I think youll find that real weapons can be cost prohibitive (when at risk for confiscation). All states and cities do not apply, but in some areas, local residents and law enforcement dont look favorably on public displays of real swords. To prevent the whippy bang bang of wushu blades, I use custom built hardwood replicas. Ive used em in California and Japan with no problems from LE. Still, some people dont care for the high cost of custom woodwork. Low end woodwork can be easily snapped
Are actual combat sabers thicker than these? Because these bend on themselves just from cutting through air. At the imagined point of impact, the tip of the blade is almost touching the mid section.
they are made very flexable when forged to they can cut deeep and retain edge and shade but will bend ithis is a wushu broadsword it flexes dont know much about it but i thing there are broadsword that dont flex but i have seen tai chi and dao that can go over 120 degrees without chipping rolling or loosing shape
Yes, actual chinese dao or sabers are much thicker and heavier. You can purchase both sharpened and unsharpened full weight daos online to practice with.

Just once I would like to see a Chen tai chi sabre form performed without a flimsy wushu broadsword.
