@Bdlegette lol I'm a Junior and I'm a Middle Linebacker at my Highschool's Football team and I'm only 5'11 and Weight 185 ibs, You are a beast for a Freshmen good luck bro
ok guys, instead of asking people on youtube what position you should play, ask your coach cos you dont know who you are getting answers from on here, get some sense!

Yo anyone help me out? Im a Junior now in HS and playing 1 technique D.tackle, Im very undersized to play DT but im very fast/quick and i think i should be playing LB or DE, problem is as a freshman i played DT and didnt play sophmore year and coaches still think im a DT, Should i ask to get moved or just keep working at DT?
PS. there are currently 5 DT, not being cocky i am the best of the bunch but we only have 3 LBers and need depth and our backup DTs can def. step up if i move
People, remember that this is just a basic video for people who aren't experienced in football. Take it with a grain of salt and commit to working hard, that's all! For the guy who commented on the tackler being too high, it is a simulation and no!!!!!! getting lower doesn't make you a better tackler, bringing your hips is what does the trick!
ok half u guys asking for wat position u should play arent giving the truth to how much u can bench or whatever. If ur 5 7, and only weigh 145, thats means ur a scrawny peice of shit, that has a little muscle, and i promise that uc ant bnech 130 15 times. So if your looking for what you should play, you should be left bench because you cant even be honest with yourself with what you can do
@chrisiztheman1618 At the highschool 9th-12th are doing benching. I just turned 14 and made a signifigant gain in muscle, mostly in the legs though. My leg extention is 200 10 times and i ouldnt do bench this year because i broke my arm, so i will find out later in year how much i bench. I think im going to play a little of both though
@vigerious great but believe me, you will pay for it later if you keep this up. as you go through the growing stage you cant put that much presure on your joints man,
@vigerious just be smart, talk to an experianced trainer and some experianced football players. No doubt in my mind that they'll think youre stupid for lifting so much so early.
Im 15, 6'1, and 189.2 pounds. Not sure what my 40 is but I run as fast as the db's on my team. I bench 175 -180. I've been asked to try out for my city U-17 football team. I've played D-Line all my life but the coaches say my body shape is too lean to go against the u-17 O line because im built not o line big so they want me to try lb. Does this sound average for a lb ?
@wanyebradybitch12 those are some not bad number but u should play outside not middle.. I recently my self moved to lb/fb from playing d tackle and center.. I'm 5 11 210... bench 275 squat 335 deadlift 415..my 40 time is 5.07 I'm 15 years of age also.. People call me a freak even though I don't have good genes :p but that other guy is right if u have the mental skillz u can suceed
Tackling is one of those things you usually catch on too. My son is 9 this was his second year in pop warner football. He came out of his shell more, better than last year he was scared. Cant wait till next year he should be a beast!!!!
i wish your son luck and i hope he continues to play football. i have played since i was 7 and my father pushing me and being proud is what kept me doing the greatest thing on the planet which is play middle linebacker for 12 years now and i am heading into semi professional football hoping to pursue it all the way to the nfl from here. keep supporting your son and god bless.
@inkaoner just like the movie gridiron gang starring the rock telling this kid he was afraid to get tackle everytime they make a play. he's more accident prone if he's scared, but if he go all out at it theres more chance of being safe that he'll firm up and avoid getting injured because his muscle is all tense up to protect him.
great vid. im thinking of trying to switch from db to lb after this season. i weigh like 165-170ish, bench 135, and my 40 is around 5.0 seconds. one thing i need to work on is my agility for sure. any ideas? advice ?
linebackers are usually strong and sometimes have to take on lineman. to be considered strong you gotta atleast bench your bodyweight lol i weigh as much as you and i bench 225 and im a db
@JackoWacko4Tabacko update. ive been at the gym a lot recently and im now 160.8lbs, bench 135 9 times, 155 4 times, but i havnt tested my 40 in a while. should i keep going for linebacker or start going for more of a safety? thanks for all the help lol i didnt really expect anyone to respond.
How tall are you? Thats important for a white linebacker. You possess the athleticism to make it as a player brah. I respect that you are trying in a world thats full of reverse racism in sports.
Bottom line, look at my boy Winfield from the Vikes. Size and speed dont matter too much if you have form and brains.
thanks man. just measured and im 5' 11". one thing i need to fix is my mental game. i tend to try to do too much, and think too much about every little thing i do. but im sure that will just come in time.
Man, dont think when you play. there are enough things going against you already, u just need to believe in your athletic ability and play mistake free fundemental and agressive football. Dont follow the crowd, do your own thing. Cockiness is also key, notice all the great LBers (I know most dont say that but look at Ray "I killed a guy" Lewis)
Yo first year playing I'm going to the practices we're having befo the season, is all this accurate shit? Cuz are practices aren't gonna be that frequent until the beginning of august and I will practice this stiff @ the park or somethin
just do a lot of sprints... work on your footwork, get your butt low, keep your head up and keep those feet movin... ule be fine kid, just work your butt off
Currently I am about to enter freshman year and plan to become a linebacker. I weigh 156-160lbs, bench around 110lbs, 6', and run the 40 yard dash in around 4.89 secs. Does anyone have any tips on ensuring a spot on A team or what other A team typical LBs are like?
just show your a tough s.o.b and your not afraid to tackle. your pretty big for a freshman. most good varsity lbs can weigh between 180-220 and can run and can hit
yea i just graduated and i started for 3 years varsity. my sophomore year i was about 170 junior year i was hittin the 180 mark but i weighed in my senior year at 198 (peanut butter, protein shakes, and HARD WORK)
alright thanks cause i was semi-worried about my speed cause some of the other LBs can run the 40 yard in about 4.76 to 4.79 and one of them weighs near 190 lbs and can run the 100 meter dash in 11.42 secs
no the thing is that i don't look like a lineman at all i'm build like a linebacker. but at the beginning of the year i was fat but after football season i lost it all and know people tell im a bit built. would you recommend sprints and bleachers?
You know how people say practice makes perfect well thats the same with running and jumping you keep doing sprints and anything you can do you get better. Lifting weights gives new muscle and sprints makes you faster cause you also need strong legs and thats were lifting weights comes in
this is to anyone.i'm trying to switch from center and dt because people say i can do better. can anyone here give me some major tips and drills o and any thoughts on how to get faster
You should lift weights and some stuff u can do to get faster is squat, calf raises and lunges and if your on the O-line and D-line your probably bigger than most people so you should try to shed some pounds if you are big. Some people are just made to be lineman
You don't wanna just lift weights... That trains your slow twitch fibers. to make yourself faster, you have to train the fast twitch ones, and the only way to do that is to do sprints and drills with fast, ballistic movement.
thanks. i'm doing sprints, bleachers, and harness tire sprints.I should be starting my endurence in a couple of days. Also drills was exactly how i got good to start on A-team.the thing is though is i can't find that much good linebacker tips and drills like i did for the line. i'm quick 5'4 and about 135 anydrills would help and my coaches are helping too
something that helps a lot to get faster is sprinting 40 yard dashes and remember to give yourself a 20-30 second break cause sprinting tired isn't gunna get you faster, also drink a lot of water and keep up protein and i'm sure you'll be off great. Good luck man.
yea i do i started varsity sophomore-senior year both ways... i have a highlight from my junior year on here i played the whole season w/ torn ligaments in my shoulder at 5'9 173 lbs came back my senior year recovered at 5'9 195 lbs... my senior video is in the progress
lol yea i am actually... but i earned my position cause im a good leader and im smart, only reason i led varsity in tackles all 3 years i started was because i studied film and i read plays ;)
These are good drills... I currently weigh 230 and I'm assigned to DE... Although our style DEs are in a 2 point and we need to be fast. I'm using an agility sled and hope to shave tenths of seconds off my 40 and maybe I can play LB!
But Damn i need some help with my taclking skills , last week was the tryouts i made the first cut because my Lb coach like my footwork and everything but now i keep on messing up on tackles , i keep on leaving my head down
Put your face mask right in the middle of his chest. Wrap him up by hugging him as tight as possible. And keep driving your feet until you drive him into the ground. It also helps to spread your arms wide just before you make contact and use alot of force when closing your arms around him. If he tries to spin on you wrap up his legs. Good luck!
Another thing to add to that would be. If you're playing against an elusive style runner who likes to head fake and use his shoulders and his feet. There is one place that won't lie to you and that is hips. Focus on the buckle on his bottom halves, or where they would be if there are none. You might not nail the guy on every occasion to begin with but you'll soon become a sure enough tackler to bait them into making a move and cleaning up from there. The hips really can't lie to you
yeah the tackeling is way to high its supposed to be way lower i wrap around the ball carrier's legs and pick him up or at least drive through him low
i woudlnt doubt but i play quarter back so i know how to get around linebackers trying to tackle me and that tell me how i should tackle them when im on D
Videos or get the fuck out, theres no way an 8th grader thats 224 pounds... Runs a 40 in 4.7, get out of here fatty. Great football half-backs only run around 4.2 and thats great. Not an 8th grade 224 pounder.
Yo im a 8th grader playin middle line backer and tailback i run a 40 in 4.7. 5'11 224lb, and i have a 36.5 vertical. I found out im startin on my Varsity team next year as my same positions. so any tips or workouts anyone can recommend?
Be a student of the game. Watch film as much as you can and know your opponents as if it was your own team. Whenever you get the opportunity, get ahead. If you can watch a game or two, before you even play them, do it.
You have a LB body for an 8th grader definately, but you probably won't have that aggressive mindset like a senior or junior would, so the preparation part will help you be more aggressive.
I'm 5'6 180 lb MLB who started for my varsity team, had 75 tkls and 3 sacks on D
So i need help. What if you are Mike backer and you have three guys pulling right as you are flowing over? By the way, I got Defensive Player of the Year
Keep your head up, for the love of god, keep your head up.
Watch for the crack, you can't make a play if you're in a coma.
Attack! Don't stand back and wait for the play.
Get mean as fuck. Nice guys finish last as linebacker, be nice as a bunny outside the field, but whne you get in there, get mean. I used to have to get my buddy to slap me to get me in the frame of mind.
I was 5'10 - 215. Dropped down to 5'10 195. I play Semi-Pro football now. Just practice running your 40 yard dashes. Sprint those S.O.B.'s to improve your speed. N' practice with your jumps.
Hey Bro Im a senior Linebacker also but I run a 4.4 an also play tailback. im 5ft9 185 all you need to do is work out asmany muscle groups as you can eliminate fat. I went from weighing 149 to 185 lean muscle mass. use creatine an change up your diet
What do i do to play linebacker. I really want to. I weigh 210 and 6,0.

lol yea i am actually... but i earned my position cause im a good leader and im smart, only reason i led varsity in tackles all 3 years i started was because i studied film and i read plays ;)

These are good drills... I currently weigh 230 and I'm assigned to DE... Although our style DEs are in a 2 point and we need to be fast. I'm using an agility sled and hope to shave tenths of seconds off my 40 and maybe I can play LB!
mikey401k 2 years ago
But Damn i need some help with my taclking skills , last week was the tryouts i made the first cut because my Lb coach like my footwork and everything but now i keep on messing up on tackles , i keep on leaving my head down
Streetrunaz305 2 years ago
Put your face mask right in the middle of his chest. Wrap him up by hugging him as tight as possible. And keep driving your feet until you drive him into the ground. It also helps to spread your arms wide just before you make contact and use alot of force when closing your arms around him. If he tries to spin on you wrap up his legs. Good luck!
dorsal08 2 years ago
Another thing to add to that would be. If you're playing against an elusive style runner who likes to head fake and use his shoulders and his feet. There is one place that won't lie to you and that is hips. Focus on the buckle on his bottom halves, or where they would be if there are none. You might not nail the guy on every occasion to begin with but you'll soon become a sure enough tackler to bait them into making a move and cleaning up from there. The hips really can't lie to you
RDSoulful23 2 years ago
really? I always focus on numbers cuz runningbacks twist their hips but they cant move their numbers around

freeskier58 3 years ago
i woudlnt doubt but i play quarter back so i know how to get around linebackers trying to tackle me and that tell me how i should tackle them when im on D
TJD1295 3 years ago
That is not the right way they teach to tackle.. it is way to high u gotta get lower or else ur just gonna get trucked over
vcnets204 3 years ago 6
@vcnets204 agreed you shouldn't stand like he did, you gotta attack the hips too

Videos or get the fuck out, theres no way an 8th grader thats 224 pounds... Runs a 40 in 4.7, get out of here fatty. Great football half-backs only run around 4.2 and thats great. Not an 8th grade 224 pounder.
Feralig 3 years ago 2

I'm 5'6 180 lb MLB who started for my varsity team, had 75 tkls and 3 sacks on D
dsikorski31 3 years ago
K i will do that thanks for the tips.

who usually gets more sacks in the NFL linemen or linebacker?
ToxicVideoWaste 3 years ago
bru a 4.4 40 is great but its not special anymo and if you really run a 4.4 y u on a linebacker drill vid?
22bubbles12345 3 years ago
Pfft, 4.4 is pretty damn good.
I popped a 4.6 and was satisfied with that.
It kinda depends on the linebacker's size too, and league.
Norkam82 3 years ago
i wanna try out for lb next season so i was wondering if there is anything important, tips, drills i should no about?
8o8ThaiSoul 3 years ago
Keep your head up, for the love of god, keep your head up.
Watch for the crack, you can't make a play if you're in a coma.
Attack! Don't stand back and wait for the play.
Get mean as fuck. Nice guys finish last as linebacker, be nice as a bunny outside the field, but whne you get in there, get mean. I used to have to get my buddy to slap me to get me in the frame of mind.
Good luck man.
Norkam82 3 years ago 2

im a senior outside linebacker, im 5'9 181-lbs and i run a 4'61-40 dash what do i need to improve on my last year or do i need to change positions
superleoman3000 3 years ago
I was 5'10 - 215. Dropped down to 5'10 195. I play Semi-Pro football now. Just practice running your 40 yard dashes. Sprint those S.O.B.'s to improve your speed. N' practice with your jumps.
CaNtToUcH94 3 years ago
Hey Bro Im a senior Linebacker also but I run a 4.4 an also play tailback. im 5ft9 185 all you need to do is work out asmany muscle groups as you can eliminate fat. I went from weighing 149 to 185 lean muscle mass. use creatine an change up your diet
ramostarr 3 years ago

Im a linebacker and i just finished 9th grade I run 5.1
Deltaseries12 3 years ago
well, you have enough time to get your 40 down a few tenths. but you also have to worry about stregnth and size ( 200 - 235 lbs )
jcapVIDS 3 years ago
im 5'7 and weight 155, not your average lb size I guess but not weak at all.
