    Peace from Israel!

  • His music will never die.

  • SATAN??LOOK AT THOS EARS!!!LMAO!!

  • nice ears!!!lol

  • Farid was born in Suwayda, Syria to the Druze Atrash family who fought the French Colonial armies. His father was Syrian and mother Lebanese.

  • farid latrash is not syrian ... mn daroos lebnan lived and died in egypt .. he is made in egypt !!! al syrian aaal

  • great

  • Does this have anything to do with islam, or is he a practicing muslim? I'm doing a unit in world cultures and it would be great if anyone could email me about this. thanks guys

  • @sakkorig No im afraid hes not a muslim

  • @weipax Thanks anyways though. And this is wonderful music, Farid is really a master of the oud.

  • @weipax actually he is Druze which is considered a branch of Islam. Fareed may want to consider himself Muslim yet most Muslims will not consider Fareed a Muslim.

  • @glower125 there are no branches in islam, its only ISLAM which is based on gods book The Quran.

  • @sakkorig Farid was a Druze , not sure if music for them is prayer or not, You can check Sufi beliefs, some of their prayers - ways to get close to God - is through music

  • anyone know when (approximately) this was filmed? Where?

The audio is remarkably clear. Fascinating!

  • AMAZING !!!

  • 23 people are either haters or deaf!

  • amazing! what a legend!

  • fantastic!

  • awesome!

  • Awesome...nobody is better than he.

  • 6:00 is even crazier

  • 5:00 Is simply crazy great

  • lol @ 5:30 he starts playing what i think is carlos montoya. This is mindblowing.

  • @roflwaffle12321 it's by ernesto lecuona, called malaguena :)

  • 5:36 malaguena!!!

  • THE KING OF 3OOD

  • Beautiful recording and a very pretty song. I heard of Farid when I was 16 years old. He came out with a song titled something like UA (WA) U YAK, in 1953-54 more or less, and I have not been able to hear it since. I am 76 years old now and remember those beautiful times and the great Farid.

  • reminds me of my childhood..

  • I miss the real arabic music.Simply beautiful.

  • Amazing Farid!

  • Farid was my moms & my uncles idol. One of my uncles sang & played the oud exactly like Farid.People would always ask him to sing Farid songs to every gathering we went to and that's how we grew up loving his music. Now our kids who are all under 10 love his music also. He was a legend!!

  • As long as there are people with ears, hearts and minds, Fareed will live on. His oud technic was extraordinary. In one section of this piece, his oud sounds like two ouds!!

hben2001 asked for sheet music. I don't think there is any, this is all improvised. However, listen to Asturias (composed by Isaac Albeniz) performed by guitarist John Williams on youtube, or on his "Echoes of Spaiun" CD. It is the closest Western music I know of.

  • hi/salam

    i love farid's music.

does anyone have the music sheet for this introduction?.

i'd like to learn to play it.

    thank you.

  • amazing legend...

  • very very good.

  • i would take him instead of my dead, no doubt

  • i would change him to my dad, no question.

  • no one plays the oud like the "King of Oud" !

  • Raw3aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • i wish the crowd wouldve been quiet during the performance

  • Ya salaaaaaaaam!

  • malek el oud we malek el fan

  • Allah Irhamak Ya Farid El-Atrash,he was one of the best OUD player in Egypt.

  • Artists this great will probably never be heard again. Stunning. Long live Al Atrash.

  • In addition to his good character and excellent performance, during his career, Fred distance him self from the erratic politic of his time as he did not engaged in supporting Nasser’s regime and propaganda.

May G-d bless him…Opinion from Egypt

  • @zibalah73 Fred? mate its Farid get it right.

  • Wow good stuff!

  • you people can also try Rabab by typing "Homayun Sakhi(dha hujri maijlas) pashto rabab saaz" in youtube search. its also amazing like this guy.

  • Wow amazing.

I listened Ould musc today in my life and am amused alot with the work of Farid.

  • His name is Fareed Al-Atrash. He is a prince but he and his sister lead a humble life after his family lost their status. He is a Lebanese in origin but lived and died in Egypt. He is an actor, singer, and a musician, just like his sister, Asmehan Al-Atrash.

  • Mistake at 1:02

  • This comment was placed 4 years ago by one of the viewers which i finally came to agree with, after full research. No wonder why he is the best till our present time. If there is someone out there that can beat this man i would be more than happy to listen.

"Here he is....the oud master! In fact all you pansy indie rockers get on yer knees now and hail "YES MASTER" to Farid the KING!"

  • I agree with Ibrahimtarmerm you just call Hamza El din the master,

but we love Farid as he is, that Farid is the master

is a well known fact because we know Farid .

Hamza El din is a great oud player but is not known in the arab world ,it is just like that

I listend to some of his music , with my respect he cann.t be compared with Farid at all

  • @HABARBUR Let's all make music together!

  • @Makrania i wish! it's all fu**ing politics

    peace

  • thanks for your note. farid was a great musician which I am proud of knowing him arabic, whether his mother is from syria or from any other country. Now if it is important for you to know you can check wikipedia for farid el atrach, and if still not convinced check visit-syria and if still not convinced see the book images of enhancement and if still not convinced go to hasbayah and ask about Alia al munzir al atrash mother of asmahan (Amal), farid and Fuad.

  • It doesn't even matter where he's from, thank God he was born to bless us with his genius.

  • Comment removed

  • Anyone who asks Farid was half Jewish half Egyptian

Too bad that today there is no such connections

  • @sason999999999

what are you talking about? Although it shouldn't matter what ethnic group he belongs to he is a great artist and that is all what matters. But if you must know Farid Elatrach lived and had his career in Egypt but his family came from Syria and they are Drooz. All nice good people. thanks.

  • *Lebanese mother syrian father :)

  • no ur wrong both of his parents were syrian

  • Lebanese Mother. Syrian Father.

    Egypt Lineage.

but that´s doesn't matter at all.

he was genius. he was Hero for us Lebanese´s

  • @icebytes Simply said he was Arab.

  • @Hopeful201208865 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO He is not ARAB at all, arbs never been and could not ever go close to that level.

  • @Hopeful201208865 he was from egypte

  • @icebytes I love Syria & Lebanon. But Farid was an Egyptian artist. Farid as an artist has been made in Egypt. Almost all his songs and films are Egyptian. He –himself- was proud to be an Egyptian and he preferred to be buried in Cairo.

  • @mesrlover1 That is true, but you guys never treated him as an Egyptian, you always made him feel a stranger. For that, you all go burn in hell.

  • @romantiquo The competition between the Egyptian artists was usually severe. It looks like a sort of civil war. But the Egyptian people loved Fareed and still love him. His funeral was one of the four great and most attended funerals in the history of Egypt.

  • @mesrlover1 i am sorry sweetie but even if he lived in egypt, he is syrian born. he was buried in cairo because his mom took him and his siblings to egypt to run from his father who was in the war and she didn't want her kids in the middle of the war. they got their citizenship in egypt and never returned to syria. but, still, he is syrian born and a syrian. it doesnt matter where he got famous.

  • @tnutty12 You said it. He came to Egypt when he was a kid. He lived most of his age in Egypt. I know that he worked hard in Egypt. His talents were born & developed there. He was always in Egyptian groups. With very very few exceptions he used in all his songs and films the Egyptian dialects. You cannot imagine them in any other language. They are Egyptian products. I know that he is born in my beloved Levant

  • @mesrlover1 Farid was born in Suwayda, Syria to the Druze Atrash family who fought the French Colonial armies.[3] His father was Syrian and mother Lebanese.[4] As a child, Farid emigrated with his mother and siblings to Egypt, escaping the French occupation. Later, they were naturalized by the Egyptian government as citizens. Farid's mother sang and played the oud, which spurred his musical interest at an early age.

  • @mesrlover1 it honestly doesn't even matter where he was born. my parents were born in syria, and i am first generation here in the states. so, i know a bit about these legends seeing as i grew up listening to them. he is talented and will never be forgotten. but facts are facts. he is syrian born.

  • @tnutty12 Thank you for this valuable information. We agree. He is Syrian born. He is an Egyptian citizen and Egyptian artist. And you are beautiful & smart I am sure

  • pleas i need to know the name of this song i am loking for him a long time tank you

  • the name of the song is : al-rab'ee (spring season).

  • its the first time I listen to farid el atrash.

its the first time I know that he is just that brilliant.

its the first time I know how he is amazing in shredding .

its the first time I enjoy arabic music.

He's genius and breathtaking oud player,he got a unique style and technique in playing oud,and what a solo simply amazing.

  • yes you're right, Fareed Al-Atrash is amazing. if you have enjoyed this then i'm sure you'll enjoy all his other songs.

  • I see u r a big fan of farid el atrash and I must say,u should be,he just compose a purely brilliant music with an amazing oud playing.

  • this guys is the best i have ever seen

i remember this when i was a child and my dad used to listen to Farids music and songs we have old LPs of his stuff along with some others. classic stuff man. i love this music.

  • I LOVE HIM SO MUCH

  • noway. Farid is not only the best, but he must be one of them, and i am sure of that. Farid was and is and will be in hearts of all who love music.

    Thank you Farid7abibi for sharing

thank you youboob have post this video

  • nobody can argue the giant of giants

King Farid you forget that it is a

    composer, pianist. as beethoven

  • farid is a very greta oud player , a muscal genuis but he was not the best or no where near the best !

  • he is the best and number 1

  • that is your opinion. mine is different. when i listen to his 7afalat , i feel he has the best TARAB.

  • farid will always be the best and noone can ever compete wz farid. he is the king

  • oh yes - I almost forgot...Munir Bashir. His recital in Budapest is beyond belief. Much much more talented than ANYTHING I've ever heard from this commercial sell out.

  • Apples and Oranges. Farid was much more than a top oud player. He was equally famous for his singing, composing, and movies... Considered a pioneer of modern Arab music. That is the opposite of a "sell out."

  • Sorry - but you will have to change this to the "Junior" Master...Hamza El Din is THEE Master

  • hamza el din is not the master farid el atrashe is the master do your homework and get it straight you obviously don't know about arabic people because your not one of us this is the king or the oud and no one can play like him show this man some respect he is dead hamza el din is not the master this is the master that person is the junior hamza el din how in the hell and who in the hell is that he is a baby compared to farid el atrashe and mohammed abdel wahab

  • While Farid is a great oud player - he's got NO SOUL. He has two subjects. Love and patriotism. He was a tool. He should have taken Frank Zappa's advice and "shut up and play yer oud". Every time he opens his mouth, the song is ruined.

Hamza however - is a musician with soul that refused to sell out. By the way - as for "Arabism" kos omak.

  • oh - and please enjoy more Disney - brought to you by the Zionists at ABC/Disney.

    Idiot.

This is why Yemenis are shooting at each other. It's why Fatah and Hamas are shooting at each other. It's why the Saudi ruling pimps sell out to the Americans. Why the Egyptian thugs close their borders to Palestinians. Why the Sudanese contiue genocide. Because "Arabism" is alive and well - because Arabism is by definition stabbing a brother in the back.

    Roh yalla...roh el3ab fi kharak.

  • i don't think you are really arabic no being arab is not about stabbing a brother in the back being arab is about respecting god praying 5 times to allah and respecting your parents not eating or touching nothing with pork and actually i am arab you inti habla you've never seen farid el atrashe in a movie or even sing i have i have watched all of his movies

  • Islam and Arab are not the same word.

  • i know islam and arab aren't the same word islam is the religion we live by and arab is what we are but this dude is putting the blame on an american company like disney thats why american people dislike arabs because it's people like him that blame it on american people and then he goes and calls farid el atrashe not the master yes farid by far is the master most of the music you hear in belly dancing is from farid el atrashe mohammed abdel wahab and so on thats what i was saying about it okay

  • disney has nothing to do with the and arabs and the palestian people your the idiot the egyptian people don't close there borders to palestians is the jewish who close there borders to the palestians the palestians are prisoners in there own land and there own house they have to have permission to even leave there own house and they have curfews and they have absolutely no rights whatsoever so don't talk about arabism because your not an arab your just an american arab wannabe

  • I don't recall ever saying I was arab? and yes, Disney has a lot to do with it. Arabs are supporting Zionism through their support of companies like Disney.

Egyptians do share a border with Gaza...you might want to buy a map and learn something about your own geography...then you can take the map w't nik omak biha...I think she is hayga again.

  • and palestians aren't allowed to cross the border because the jewish will stop them i am palestian and i have family how live in bethlehem and i can't even get in to gaza without being searched we can't even get into gaza without having permission from the government i know my geography disney has nothing to do with egypt and the arab countries it's ignorant people like you who think like that and i am a person raised on farid el atrashe so please don't disrespect someone that i admire
