anderson!

  • @CrazyComedy99 Julie Andrews.

  • i'm doing a community theater performance of this show this summer and its fun because its almost like this is a community theater performance! looove it

  • Seeing this it makes you realize "oh my goodness, she's aged beautifully."

  • I was in the scene: "The Chef And the Stewart", and I was a dancing servant! I was sick and didn't turn up at the show, however I called, but they kicked me out...That sucked!

  • is there another version that has the same songs?

  • Hmm, I noticed that in this version, as she is white, she says young Norwegian princess. For Brandy, they changed it to young Egyptian princess. Probably one of the only things they did that discriminates racially.

  • @BlueAnchorAriel They also changed the lyric slave to thief.

  • Julie, always pretty.

  • Julie's high register as a young person was weak and nasal till she gave birth her voice became bigger ;)

  • This TV special was shot live! It's amazing all they accomplished! Julie writes about it in her autobiography Home. She is an amazing woman and such an inspiration to girls worldwide!

  • @lezalee273

This is often referred to as Cinderella was and always will be the most widely-watched television event in history. The 1957 production has been estimated to have had 107 million viewers (60% of the U.S. population at the time). It HAD to be broadcast live as early commercial videotape was still getting the kinks out. Actor Jon Cypher took a walk a few minutes after the production finished and was astonished to find the streets of NYC all but deserted.

  • is it just me or does the prince look like Ralph Fiennes?

  • i was just watching a "sound of music" documentary a couple weeks ago, and julie andrews mentioned she had done cinderella, and i just had to find it because i'm a huge fan of hers! she does these songs justice more than brandy ever did!

  • @jooodlez Now where can I find that documentary?? Pretty please!! :)

  • @Selumgirl it's in the 40 year anniversary DVD release of the sound of music

  • @jooodlez yes and bare in mind that Rodgers & Hammerstein wrote them especially for Julie!

  • Who plays the queen? Is that Glinda from Wizard of Oz?

  • @PhilipB2010 no, Billie Burke would have been about 70 at that time. It's Dorothy Stickney.

  • Julie Andrews you truly are awe inspiring.

  • my favorite song in the show

  • =O I read Julie did this in her book but I had no idea it was up on youtube! Thanks for posting!!! A real joy to see. =]

  • Thank you so much for this movie, I've been looking for it for ages ^^

And I think this is the best version so far (I mean of all the remakes with the same songs and everything like the one by Disney)

    xo

  • TTTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNKKKKKKKKK YYYYOOOOOUUUUU SSSSOOOO MMMMUUUUUUCCCHHHHHH I have an ACADECA tom. and this was the only movie i was missing

  • @Infernape250 Good luck! :D

  • Ha Ha Ha I learned a lesson

music and fine arts are 1 subject. (ill be sure to tell next years deacthetes that)

  • Julie will live forever! I love "Your Majesties" so much, it the funniest scene ever!

  • Prince's GORGEOUS! u can tell its Amer. cuz he bowed to his father the king...normaly, protocol states that only staff curtsies to them, not family to family unless marrying in a church and exit to curtsy to the monarch other than that they dont.....

  • The king and queen in this version beats every one else in every of the Cinderella versions available on YouTube.

  • @DruidGrieta Gotta agree with you there! :)

  • There's something Brandy will never have: one of the greatest singing voices of the 20th (and for that matter, the 21st) century.

Julie may have lost her voice, but we will always have her many recordings and films.

  • "That's all you've done for the last five years--gain weight." Haha, the queen is so feisty in this version.

  • Wow -- a LIVE made-for-TV musical by Rogers and Hammerstein. Let's see MTV try and top that!

  • @soulierinvestments You said it!.

    Long live The Big Ampersand!

(My nickname for Rodgers and Hammerstein).

  • @soulierinvestments Exactly they were so loved then they could do anything and do it wonderfully, Cinderella contains one of their best scores.

  • @soulierinvestments They've done that too lol. I watched a version of Legally Blonde that they'd filmed on Broadway - wait do you mean it was a live stream on the day?

  • @soulierinvestments Actually, it's Rodgers, but no matter how you spell it, to me they are 'The Big Ampersand'.

  • You just can't 'remake' a movie with Julie Andrews. It's not really possible. Something is missing in it.

  • "The wine of my country is beer." "obviously" lol

  • This version is cute especially the king and queen lol. I wish Julie still had that gorgeous voice.

  • I love Julie, but I think I like the new version better.

  • Which one? The one with Brandy or the one with Leslie Ann Warren?

  • The one with Brandy

  • She is amazing. How old was she when she did this?

  • 21 (Julie was born on 10-01-1935).

  • Omg Julie is so pretty and wonderful voice aswell the king and queen are so adorable hehe!

  • we did this musical at our school last year....but it just didnt seem right without Julie Andrews

  • most gorgeous voice

  • Who plays the prince?

  • Jon Cypher
