The lads from 4 hero do every track justice that they remix, not just dnb artists but highly articulate musicians in their own right who have a very broad plain of musical knowledge and imagination
That was Sunday afternoon club in NYC back in 96' to mid 2000's that housed some of the best DJ's and producers. They only have reunions now every few months, still under "Body and Soul" New York. You can see some of the clips on Youtube. I'm from L.A., so not sure if there are any new clubs that are happening in NYC. Good Luck!
This takes me back to 1996-97 Body and Soul NYC when they would play this, just in time for a water break from all the dancing and I would get lost into this song.....LOVE IT! Then I'd go back to the dance floor and continue the night away. Such a special time in life, not like that anymore. Peace out!
Gilles Peterson used to play this, when it came out, on his radio show. Some of the best drum'n'bass from the mid-ninties. 4 Hero came from Willesden.
This great. But the original by the creative force of Charles Stepney and Rotary Connec tion is the shit!. Hands Down! Sidney Barnes vocal in the bridge of the original? Priceless!!!!
I lost all the music off my hard drive 3 years back, which was at least 80% of my CD music collection digitalised. It was one of the few things that could get my eyes watery. Found this tune the day after the recovery software the IT company used failed (by chance). It has changed my life forever! I can't look at a "failure" in my life without thinking about how I'm going to grow from it!!
Hey, anyone who doesn't feel what this tune really does to you should just stick to listening to all the jank that is flung at their eardrums everyday from mainstream tv and commercial radio. This is just fantastic. Love it!!!
SENCILLAMENTE UNA OBRA MAESTRA... GRACIAS sheldon 1983 Y POR SUPUESTO GRACIAS NUYORICAN SOUL QUE ES BIEN PARECIDO A LO QUE FUE SALSOUL ORCH. SERAN HERMANOS????
quality thro and thro ! first time i heard this was in a "fancey" clothes shop in sevenoaks where you had to ring a bell to go in, i was then greeted by two 50+" ladys who lunch" running the shop, 1 hour later had spent a fortune and was directed to small proper music shop "the compact disc" where i bought this cd !!! the rest is history ! thanks
5 people are deaf and didnt like the feeling they got in their assholes when the subbass kicks in, how the **** this piece of music can not touch your very soul, is completely beyond me??!!!
OH MY GOD, i was trying so hard to rememeber the name of this song and who it was by for the last maybe 10 years and FINALLY i was cleaning out my closet and i found a paper with the name and artist. Tears filled my eyes instantly. This song brings back some of the most wonderul youthful memories. Love it!!!
The original version is much better. This is a watered-down version, in my opinion, with a little added twist. Rotary Connection was ahead of their time with the original--and more eclectic because of it. This version is good, but not even close to the original in style.
I just want to say that this fills me with love. FOR EVERYONE. Only music can do this to me. It makes me feel that things will be ok. I loved the original and I always loved 4 Hero. Thank you for making my life that much better.
I just want to say that this fills me with love. FOR EVERYONE. Only music can do this to me. It makes me feel that things will be ok. I loved the original and I always loved 4 Hero. Thank you for making my life that much better.
Hey man, nobody likes a hater. Just appreciate. BOTH versions are GREAT! The original for it's purity and original vibe. The remix for being able to take greatness to another level. Sheesh.
@crapcaked Dont you think that almost everyone who loves this tune has also looked up the origional??... Without this amazing remix a person like me (who loves drum and bass) would never have had the pleasure of hearing the oigional. You should be thankful that this remix exists.. without it many young people today would not have EVER heard the origional.. think about that dude...and stop hatin.
There will always be people that prefer the original version to a re-make or remix and sometimes it's true that the original is best but it can also work the other way round. I respect your opinion but the beauty of music is that it's wonderfully subjective, personally I love the original but I also like the reworks.
To say that Masters At Work are fake because they covered another song is very short sighted, they have an amazing record of productions.
@crapcaked 1st, MAW didnt produce it, 4 hero did. It is a remix of the MAW version. 2nd Your opinion of MAW shows your ignorance and lack of cultural and musical education as you have clearly never heard anything of the vast catalogue that MAW have both written and produced, just this one track and then passed judgement.
The MAW album this is from was created as a tribute to such original artists many of which were involved with it and appear on it like George Benson and Roy Ayres to name 2.
@crapcaked Bet you feel like a complete ****ing as**ole now dont you. Perhaps, being someone who preaches about not being ignorant and getting educated , you should take a leaf out of your own book and spend the time looking into the artists you bash before blindly doing so.
This entire album is like a one-hitter-quitter. After one listen, I'm satisfied until I need to replay it again and again (at least once a day before I leave the house and again after a hard day's work). Every track is dope!
I just said this the other day. This CD came out I think in 96' and has always been my favorite. I heard these tracks at Body and Soul NYC and I just fell in love with it. A Masterpiece!
The jungle portion was the best part of the track.. That is what you get from 4hero, the pioneers of jungle/drum'n'bass. Well I guess different people have different music taste, and everyone is entitled to their own :)
Beautifu por migente...we are the blakc gold of the sun.the diaspora...what a beuatiful testimony..beautiful song..still good to this day..what a classic.
This is an absolute masterpiece, it is timeless and unsurpassed. It is able to effortlessly raise its BPM levels from chilled to drum and base. A total classic in every way shape and form
This is possibly my favourite remix of a track ever, if a human soul could speak of the beauty of life this is the sound it would make, all time classic, epic and vast, dego, kirk, take a bow, when i heard this many years ago, i had thought it could not be bettered, i still think that today..
