  • High school senior year . . . NYC . . . late 1989 . . . 92 KTU was bumping the Shep Pettibone remixes of this . . . Jane CHild's vocals and keyboards are BRILLIANT !!!

  • why does this song remind of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES??

  • @EndOfDayz727 I feel the same way!!! I think it's because it's in NYC & sounds similar to 9.95 from the Ninja Turtles movie that came out in '90

  • FINALLY! There's my song, had to go thru so many messed up remixes to fine the original. She was so ahead of her time.

  • Love this song. It just does not get any better than this. Incredible. What a voice, what a talent, what a woman.

  • When she goes UUUwwwUUUuuuu Supperbbb!!!!!

  • This is probably the single greatest song in the history of the universe.

  • LOVE the hair! (And song.)

  • love the WTC

  • takes me back to playing with my teenage mutant ninja turtles action figures and then asking to go to the arcade to play the game

  • Her voice is soooo HOT!

  • how did i miss this for so long? this is my kinda shit!

  • Just downloaded this album last night on itunes.

  • So funky and cool! Always loved Jane Child! Wooo hoo woooo!!! Great post!

  • My recollections: Out of nowhere Jane Childs appeared with one kick ass song. She was played mostly on Top 10 radio, pop basically but her sound and image all cut from the "Prince" mold.

As you can see, she's in a studio, alone, on a Fairlight w/Mac, creating the song solo. Her look isn't punk, its just different, new, unique, something very popular in the 80's.

Her sound, very R&B, Funk Pop which really represents the big synth beat attack of the late 80's.

    - Gary

  • it's such a shame that she only had 1 popular song.

  • any videos of jane child live in concert back in the day?

  • What is the year of this song??

  • Another song that takes me back to high schhol senior year.. Wow- I REALLY LOVED this song. Me and my sister used to have a good time jammin' out to this. :)) thanks for posting this.

  • She was hot bot obviously trying to cash in on the Punk rock image, I bet she was pissed she missed the 90s explosion by a few years. LOL.

  • Love this song! Best part at 3:06

  • @DecemberProjectXXX Yeah, that's when it starts to build up.

  • my old neighbor looks just like her, but she's not too good on the synth

  • she is cool!.... and she has the pitch bend down perfect!

  • I thought a black girl sang this song..

  • You can't listen to this and NOT feel good! Now, listen to the stuff out now. How does that crap make you feel?

  • @mattdawg83686 spot on-music today sucks

  • @mattdawg83686 Yeah, I'm not a fan of her fashion (what if someone yanked that chain!) but I had no idea what she looked like when I first heard this song, that I love. They don't make anything like this anymore, nothing like it. If I judged the grammies now, no one would even get nominated

  • @thesnare100 Indeed. I don't even watch the Grammys anymore. I don't listen to the radio anymore either. Too much watered down crap and the sheep are buying it in bulk keeping the real musician off the radio.

  • @mattdawg83686 So fucking true!!!!!!

  • She has such strong personal style! So cool! I wish I had a role model around like that in my time.

  • her piercings are awesome

  • She was so wonderfully weird! Loves it!

  • God...please...please... bring real music back!!!

  • Though I cannot say I like her style and piercings, but I definitely like this song.

  • I love this song and remember hearing it on the juke box at a pizza hut in 1991 or so as a kid. wow shes got quite a look. lol I had no idea. thats what I loved about back then everyones style was cool

  • rememember this love it classic 89 hit!real music

  • Sounds a lot like 'Everything She Wants' by Wham! George Michael should have copied the braids and nose-chain in retaliation...

  • i still remember when this came out. love it.

  • Too bad the whole chain thing never caught on. Would still bang her pooper though.

  • check out my acoustic music and raps I make !!

    suscribe if you like them!

  • she is musically influenced by black people

  • Good song. Scary bitch.

  • Why today's music is so bored...?

  • And you know what my world of today's music consists of:

"Ass, ass, ass, ass, ass, ass, ass, ass, ass, ass, ass, ass.."

I envy those who grew up in that time era!

  • @MADDOG6400 I hate that "ass ass ass" song. How the hell did music become that way? I love Jane Child and believe it or not, I'm 20 years old.

  • @MPGaGa1991 Quite frankly, my dear, I'm 20 as well.

And I wonder that every day myself. I used to LOVE Top 40 stations when I was a little kid. Now, I just avoid them and rely on my iPod thinking, "Did the industry SERIOUSLY run out of things to write about!?" Only modern music I listen to is the underground stuff. Sorry, if that sounds so hipster of me, but it actually is better than anything modern mainstream media can come up with.

  • @MADDOG6400 I used to love the Top 40 as well up until 2004. Now I rely on my ipod too and listen to Jewel, Verve Pipe, Gin Blossoms, Dishwalla, Jane Child, Edie Brickell, etc. I pretty much hate 90% of new "music."

  • @MPGaGa1991 thats amazing.....im in my 30's and i HATE MUSIC FROM THE 70'S!! but something draws me to 80's music!

  • SHe reminds me of Gaga

  • @sneakiebug10

no you fuckn didnt just say that?

  • @Death2theNWO777 I did. Watch your mouth, dirty, rotten skank! When China takes over, no goods like you will DIE! Can't wait...

  • @sneakiebug10

    wow another internet tough guy!

    LOL fuckn pussy

    aint noone scared! hahahaha...

  • @Death2theNWO777 I'm a woman, and you should be scared - not of me - of your future.

  • @sneakiebug10

    lol why?

    cant live forever!

  • i forgot what this song was til i saw her hair lmao great song and great voice

  • I remember her and loved this song but what ever become of her? She's an awesome artist!

  • the transition from 80s to 90s rnb and pop produced some really great songs that have stayed in my head all this time!!!!good memories, good times!love this, thanks for sharing

  • Spring 1990.

  • 0:16 - 0:19 She got a lil booty on her huh?

  • Awesome !

  • And nice teeth, but those hands!!!! Man hands.

  • She has (had) a nice pooper.

  • Didn't know there was a prequel to "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"

  • @jennyboom Yeah, it's called The Girl That Kicked The Hornets Nest.

  • Her hair = Win

  • @Zer0cropped haha! i used to think the same thing :)

  • i forgot how much i loved this song

  • @Zer0cropped You mean Canadian? ;)

  • 1990 or so.21 and clubbin . Classic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why don't songs like this come out anymore?

  • @EDERNVASQUEZ Wrong, definitely late 80's! approx. 87-88.

  • @EDERNVASQUEZ because corporations control the music you are allowed to hear.

  • @EDERNVASQUEZ Cause people these days are lame. They don't make feel good music like this anymore. Cause they don't know how to feel good anymore.

  • so true...and so very sad

  • When This Came Out,We Were "Wildin' Out", In Montreal !

  • I got a DUI in 1989, I bought a mountain bike sold my car and had this on a cassette tape in my Walkman, I used to ride everywhere listening to this.

That DUI was the best thing to happen to me I started going to the gym and getting healthy but, Still drank my beer at work since I was a night club DJ, Now a days you can get a DUI on a bicycle =]

  • This song is refreshingly fresh, even for it being 2011. I wonder how'd she get her braids so long?

  • just a reallygreat song with a great beat!

  • femullet!!!!

  • She is the reason I ran out to get my nose pierced (all those years ago)! I wanted to wear the nose to ear chains, LOL

  • I remember when this came out YEARS ago! I was shocked to find out that it was as popular as it is, still, and that people like it.

  • Her hairstyle is weird but it's kind of cute and so is she. Also, her voice is amazing.

  • love this ! good memories

  • i'd love to hear pink sing this =)

  • Who else thought the hair in the beginning was a porcupine or something!??

  • Got this album as soon as it came out. I actually learned to do the solo of this song on guitar. The whole album kix ass 2 me.Thanx Jane!!

  • @bruzrcruzr2004 I'll second that because the Jane Child album IS kick ass!!! LOL

  • Respond to this video... I remember Donnie Simpson with that classic smile nodding his head when they would cut to him when this video was ending on Video Soul. Yep thats right, this song got played on BET back in the days.

  • A few years ago I was trying to find this song. I couldn't remember the name of the song, or the artist...I just knew I liked it. My good friend and former brother-in-law was able to tell me song and artist from a very vague description of the video and the artist. A TRUE musical trivia GENIUS!

  • The beauty of this song is that her look, this beat and her voice do not seem like they would work together so well but boy do they!

  • @telliwood haha, this jam is the pure definition of "art" in music :)

  • without a doubt; the most original style ever!

  • She wont fall in love with that atrocious haircut.
