  • 8:02 Magmoor Caverns. <3 Unfortunately, I didn't even know about Metroid until Prime 2 came out.

  • AHHH I FUCKING HATE THAT QUICKSAND SHIT

  • 01:09 damn... it took me half an hour hahahaha

  • You fall through spikes to fight a boss? How was I supposed to now that?!! Well, I guess that's what the scanner is for.

  • oh wow once again i have no imagination 1:03, i always do stuff the hard way by mistake :(

  • how does one learn all the names of the bosses in the metroid series?

  • @Octoshark19 Wikitroid is a good resource for looking up enemy names, especially for the earlier games where you don't get many in game.

  • I agree. The wall jumping in this game was cool.

  • Mario 64 I can wall jump all day , Super Metroid more like uh I think I got it , hey I did one oh no do another , WHY ARE YOU FALLINGG AHHHHHH!! SAMUS U BIIIITCH

  • Fuck wall jump when you can space jump :)

  • @HappyHawaiinSauce Do you realize that this is one of the earliest games to feature wall jumping? Besides Ninja Gaiden, I can't think of anything from before 1994 that used it as extensively as you can in Super Metroid. Maybe Prince of Persia; can't remember if the original series had wall jumping.

    Personally, I dislike how they dumbed down wall jumping in future Metroid and Mario games. Super Metroid and Mario 64 have the best wall jumping in their series.

  • @Desbreko I never had a problem with mario 64 wall jumping, I realized the issue was due to not using the D-pad. Using a joystick is unbearable.

  • @Desbreko If I can remember correctly in 1993 Gunstar Heroes and Shinobi 3 both utilized wall jumping mechanics. Although they didn't use it nearly as extensively as Super Metroid, the controls were superior.

  • @Desbreko Ninja Gaiden's wall jump on the NES was much easier

  • @AYCHMENG It was, but its style of wall jumping wouldn't work at all well for Metroid. Imagine trying to play Super Metroid and sticking to the walls whenever you touch them.

  • @Desbreko Hey your right man , btw great video you are excellent. Thanks you helped improve my game a bit. Are you playing this on emulator? And if you are are you using the keyboard or a controller? I am using a keyboard and I know if I had a controller (preferably snes type ) I would have no problem doing a wall jump its a bitch to do with a keyboard at least for me. I used to have this game on the super back in the day.

  • @AYCHMENG I played on an emulator, yeah, but I have an adapter that lets me use a SNES controller with my PC. Playing Super Metroid with a keyboard doesn't work well at all, so I'd highly recommend getting some type of gamepad or USB adapter.

  • @AYCHMENG

    Mega Man X came out in Japan December 1993, just before Super Metroid. It had much better wall kicking/jumping in my opinion actually. Also, in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy, at least he'll grab onto the wall. That way, you can just click in the direction he's actually facing and then jump.

  • @Desbreko I agree. It was like how they dumbed down 2D fighters with the inclusion of air blocking and pop-ups beginning with SF Alpha (continued with X-Men, Darkstalkers, Marvel vs. Capcom, etc.), and was even included in MK3. And you're right, it all started circa 1994 - 95.

  • @Desbreko have you played metroid other M it has awesome wall jumping some times when there are enemies in the walls nintendo aded spots to hang to first kill enemies then wallgump metroid other M the only future game that has great wall jumping

  • @Desbreko Lol. OMG so innovative! Oh wait no it wasn't.

    This guy's walkthough is fabulous but this game is queer. This game is poorly laid out by todays standards. What made this game decent was it's play mechanics. BTW the Space jump is such a QUEER ability, so lame... Thanks Metroids for placing it here so that I can make it easier to get to you :roll eyes:

  • @Desbreko

  • @TayoEXE super metroid still fascinating and wall jump in this game needs skill dont tell me it doesnt because it does

  • @Desbreko Batman for the NES had wall jumping! :-)

  • @HappyHawaiinSauce noob rage

  • Ahem. 1:42

    *Puts on my snobby glasses and smug pipe*

    Technically, no it wasn't, since decimate means to remove 1/10th of something. You'd want a word that would mean 'to remove 2/3rds of', or alternately, 'to be 1/3rd of'. If 'tricimated' isn't a word, it should be.

    *Blows smug jackass bubbles on the pipe.*

  • @elfinfluff That comment was totally gay... By which I mean merry and jovial, of course, because words obviously never have more than one definition. :p

  • Nice draygon kill. Never tried luring him to the destroyed turret before. I will now.

  • hey man, I got this game on virtual console and am using wii classic controller pro, does that wall jump and shinespark and all that other stuff work ok with that kind of controller?

  • @fwwaller I haven't played the game with a classic pro, but I'd think so since it's got a good quality d-pad on it.

  • the music played in lower norfair is the same as the one played in the magmor caverns in metroid prime

  • strangely enough, it's NOT the electricity that kills Draygon/Dragoon, whatever

    ANY grapple point will act like the turrets in this room, although I'm not sure if you take damage as well

  • lower norfair sounds like magmoor caverns! :O

  • @metroidfannumber1 it's the other way around actually

  • @TwilightKun4 don't play mind games

  • @metroidfannumber1 but it's true~

  • @TwilightKun4 okay den

  • @TwilightKun4 don't play mind games.

  • Haha the enemies at 8:50 look like Meta Knight from Kirby. Also, great work on this whole thing man. I'm havin fun just watching it.

  • this is an amazing walkthrough. ive followed you every step of the way thus far, except at one point int he beginning where i was more or less useless at wall jumping but now can hop up them no problem

  • You have provided such a swift and detailed walk-through. I truly appreciate all that you have done here. Your efforts are Staggering. And you explain everything so clearly. I love you, man. I love you.

    I am going to subscribe. I rarely do that.

    You have shown me many moves and brought me from 95% to 100%. thank you!!!!!

    ~~~
  • Are those skulls sticking out of Draygon's head?
  • 1:56- 2:20: AAAAAAAAHHHHHH Metroids!!!
  • 1:11 Samus: Who has some tartar sauce?
  • damn you owned that boss
  • what does that grapple beam does to the minions in part 0:41???
  • the maridia area has music that sounds familiar...i think it's a song that is played on classic rock radio stations, but I can't name or remember it exactly...
  • to be good just spend time on the game.
  • To be good just play a lot time.
  • I fucking hate maridia
  • I just laughed when i found out that you have to get the plasma beam before Torizo.
    I beat him with just the ice beam,and i had only 75 life points left.
  • Where is the spring jump?
  • @SuperJoseAlvarado You mean the Spring Ball? Take a look at part 9 starting from about 3:00.
  • I enjoy the space jump seeming to be backwards. It makes it look like Samus is going for a shooting star press. :D
  • Desbreko, you are a muthafuckin god at this game
  • Space Jump is siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiickkkkkk:-)
  • Know what I noticed the second he entered Lower Norfair? It's the exact same music that they used in Magmoor Caverns on Metroid Prime. Why the hell did they do that? Eh, good music altogether, I guess.
  • f*ck i am stuck, you need to destroy the red aliens at 5:00 but i dont have ice beam :( you know how i can kill em?
  • @playerbas5 The Plasma Beam is all that's needed to kill them, which you get right in that room.
  • @Desbreko why dont you save? btw ur such a beast at this game :)
  • HOW THE HECK DID YOU DO THAT!?!?!? p.s. draygon has to be the uglyest thing in the universe. it makes a rancore look like tyra banks! XD
  • @phazonmetroidsrule22 What do you mean, "rancore?!!?"
  • @Bluestreak257 a rancore. its from star wars. they are very big, ugly and extremely mean. you have to kill like 50 of them in the wii version of star wars force unleashed.
  • 2:05 mini metroids!
  • ooh the magmor carverns theme before metroid prime came out =]
  • the space junp is like screw attack
  • Ah..... fighting Draygon reminds me of waffles.
  • what are reserve tanks for, anyways?
  • @kirbyzilla19 Well,if you have one energy tank left,you can activate the reserve tanks to fill up so many energy tanks as you have reserve tanks.Use them on hard bosses.
  • Lower Norfair music: the best in the game!
  • space jump is the coolest skill EVER
  • MAN I LOVE THIS GAME one of my favs all time! YOUR AMAZING AT THIS BTW I WATCHED ALL OF EM AND LEArNED ALOT! THank you so much!
  • At 1:17 that's kinda sad :( poor things...
  • why do you still use wall jump when you have space jump? PS any time i leave a comment if people pm me cause i rarely go back to previous episodes to check the comments
  • @117scorcher You can travel upwards faster by wall jumping than you can by space jumping. Also, wall jumping lets you continue space jumping even if you've fallen far enough that you'd otherwise have to land before being able to space jump again.
  • you are not human....
  • @edu6034 HE IS GOD!
    (the god of metroid of curse...)
    Thanks Desbreko, Was not for you if ... I could not go further than Brinstar.
    The truth is I feel the game more difficult, because this game is too different from his brothers, Metroid Zero Mission and Fusion ...
  • i love lower norfairs song. haha they used it again in prime in magmoor caverns.
  • Aw, the little babies take the dead creature down! Touches like this are what made the game such a freaky experience.
  • how come didnt u get hurt by the lava? did i miss a suit upgrade or something?
  • The Gravity Suit stops damage from lava (but not acid).
  • Comment removed
  • I just realised that I'm too stupid to play this game...all the secrets and stuff...I would never figure out most of the stuff here....damn it
  • Hey how do you space jump like that. Every time I am out of the water I can go up with the space jump.
  • Am I the only person that thinks the lower norfair music is annoying? Also its the same music as magmoor caverns from metroid prime, where it is equally annoying. Why do they always have to re use annoying songs? :P
  • Yea you on your own on that opinion.
  • Damn it so ur saying u actually enjoy that repetitively annoying song? What has gaming music come to lol....
  • You're the only one that doesn't like it lol! And second, 'what has gaming music come to?!' You're complaining about music from a 17 year old game! What next, complain about the old gameboy for only having two buttons?!
  • Hey, gameboy kicked ass :P. I was saying more like, what is up with today's gamers that they actually like that? But yeah, I hated the magmoor caverns not because of the lava but because that song kept taunting me! lol. Doo. Doo Doo. Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo.......
  • meh...to each his own....
    But hey, I've been called a weirdo for not liking the Zelda games........
  • Comment removed
  • @epicdavid all background music is repetitive. because it constantly repeats after a certain point. i'd agree with you if you were referring to the item acquisition theme.
  • thats ridley's music on that boss
  • omg thank yo for showin me how to use the grapple trick t helped me soo much :D
  • you make me feel like a newb :( gj nice gamer
  • Wow, thats a pretty nice trick with the beam to get rid of the boss, never seen b4 and I played it really often
  • you are damn too good i dind t know about that trick with the grappling beam until nowO_o
  • How would you know to get the spring ball as a first time player? I've never known It existed until I saw a guide for it.
  • MAN...Did you make this game; Are you a computer, or is the Strategy Guide implanted in your brain lol.
  • nice better sound quality
  • 0:40 - 0:50 creature molester,
    1:20 gang rape lmao. Sorry I had to say it ;P
    God.. you are amazing at this game, nice walkthrough/guide, especially for giving alternate ways to get things :)
  • is it possible to take the reserve tank of the 3:26 without the spring ball ability?
  • Yes, it's just a bit tricky. There's a couple ways you can do it.
    The first way is to wall jump off the left wall above the crumble blocks and then push down just after the wall jump. That'll make you morph immediately and slip into the passage.
    The second way is to disequip the Hi-Jump and stand on the very edge of the crumble blocks. Spin jump up past the overhang and then morph into the passage.
    To reach the items from there, you'll have to use a bit of bomb jumping.
  • best guide ever =)
  • now i understand.thank you.
  • when i space jump,samus has a round,a circle form...& i saw here that she has an oval,rectangular form!how do i do that?
  • That's just due to the video's frame rate being decimated to 20 fps. It should look round.
  • how do you get a continuous jump with the space jump?
  • Jump again just as you start to fall; if you press the button while you're still traveling upwards, it won't work. Also, if you fall too far without jumping, you won't be able to jump again until you land or wall jump off a wall.
  • crocomire has a bowser joke lol (get a axe and the creature down to lava)
  • Desbreko could you explain this:
    What is over there in 8:12?
  • Over to the right? It leads to the upper part of the room shown at 1:37 in part 11. So you can go right from the elevator to skip the gold Torizo and Screw Attack if you want.
  • Hey Desbreko, could you possibly explain this:
    I gravity jumped into Lower Norfair and decided I wanted to get the screw attack. I went left after going down the elevator and decided to just go through the lava and wall jump up to the Chozo statue. I morph ball into his hands and the lava doesn't drain at all.
    What gives? I'm guessing the only way to get the screw attack without the space jump is to do the green gate glitch?
  • I'm not sure what's up with that. I just went and tried the same thing and sure enough, the statue wouldn't drain the lava.
    I thought maybe it wouldn't work if you touched the lava, but coming back with the Space Jump and testing both going through the lava and jumping over it both resulted in the lava draining. I'd guess it's either a bug where not having the Space Jump screws it up, or some check to see whether you've beaten Draygon.
  • I figured it out Desbreko. After scouring the Metroid2002 forums, I found that the reason the lava doesn't drain is that the game does a silent check to see if you have the space jump or not. If you don't have the space jump, the lava doesn't drain, which means no screw attack. Simple as that.
    This means that the developers knew you could get into Lower Norfair without needing the space jump - they just didn't know that you could green gate glitch the other way to get the screw attack anyway.
  • lol electrecuting those little critters.. haha..
  • wow i never knew you could kill the boss like that
  • anyoneells notice that the things draygon shots out that stick to samus look kinda like the x from metroid fusion? i could just be me idk
  • OMG I wish I had known that trick to kill him instead of dying LITERALLY 30 times in a row wasting my day off work haha.
    Thanks for the tips!!
  • oh well, at least it would have felt rewarding when you finally downed him.
  • I did it first try and got it lol.
  • What will happen to Draygon in 1:18?
  • You activate the grappling beam and make sure you are caught by one of his leeches, Then jump up near one of thos destroyed shooters. When Draygon grabs you, You fire your grappling beam at the shooters.
  • Do sandy deserts need that theme?
  • what is the purpose of the reserve tanks?
  • they fill up once samus life is full, everytime you get life. then once samus life goes to zero they bring samus back to life from the life that was reserved in them.
  • spare energy when your about to die
  • its in the name when u loose all of ur health the reserve tanks kick in and give you health.
  • Um, no, that is not at all how the human eye works. It doesn't see in fps, it sees a constant stream of light. And it can certainly distinguish more than 24 changes per second.
    The reason it looks backwards is because two out of every three of the original animation's frames were decimated. That made the motion much less fluid, and harder to distinguish which direction the rotation is going. You can still see it going the correct direction if you train your eye to look at it right.
  • Well so much for the wall jump now that you have the Space jump.BTW tnx for reminding me about this game this is one of my Fav games of all time true Classic.TNx Again for this walktrough(^_^)
  • who needs wall jump when you have, TEH SPACE JUMPS?! xD
  • Is the spring ball necessary?
  • Only to get 100% item collection. Otherwise, no.
  • it also helps when navigating in holes in walls
  • Why wouldn't you want to jump as a ball? lol
  • magmoor caverns music WOOT!
  • HELL YES IT DOES
  • That bit where you did the super run & jumped that gap...NOW THAT WAS SLICK, YOU ARE SO COOL!
  • you got to be kidding me!
  • have you heard of the death shot, it kills anything with one hit?
  • It's called the murder beam, and it's an extremely hard to do glitch that will crash your game. >:
  • To think, I could have done this back when I was in 3rd grade, when Draygon inexplicably gave me the most trouble out of all the bosses... (facepalm)
  • thats cuz its not ridley
  • Space Jump doesnt work as well for me out of water
  • ur not doing it right
  • Yeahhh, what did you do to draygon?
  • Exactly what it looked like. Let one of the white things attach to you so Draygon will pick up up, then grapple beam one of the destroyed wall turrets while it's holding you. Makes crispy fried Draygon in seconds.
  • Oh you have got to be kidding me! Do you know how many game overs I've endured trying to kill this thing and it winds up being that easy! Yes, I'm angry at myself. Thanks dude, I'd never figure it out without ya.
  • magmoor caverns music a lil dif but still it
  • what is this places name ? is it maridia or somthen'
  • the music in this game is awesome
  • mardia has sad music.
  • i agree it always gets me depressed for some reason
  • how do jump so high in the morph ball?
  • The Spring Ball, which I got in part 9, allows you to jump while in ball form.
  • oh thanks
  • how do you use the moon jump in the air
  • The Space Jump? Press the jump button again just after you start falling from the previous jump. You have to wait until you stop gaining altitude from the previous jump but you can't wait too long or else you won't be able to space jump again until landing or wall jumping.
  • man u are from another planet...!!!
  • i love the space jump
  • BTW, I know you get the Plasma Beam but how do you get VAR for the Plasma Beam later on?
  • That's part of a glitch called the Murder Beam, where you equip all five beams at once. Take a look at my Mother Brain 2 - Murder Beam video to see how to do it. watch?v=YqIManl66uQ
  • hey, what's with the little Draygon's not with the big one it drags it away when it dies? Enemies? I donno...
  • Do I really need to get the plasma gun or is it optional?
  • You don't have to get the Plasma Beam but it makes the rest of the game easier. It's a lot more powerful than the Spazer Beam.
  • how do u jump while in morph ball plzzz answer
  • You need the Spring Ball, which I get in part 9.
  • thanks
  • wow this boss is the easiest. With the Gravity beam.
  • plz answer immediately, how come lava doesnt hurt you?
  • The Gravity Suit prevents damage from lava, though acid and the lava in Tourian still hurt you.
