  • Love the DNA mufflers on there. A lot of people don't run those at all. They sound really good, especially when the motors coming down from a rev. No popping, just smooth..

  • hey man i love that rearend i've got an 88 gxl wit a 350 and a t5 can you tell me how i can do that to mine..looks lyk you did it right with the 929 axles..looks lyk thatll hold up..did you have the axles cut down and resplined or do they jus work as bolt in after you hang the lincoln pod? also love how you made your own bracket to hang it wit..how much would you take to make me one of those?

  • check out the info at norotors.com search my user-name and look for the irs thread

  • NICE SET UP...BUT NO BURNOUT!

  • 5.3 is all aluminium rite? if so it might weigh less than a stupid iron rotory with heavy cast iron turbo and piping. and turbos suck so more power and especially torque is awesome!

  • well imo it's a bit silly to put a v8 on a rotary specific car but don't mind me, I'm no fan of v8s.

although I can imagine what that engine on such a great chassis means lol. must be fast as fuck. I don't like muscle cars mainly because handling is shit. but this is a well handling muscle car haha.

  • Are you really getting better fuel economy? Looks real nice. For the exhaust I would go straight pipes w/ glasspacks instead of mufflers.

  • only question i have is, how the hell do you change the spark plugs without pulling the motor out... lol aside from that, i love the ls1, love the rx7, to me its a match made in heaven if you can add weight to the rear to hold it down. i thought of doing this to my 85 when my wankel wanked out a few years ago. glad i didnt considering the cost. but aside from that, screw the haters. they dont know what hot rodding is about. CUSTOMIZATION AND ENGINE SWAPS.

  • hi there quick question.i drive a TVR chimaera 4 litres.they use rover V8 with T5GB but i want to swap for an LS engine....how the GB is taking the power so far???tks for ur help

  • T5 is holding up fine.

  • skeckevo - is just going around trolling on V8 swapped RX-7's, don't mind him.

  • @rxtony05 skankevo is a cock-gobbling V8 hater. I'm sure his dad punks him in the ass before bed.

  • Most ten year old boys think this car is cool, maybe when you get your maturity level up to them you will too.

  • @mayhamfx this skeckevo has been going around to all the v8 rx7 vids and posting crap like that

  • so ls1 intake on a ls4 but you put the corvette ls2 engine covers on? lol okay.

  • Have you seen the LS4 cover, ugly. Besides I have to compensate for old age and a small p***s some how.

  • It just kills me the time and effort put into this car for it to be a 5.3L. I know they are totally capable, and maybe anything more would kill the Lincoln IRS when you beat on it. And btw the 8.8 IRS is SUUUUUUCH A COOL TOUCH!!!!

  • So I paid under $1000 for a brand new 5.3l instead of over $2000 for a well used LS1, oh well.

  • how much was the project i wanna do tht wit a rx7 or miata

  • at what rpm is your max power with the ls1 intake and is it wort it i ve been thinking of doing that swap

  • Tons of power from idle up, but max power is about 6000 rpm

  • Respond to this video...

  • How do you mount the radiator? Cause I know the radiator sits at like a 70 degree angle its pretty slanted.

  • Cut the mounts out and make fabricate new ones.

  • @mayhamfx Thats what I figured. I didn't really want to buy a whole thing from grannyspeed. Did you use the RX7 radiator?

  • Computer up in the front like that? That's not where the original computer was for the 7, was it?

  • The 7 has the computer under the passenger side dash/floor stock, the truck harness I used put it there.

  • @mayhamfx dude that has to be the best of both worlds...well a bunch of worlds.A 5.3 with a 8.8 IRS? thats fucking titties

  • damn not an ls2 but its ls1 intake to dmn dude nice pockets you must have to buy all these parts to make one unique engine

  • there shouldnt be much if any difference in the handling because the ls engine blocks are aluminum therefore lighter

  • Someone made the comment about cheaper to maintain ........ I'm not criticizing ....... I just want to know how's the suspension and frame holding up. Are you going out of alignment a lot? Have you taken it to the track? if so, how's it handling compared to before?

  • It's not a track car but other fellow swappers do track them and do quite well. Myself I did nothing to the suspension.

  • BEAUTIFUL!! Great work!

  • what a conversion well done

  • This thing is a masterpiece, did you buy a custom wiring harness or did you make one yourself?

  • Modified harness from an 06 Silverado.

  • Beautiful mate

  • should have put a vtec in it

  • As much as I HATE Chevy, I love the idea of putting an LS1 into an RX7, nice job by the way.

  • Iron 5.3l, I am guessing an LM7? Any issues bolting the LS1 intake manifold to the LM7 heads?

I blew the engine in my 02 Corvette Z06 last week. I talked myself into building up the engine while I am in the process of repairing it, but I am toying with the idea of dropping in a used iron block engine so I can still drive it during the build. I know about the block differences, but am clueless on the non-corvette heads.

  • Almost forgot the best part. Sick fucking ride!!!

  • Hey guys Im getting an 87 rx7 that has that rotary engine. Im not too familiar with these cars but are them engines bad? and how hard is it to put a v8 in one?

  • @BenDover118A If you have money the rotary is fantastic. If you want a lot more power, the V8 swap is good, but it is expensive to do if you are pretty tight in money. Stick with the rotary for now, and take care of it.

  • Hey nice swap, did you use the 5.3 accessory belt assembly or did you go with a ls1/2 assembly? and same for the wire harness, are you running the truck harness or corvette/camaro/trans am harness. i am planning on the same project as the 5.3 or 6.0 truck engine can be found for so much cheaper

  • Please keep your narrow rotard mind to yourself. For my next project maybe I'll put a 13b in a Camero.

  • @mayhamfx bro that would be bad ass! im either gettin a 89 Fc and doin an supercharged ls1 or a 90 300zx with a RB26DETT in it :)

  • @mayhamfx i love rotaries so much that im doing a 6 rotor swap in a 2010 camaro bro fuck it and im putting the camaro engine in a civic hatchback lol

  • @mayhamfx I understand its your car and property and all that but why do this to a rx7? Why not a miata? Me and my fellow rx7 purist wouldn't want to eat your face and you'd have a even faster car. Same with a Camaro, why would you want an american muscle car to be cross bred with a tiny rotary? Also rotaries are easy to mantain as long as you don't mind learning how to do so. Nothing I said was an insult just giving my two cents

  • I'm 6'4" when I sat in a Miata I was sucking on my knees. I bought the car as a rotary daily driver I just couldn't resist the lure of an even more unique car with the V8.

  • @mayhamfx if unique is what you were going for why not go with a 20b?

  • @mayhamfx F*ckin do it! lmao...

  • @RAHHRotas Typical Rotary crybaby. And odds are, you'd get creamed in any form of racing against this V8 powered Rx7, all while he's getting better fuel economy and not using oil.

  • @RAHHRotas yous a mean nigga but yous a right nigga. thats like getting a dog and a cat to fuck hehe. 13b in a corvette cuz? build a quad rotor and put that shit in something decent

  • @RAHHRotas Lol did it ever occur to you he put in a Chevy v8 because he wanted to get more than 10,000 miles out of his car. And as for a 4 rotor that's a money pit. Just the crank kit is 10,000 dollars not to mention gathering the rest of the parts. V8 rx7 FTW

  • @RAHHRotas This car is a work of art. The time and engineering know-how to make this car work and work well is a great achievement. Not to mention I don't think he made any mention that he could beat your car.

  • @RAHHRotas You are the crossbred HOMO for thinking that Ur FC would come close to smoking A LS powered FB. Go home and shoot urself in the foot.

  • time-machine.

  • 3220 lb

  • do you know the total weight of the car?

  • hi I am in the process of installing a 2008 5.3 into a 1986 rx7 and have found the problem with the steering rack. Could you explain how you were able to adjust things to fit. It would be greatly appreciated thanks Q swdiesel@telus.net

  • That's cool. I have a video of a 2000 Mazda MX-5 miata with LS1 Corvette engine on my profile. watch?v=m0jYm3exkrs

  • The corvette never had a 5.3, did you cross a Ls1 with a ls2? probably in the video, wasn't quite paying attention.

  • @alexhc09 The 5.3L is most commonly found in trucks, but they're also in the newer Impala SS and Grand Prix GTX (GTP is the supercharged 3.8L)

  • @alexhc09 nah he just has ls2 corvette fuel rail covers... looks badass huh? lol

  • Terrific Job!!! It looks great, looks almost like its stock; and very professional..... Great vid too!!!

  • Beautiful Job! I am getting ready to swap a V8 into an 83... Thus no emissions issues. Hope mine turns out half as good as yours did!

  • is the the 5.3 an aluminum block?

  • Some are, this one is not.

  • Some are, this one is not.

  • Some are, this one is not.

  • @pblabrat07 best to go with the aluminum block if you wanna keep the weight distribution close to even... the cast iron ones make it for bad turning on the rx7

  • Rotary is junk. Car is much better now. Beautiful install too. What a way to IMPROVE an Rx7 and get rid of Mazda's mistake.

  • I love when people do something different :-) This is one of coolest swaps i have seen yet... I hope you dont have alot of issues "Hats off to ya" Nice Job!!!!

  • nicely done, and personally, i'm about to do this swap into the 89 my brother is giving me... IF it were a turbo, or an FD i would stay with the rotary, but c'mon, NA rotary vs chevy V8? you're right, no brainer better fuel econ, better performance, easier maintenance. people need to realize the chevy V8 isn't one of the MOST USED engines in the world for no reason!

  • OH.. come on.. I wanna see this beast run.. sound bad ass..

  • size to size the rx is 3x more powerful

  • always love to see v8 swaps into rx7's looks good bro

  • i heart rx7 don't matter the color don't matter the engine ls2 or ls1 or 13b or t2.... but please never put a vtec :P and the car did not loose its soul just changed like a hot blond or a hot red head both will do the "job" just as good

  • i like both the rotary and pistons... they both have there ups and downs... people need to get over that shit and just admire the fucking build of the persons car.

you did alot of work, it looks and sounds hella nice..

  • man fuck pistons! wtf is the matter for you

  • Better fuel economy, more power cheaper to maintain, it's a no brainer.

  • @mayhamfx bigger catastrophic FAILURE

    watch?v=SF3r5ImsHXA

  • @mayhamfx lol indeed. piston engines are definitely for the "no brainers"

  • @Bloodwake14 you don't own an RX7 do you. I have one with the 13B and let me tell you, emissions is a bitch. Yea the rotary is a kick ass engine if maintained properly, but i think if i had the money to do the v8 swap, i'd do it in a heartbeat. so don't feel down man. The rotary is still fucking awesome. The V8 is still fucking awesome, its just a matter if you want to blwo the doors off any car, or if you want to blow the doors off any ricer honda.

  • @musclekid13 yeah i have an 86 now nothing fancy stock motor no turbo im saveing for a 427 chevy big block.. then well see what blows the doors off what

  • @Bloodwake14 obviously the 427 will

  • @musclekid13 there are FDs who can trash Z06's on or off the track. that statement is too general. there are also ricer hondas who can trash Z06s or an FD even. you can make any car be it 4 cyl, 6, rotary or V8 into a complete monster. all it takes is money, and the skills to pull it off. all engines are a viable platform to use, it just depends on how it used/modified. rotaries are my thing personally, i love it to death and it works for me. i do however want a 2nd car with a v8 engine in it.

  • @rx7fd9782 But for those of us who don't have the money to drop into a rotary, a 4 cyl or a V6 we just buy a small block chevy.

  • @musclekid13 i dont have money to drop onto a small block chevy myself. swapping a v8 into my FD would actually be more costly than an engine rebuild for my rotary. id rather people put ls1s into a silvia 240 rather than an RX-7.

  • @Bloodwake14

How about what is wrong with you moron? You just got plenty of explanations on how the transplant made the car much better and you still make an assinine statement. Get lost rotard.

  • Awesome that right put a chevy engine in it

  • why !

  • nice job on th install .. looks awesome ..

  • putting american muscle into a Japanese boy.

    makes him a man

    nice

  • this car has lost its soul by removing the rotary

  • @collincn Oh no, now it's going to burn in hell!!! Thank god I'm an Atheist.

  • @mayhamfx it seems like atheists bring up religion more than anyone

  • @mayhamfx atheists are fine but most of them like you dont know the meaning of being one, you just think there is no anything and you rot in the ground where real atheism isnt that at all.

  • @haha96369 what is the meaning of being atheist cause i though atheist didn't believe in god or heaven and hell.. we do rot in the ground like all living things do when they die plants animals and others.. so please explain cause i'm atheist too

  • @143travieso ....and predictably as a true 'atheist', he's hard up for any opportunity to tell the world how theres no god... even at the mere mention of "soul", and even if "soul" was used a a figure of speech in reference to an automobile........ these people are so predictable that just commenting on their nazi-atheism is bound to get you condemned for being a religious nutjob... without investigation into whether or not it's true. yup, it's just *another* brand of ignorance

  • @mayhamfx "Thank God cuz I'm an Atheist" ? yeah that makes so much sense

  • @philthyco i got confused, over here in oz we go by litres per 100km, and we dont get any cool little sports coupes with v8s, just big four door cars like the holden commodore which weigh 1600+ kgs.. just curious as to which version of the ls1 we're talking about too because over here there is a 195kw, 220kw and 250kw version, my friend at work has the 250kw version in a hsv clubsport vt and it chews the gas, so im thinking they're basing their figures on the lowest spec engine?

  • @philthyco fuck yeah your right !(slinks away embarassed) :) my bad

  • Amazing

  • The likes of dazzasmitty and others that are also ignorant can't realize how smart people like the owner of the vid are. Look at the beautiful work that was done. Those people (rotards) are just ignorant assholes that know nothing and just BS and complain becuase they can. They are useless.

  • @aji8 for starters you fuck wit, i love v8s, ive owned 4 of them, but i also like fast, fuel efficient turbo cars, secondley in the last comment you left me you said the ls1 uses less fuel than a 13b rotary.. go check the facts.. a corvette with an ls1 uses 19mpg highway and 28mpg city according to the epa, the fd model rx7 uses 17mpg highway and 25mpg city.. so how is the ls1 more efficient? no lies here mate just proof from your very own EPA.. ps i love what this guys done with his car

  • the 427 is worth a mill ONLY IN AMERICA

(me raceist) please!!!! this is cars we talking bout fool

  • It handles fine. It had IRS in it from the factory, all I did was replace the pumpkin with the Lincoln one. It didn't change the handling. I changed it to get a stronger rear end with a better ratio. A kit is available to put a solid axle from a Mustang in as well.

  • Rotary is junk. This smart individual wanted a good engine and now the car has more power and is far more reliable. It gets better fuel economy too!

  • @aji8 you dont know what your talking about,i had an 5.8 litre v8 which was good for 11.5 down the quarter mile and used $90 dollars per week to get to my work which was 20 kms from my house... i bought an mazda rx4 with rx7 gear box, 13b rotor bridgeport with a t76 garret turbo running 25psi of boost, it got 9.8 sec quarter mile on slicks and 10.5 secs on road tyres and only cost me $60 per week to get to work, so from real life experience the rotor had more power and was cheaper on fuel

  • @dazzasmitty Are you talking about two different cars? What was the weight difference between the two?

  • @Wopadas yeah, the v8 was a holden vh commodore, 355ci stroker motor and it weighed 1370kg according to the rego papers... the rx4 weighed 1188kg

  • @dazzasmitty

I do know what I am talking about, do you realize however you posted a bunch of shit on here. It is shit as you have no proof of what you say. That is the difference between loser rotards like yourself and me. I have proof, all you have is misinformation and lies. Get a life moron.

  • @aji8 wtf? listen you fucktard, just because i live a private life and dont post vids of myself on youtube, doesnt mean im a lier.. and as far as misinformation, where is your so called PROOF that a 5.3 litre v8 is more fuel efficient than a rotary? please show all of us on here because we're dying to see it.. i know what im talking about because ive owned the cars, i have been modifying cars for 10 years so blow it out your ass you cunt... and dont forget to show that PROOF of yours

  • @dazzasmitty

Where is my proof that a 5.3 or 5.7 V8 gets equal or better fuel ecomomy v.s. the junk rotary?? ALL OVER THE INTERNET. You would know this if you weren't so ignorant. How about you go to Edmunds or KBB and look for yourself moron.

  • @aji8 so any time you wanna prove that the EPA in the usa is wrong and that your car review websites that you mentioned are right, go ahead.. lmfao, you really are a fucktard

  • @dazzasmitty

I have multiple sources as proof. All you have is your misinformed mouth. Get lost rotard.

  • @aji8 yeah right, what are these multiple sources? and why the fuck do you keep calling me a rotard?, ive only ever owned 1 rotary car in my life , ive had more v8s and turbo sixes than anything, i notice your page has countless videos of rotaries on it so who's the rotard? all i know is my rx4 was faster and used less fuel than my previous car which was a 355ci stroker motor.. remember the rx4 is a lighter car than an rx7 and i could also run minimal boost when driving to work

  • @dazzasmitty

The Corvette with the Ls1 engine which weighs more than the Rx7 got just as good if not better fuel economy. Another rotard without a brain, go figure. I don't care what lies you post on here. It is evident that you know nothing about cars. Thanks for proving that.

  • fcuk thats a tight fit

  • Mayham - You did a phenomenal job on this car. Take it to the street and show us what it can do. Eat your heart out Wankers!

  • @AllAboutTheQtrMile Oh, so this car runs 6's?

    Didnt think so. *yawn*

  • @chabbalato Did I say this car runs 6's? Didn't think so.*Fart*

  • @AllAboutTheQtrMile I completely agree with you. Mayhams work is high quality. This is not just a swapped Rx7, this is a show car.

  • Ha Ha. Nice job most people will have to take a second look at that car when they hear it run. Ricer wish a Gasser engine under the hood. But honestly I'll stick with my old Crx and the B18a1 save some money on gas and still have some power when needed.

  • Is the block iron or alum and stock bottom or forged?good job bud

  • It's iron and all stock.

  • why don't you make a vid of it on the street man... im trying to do this conversion for my rx7 but not sure if its worth it man ,

  • very good work on this car and vert too that is just awesome. And for the ones who keeps saying V8 are only for straight lines then why is it on BMI (best motoring international) DK was flat out shocked amazed and LOVED the corvette when he raced it against japanses cars of the same value on Tsukuba circuit. oh and lets not forget the ZR-1 that car ran a VERY fast lap at nuremberg

  • I wish I had the money to do things like this?

with my pay as a 17 year old I still haven't rebuild the messed up tranny in my 5.0 :((

  • love it sounds great

  • The owner of this vehicle did a fantastic job!

His attention to detail is impeccable.

As far as I am concerned he rescued a car from a mundane existence with it's crap stock rotary engine and made it into a real sports car.

  • Saying that shows your ignorance. The owner of this vehicle is a genius. One by getting rid of the junk rotary and Two by creating this masterpiece of a car. Only an ignorant person would say what you do. With the youtube name of mudaphucker I can see that!!

  • WOW... you jugdemental thing down to a art Aye..

  • Watch the vid and be amazed at something you could never do if you were 100x more intelligent.

  • no man bull shitt

look, first you americans have to americanize great machines like the AC COBRA

and the E type Jag cos you cant make cars turn so you go and drop a fucking V8 into a RX7 (ROTARY)

fool thats where im getting at

and now this cock snot droped a V8 into a that doesnt have a pistion and just ruened the whole

  • @mudaphucker I agree bro, although the reliability seems to be better on a ls1 than a 12a street ported or a 13b Turbo with a half bridge t04 set up, I'd rather drive the 100K motor on a rotary than an american motor on a rx7 chassis.

    Rediculous.

  • AC Cobra doesn't handle???

You are a complete moron! Thanks for proving that!

The V8 is far better than the junk rotary.

  • @aji8 i do love v8's but if you measure power vs price rotary is the way to go. the problem with rotary is you will NEVER get the torque out of it that a v8 can get, but only weighing 1500lbs... who cares? the only problem with a rotary is if the seals go out it gets pricey, but that shouldnt happen unless your a complete moron

  • what do you mean by cant turn?

  • The ac cobra became one of the fastest cars in the world with the addition of that V8. They have been improved.

  • You need to learn your history of the AC ACE. It was a 2 liter 102 mph car before it was "Americanized"

  • Thanks for passing judgment on my character because my idea of old fashion "hot rodding" doesn't conform with your ideas of what drivetrain should be in what car. Do you shit on every Ford guy that puts a Chevy small block in his 32 roadster? If your so passionate, go buy every RX7 in the world and preserve them. If you own one now, thank me, I just made you car worth more by making it rarer. I own it, I'll do what ever I want with it. :p

  • @mudaphucker....you are one extremely large D-bag sir. Here's your sign.

  • @mayhamfx Right on bro these rotor heads crack me up nasty little Haters. I got s1 and s3 with 383 chev installed and love it. The power to weight is awesome as you would know, Rebuilding car at moment paint etc I,ll save your user name and keep an eye out.

  • Aren't you going to miss changing apex seals on an over weight, under powered pig of a motor just so you can have more power far more reliability an actual torque curve worth talking about and nearly the same weight distribution? Yeah I wouldn't either. Wankel's are neat, but impractical.

  • Very well put!

  • very nice. fuck rotary

  • Nice work. Good that you rid the car of the rotary junk ASAP

  • i think you liek rotory's, cause on videos that dont evn have a rotory you still talk about them, do you have mental problems? do you have to take drugs to help you through the day?...people like that fix them selves on things kinda like you

  • I do like rotary engines as you can get a good laugh from them. I don't turn to drugs like you probably do.

  • what another lame comeback, ill explain it easier in hope you understand, i meant are you prescribed medication to help with your problems, are you given medicine by a doctor? does that make it easier to understand?

  • Sorry if you consider something good lame. You are the lame one. Your prescribed medication comeback is old and overused. Pay attention to the vid and you may learn something good. This car used to be "lame" with the rotary junk. Now it is a really nice car.

  • right, you use the same combacks and lines on every video, but mine are old... ok, "rotard" lol fukkin childish

  • Difference between mine and yours. Mine are the truth, yours are just lies.

  • lol ok "rotard" fukkin idiot. whers your v8 rx7? i bet my car could beat it easy. after all your engine is probly still hanging on the lift.

  • Very nice! In my converted FC I'm running a T5 in my SBC 355 Old Skool setup. I have the S4 TII Posi 8" with the stock 4:10s. Ever since I switched to Mobil 1 Synthetic AT fluid the trans shifts and drives smooth. I also have the Pro-5.0 shifter with a Steeda handle. I don't chunk 3rd nearly as often. The T5 should last a little while as long as you don't dump the clutch too often.

  • your right versus!

  • Pure disrespect to a rotary powered perfectly balanced sports car by americans who only know to built huge engines that can get a car only to straight ....

  • It's a car, get over it.

  • i agree

  • We founded our country on disrespect. Got a problem with that? Get your own FD and keep replacing rotary engines.

The car featured here looks very well built. Maybe you could show some respect yourself?

  • The craftsmanship on this car is without a doubt excellent..I am not arguing about that...In my mind though,a JDM rotary sports car should remain that way in order to keep up for what it was built for, pure track and street excitement..Spare me the patriotism on a video about a car dude..Thats way off topic here ...

  • But it's not a JDM car, its a USDM car.
