My recollections: Out of nowhere Jane Childs appeared with one kick ass song. She was played mostly on Top 10 radio, pop basically but her sound and image all cut from the "Prince" mold.

As you can see, she's in a studio, alone, on a Fairlight w/Mac, creating the song solo. Her look isn't punk, its just different, new, unique, something very popular in the 80's.

Her sound, very R&B, Funk Pop which really represents the big synth beat attack of the late 80's.
