  • The lads from 4 hero do every track justice that they remix, not just dnb artists but highly articulate musicians in their own right who have a very broad plain of musical knowledge and imagination

  • Only Louis Vega said this was the best remix he'd ever heard,

makes me proud to have known these guys from their begining.

  • To see, witness this at the Jazz Cafe with her singing and Louie Vega directing was amazing.

  • 4hero's remix is always breathtakingly yesable...

  • to be honest I do like this version better than the original... it's longer.

  • The Fact is when you see them live and how they work that is why they are the MAW.XXX

  • Can the drummer get some love .. he killed it ....

  • just magic, fantastic, mix from the the orginaly rotary connection and the great minnie repperton!!(rip)

  • WHAT KINDA ACT IS THIS??

    CLASS ACT!

  • I love this version. I've added it to my FB group "The Guilty Pleasure of the Cover Version"

  • That was Sunday afternoon club in NYC back in 96' to mid 2000's that housed some of the best DJ's and producers. They only have reunions now every few months, still under "Body and Soul" New York. You can see some of the clips on Youtube. I'm from L.A., so not sure if there are any new clubs that are happening in NYC. Good Luck!

  • The album cover looks like a Quintero cigar box.

  • This is the best remix ever.

  • This takes me back to 1996-97 Body and Soul NYC when they would play this, just in time for a water break from all the dancing and I would get lost into this song.....LOVE IT! Then I'd go back to the dance floor and continue the night away. Such a special time in life, not like that anymore. Peace out!

  • No words todescribe how great MAW are!!

  • A great artist creates a great remix of a great cover of a great song by another great artist

  • Cette chanson...La mienne <3

  • Alltime Classic

  • This takes me back to when times were easy. Shout out to my Bro and rap partner D Smooth from the S.K's DMV stand up!

  • One of the best remixes ever made.

  • there are a lot of people who regard this as the finest musical recording in history

  • Anyone happen to know who played drums on this version?

  • Gilles Peterson used to play this, when it came out, on his radio show. Some of the best drum'n'bass from the mid-ninties. 4 Hero came from Willesden.

  • This great. But the original by the creative force of Charles Stepney and Rotary Connec tion is the shit!. Hands Down! Sidney Barnes vocal in the bridge of the original? Priceless!!!!

  • clearly 5 people are deaf.

  • I lost all the music off my hard drive 3 years back, which was at least 80% of my CD music collection digitalised. It was one of the few things that could get my eyes watery. Found this tune the day after the recovery software the IT company used failed (by chance). It has changed my life forever! I can't look at a "failure" in my life without thinking about how I'm going to grow from it!!

  • Powerful ...Vn

  • Hey, anyone who doesn't feel what this tune really does to you should just stick to listening to all the jank that is flung at their eardrums everyday from mainstream tv and commercial radio. This is just fantastic. Love it!!!

  • SENCILLAMENTE UNA OBRA MAESTRA... GRACIAS sheldon 1983 Y POR SUPUESTO GRACIAS NUYORICAN SOUL QUE ES BIEN PARECIDO A LO QUE FUE SALSOUL ORCH. SERAN HERMANOS????

  • What is with the cut off at 2:54??

  • quality thro and thro ! first time i heard this was in a "fancey" clothes shop in sevenoaks where you had to ring a bell to go in, i was then greeted by two 50+" ladys who lunch" running the shop, 1 hour later had spent a fortune and was directed to small proper music shop "the compact disc" where i bought this cd !!! the rest is history ! thanks

  • 5 people are deaf and didnt like the feeling they got in their assholes when the subbass kicks in, how the **** this piece of music can not touch your very soul, is completely beyond me??!!!

  • 5 peeps ain't got no soul. Poor buggers.

  • @hadoukennumber13............ no soul and no weed ;o)

  • Great track!

  • this is an awesome project!!

  • Everytime I listen to this it gets better. Other - worldly and freakin awesome :)

  • man,.......when the rhodes comes on!!!!!!!!!! serious orgasm. this is a mind bending track!

  • this is one of the most brutal tracks i never heard

  • Always go for the original, but this is an exception....

  • @cyrusbob1 might be the only exception.....man.....maybe the best cover ever

    ever

  • OH MY GOD, i was trying so hard to rememeber the name of this song and who it was by for the last maybe 10 years and FINALLY i was cleaning out my closet and i found a paper with the name and artist. Tears filled my eyes instantly. This song brings back some of the most wonderul youthful memories. Love it!!!

  • @Mileneum69

Listen to "Jazz Radio Lyon"...the best radio station in my opinion. I heard that stuff there two years ago....they sometimes play it.

  • @MultiGemini666 Thanks ill look it up.

  • The original version is much better. This is a watered-down version, in my opinion, with a little added twist. Rotary Connection was ahead of their time with the original--and more eclectic because of it. This version is good, but not even close to the original in style.

  • amazingly delicious to my ears, my body, and my soul ;)

  • fuck me......i am the proud owner of this song on vinyl will have to post a picture on my page x

  • Just so y'all know...this is fucking SICK!!!!

  • HOPPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Legend.. Need I say more?

  • @djslipdisk sir, and thanks...

  • great song...full stop.

  • I truly believe that all of us who absolutely adore this track are bonded in spirit. It is not just a song but a way of thinking, a way of living.

  • @MMMPowell I hear that.

  • <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 :)

  • ma chanson préférée!!!!Du néo soul remixer par des artistes de talents (4hero) ça donne une mélodie d'extase...

  • I just want to say that this fills me with love. FOR EVERYONE. Only music can do this to me. It makes me feel that things will be ok. I loved the original and I always loved 4 Hero. Thank you for making my life that much better.

  • wow!!! what a great work!! great quality too, thank you for sharing it!

    Love

  • Never heard to original but have always love this tune dearly. Will be checking it after having a listen.

  • @crapcaked

Hey man, nobody likes a hater. Just appreciate. BOTH versions are GREAT! The original for it's purity and original vibe. The remix for being able to take greatness to another level. Sheesh.

  • @crapcaked Dont you think that almost everyone who loves this tune has also looked up the origional??... Without this amazing remix a person like me (who loves drum and bass) would never have had the pleasure of hearing the oigional. You should be thankful that this remix exists.. without it many young people today would not have EVER heard the origional.. think about that dude...and stop hatin.

  • @gamblemadman

    WORD!

  • @crapcaked you ignorant, foo

  • @crapcaked

There will always be people that prefer the original version to a re-make or remix and sometimes it's true that the original is best but it can also work the other way round. I respect your opinion but the beauty of music is that it's wonderfully subjective, personally I love the original but I also like the reworks.

To say that Masters At Work are fake because they covered another song is very short sighted, they have an amazing record of productions.

  • @dylan240269

You said it right there. If only more people had this viewpoint! :)

  • @crapcaked 1st, MAW didnt produce it, 4 hero did. It is a remix of the MAW version. 2nd Your opinion of MAW shows your ignorance and lack of cultural and musical education as you have clearly never heard anything of the vast catalogue that MAW have both written and produced, just this one track and then passed judgement.

The MAW album this is from was created as a tribute to such original artists many of which were involved with it and appear on it like George Benson and Roy Ayres to name 2.

  • @crapcaked Bet you feel like a complete ****ing as**ole now dont you. Perhaps, being someone who preaches about not being ignorant and getting educated , you should take a leaf out of your own book and spend the time looking into the artists you bash before blindly doing so.

  • Trés bon remix de 4hero.

  • 2 masters at work!!!!!

  • This is one of the most beautiful and relaxing songs I've ever heard :)

  • sabroso y rico como nuestra isla exquisite maw siempre en algo!

  • this IS the coolest tune ever!!!!

    itunes!!!

  • aaahhhh pure liquid harmonies this tune just does it,a f**ckin arse kickin masterpiece

  • Huge tune !

  • al palomarnene ...

  • This entire album is like a one-hitter-quitter. After one listen, I'm satisfied until I need to replay it again and again (at least once a day before I leave the house and again after a hard day's work). Every track is dope!

  • @compalena

I just said this the other day. This CD came out I think in 96' and has always been my favorite. I heard these tracks at Body and Soul NYC and I just fell in love with it. A Masterpiece!

  • @jaegermexman Body And Soul?? What's that a party, store etc? I'm looking for a spot to chill and hear some good music.

  • @crazyalcayne dayum i'm a lil late for Body and Soul lol! Just saw the other post.

  • I've got this vinyl original mint condition any offers ...

  • Heard it in a small bar in Paris, I simply can´t stop listening to it and just relax...

Its truly a masterpiece that says " we made great music in the 70´s too you know"

  • @risilca Nuyorican soul was made in the late 90`s

  • @Peter1999 Uhhmm yes Peter...but the rythm and the basic root of the song is definately 70ish soul.It even evocates the black power era movement.

  • @Peter1999: This is a remix of a Rotary Connection song from the early 1970s. It's 70's soul, baby, Nuyorican style. Peace.

  • Zu Geil !!!!

  • SICK SICK SICK. That is all.

  • Awesome.

  • Like this version. Sweet.

  • I have a problem...

I can't stop playing this track..

  • Thank You Jocelyn Brown THANK YOU

  • @LEGSUDESIRE

    AGREED.

  • WOUiiiiiiiiii !! Thanks magic !

  • I dont like the jungle part, but what a great track !!!!

  • @Laurent75017

The jungle portion was the best part of the track.. That is what you get from 4hero, the pioneers of jungle/drum'n'bass. Well I guess different people have different music taste, and everyone is entitled to their own :)

  • Yes indeed, you're damn right ; I've never been into drum & bass ;-)

  • INGENIUS!!! FUCKING AWSOME UPLOAD!

  • i want my mini disc deck back!!!!!

  • JAW DROPPING ...nuff said

  • Such musical bliss I love the transtion into jocelyn browns 'its alright' using the same melody, one classic into another.

a superbly crafted album apart from the legendary remixes I think this is MAW's best work.........timeless.

  • Fucking awesome track!!!!

  • I love the violins on the 2nd half drum and bass section .They are very Mahavishnu orchestra.

  • Fabulous fabulous. Gorge memories and memory jolters x x x Heaven.

  • If i had a nickel for how many songs rival this one, I would have one.

  • Comment removed

  • This is an absolute masterpiece, it is timeless and unsurpassed. It is able to effortlessly raise its BPM levels from chilled to drum and base. A total classic in every way shape and form

  • @mumrah33 *bass

    lmao

  • Ah, you spotted my deliberate mistake..... Er...yeah, obviously I meant base :)

  • This is possibly my favourite remix of a track ever, if a human soul could speak of the beauty of life this is the sound it would make, all time classic, epic and vast, dego, kirk, take a bow, when i heard this many years ago, i had thought it could not be bettered, i still think that today..

  • this song isn't about guns and fighting, therefore, SARAH PALIN and REPUBLICANS have no business owning it or listening it.....

  • Who the hell cares about Sarah Palin?

Is her name even worth a mention?

This record is truly beautiful ever since I heard it back in 1997 it has continued to sound just as fresh and it works really well with drum and bass breakbeats 3.48 in.

  • powerfull stuff indeed, other-worldly no doubt

  • I just can't get over how great this is...TIMLESS!....That fender rhodes sounds lovely ; )

sounds like Futures Extinction - paradox commin' in at the end.

  • TUUUUUUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I am somewhere that is not here when I listen to this

  • you got any idea how expensive a copy of the nuyorican mix-cd is ? like 70 euros @ amazon ..

  • totally hypnotic and other - worldly...... awesome...

  • hell yessss!!! I love this song!!!!!!!!

  • que buen disco!!!!

  • Y'all need to hear the original Rotary Connection version where Sidney Barnes sings the bridge, powerful

  • I agree - his voice is powerful, and the lyrics!:

I am the tall oak tree

    I am the jungle stream

    I'm the morning sun

    Smiling on everyone

    I am the shining sea

    I am the mountains high

    I am so free

  • Yeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • yeh tune make me say yeHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • I downloaded the entire 4Hero backcatalogue just for this song!!!

  • locko !

  • A new discovery for me. Love the atmospheric flavor of this song. Wow.

  • Gotta be one f the most beautiful songs ever made? The feeling it envokes .... thanks for posting. x

  • There is an encyclopedia somewhere where this is an entry under, 'Thee Greatest Remix Of A Classic Ever Made'.

    Fucking masterpiece!!

    Nuff said really...

  • Did not think you liked this sort of stuff

  • I have no limits when it comes to music, my only criteria is supreme quality...

This track is top of that list!!

  • So good, it makes me want to cry.

  • Fantastic--- I am the black mole on your bum...........choon

  • This is exactly why I love Dego & Marc (4Hero) for what they do with music & emotions... this is one of the reasons why... WOW!! Such a great tune!

  • I have already posted bout this track, months ago. I have it on my phone and have to say, its been played everyday(more than once) for the last 17 months. i HAVE BEEN VERY VERY ILL AND ALMOST DIED( A FEW TIMES) BUT BOY MUSIC LIKE THIS MAKES LIFE WORTH LIVING. 4 hero U HELPED A DYING MAN LIVE.
