  • WOW! TG for YouTube

  • Oh my!

  • Awesome!

When I was a kid, you were encouraged to play at least piano.

I wish children were still encouraged to play.

These women not only could play...they could SWING.

  • Simply splendid. I heard the profile on NPR yesterday, and I am mulling over the idea of writing a screenplay. Do you suppose Ms. McLawler might be able to direct me to the original charts? It would certainly add to the authenticity. I see the project happening like A League of Their Own, with musicians actually playing their respective instruments. If anyone has any info on the Sweethearts legal representation, or knows where the charts are, please contact me at donstitt.com . Thanks.

  • My late dad, Eddie Durham (DurhamJazz com) was the Musical Director for this Band. I am also in touch with living legend organist SARAH MCLAWLER, who hasn't recorded in 50 years, but will release a new CD "UNDER MY HAT" Sept. 7, 2010 - already on Amazon pre-sale...Support this CD!

  • WOW!!!!!! That Pauline Braddy is possibly the Greatest drummer I've ever heard!!!

Including my Favs Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich! WOW!!!!!!!!

"Thank You" tugojackson for putting this on you tube!!!!!!

I knew that the International Sweethearts of Rhythm could swing and Pauline was good, I just din't realize she was such a Powerhouse of rhythm!!!!

    Thank you tugojackson!"

  • They're really good - one of the most entertaining groups I've heard. I really hope I can find some of their recordings.

  • SO INSPIRING, thank you SO much for posting!!!

When do you think women lost the baton and presence?

Do you think it was then they figured out how darned good the ladies could be and it upstaged everyone else?!?

After all, a woman playing like this is SO COOL!!!

    A whole band like this?!?

    SWEET!

  • They were so tight as a band, and such talent! Musical pioneers of their time. Young women now could learn a lot from them.

  • just read an article on them in Reading Jazz. Thank God for YouTube. How Cool.

  • Yeah, by coincidence I just read that, too. Amen to Thank God for YouTube.

  • Wow.Cool coincidence!

  • Simply awesome
