@MrSkarz19 you spin around after your facing the direction you were facing orginally bring your left knee up jump do a round kick and put your left foot down for a landing
If you want to respect the Brazilian arts - and I do, make no mistake - respect KARATE more than TKD. Kyokushin kai - to which the Brazilians have made an AWESOME contribution - kicks the SHIT outta TKD!
I Train Kyokushin, but its nothin to do with that.
TKD looks good, yeah, It is fast and If u dont know much about self defence thats your end with tkd guy, but Kyokushin is much brutal and powerfull, in tkd centre of gravity is really high and theyre throwing a lot of combinations and flying kicks, and In kyokushin we are waiting to launch one pig punch and concentrating on low kicks;)
Both are great but on the street Kyokushin is the best;) OSU!
haha for real. plus this guys taekwondo is garbage. hes too big and slow. his body is conditioned for mma, if he fought a real taekwondo master under wtf or itf rules he'd get owned.
sorry. warriors came first, then honour. samurai were once mercenary thugs, after a while they developed bushido. think about it, morality is always developed to create order, order only is desired after experiencing chaos. its all about survival. but thats a complex idea im throwing at u.
I don't want to argue about this, but I will leave with this comment. The samurai were not "mercenary thugs" they were the trained soliders whose purpose was to protect the island of Japan. They were not "mercenary thugs" they were not hired for money.
at around 3 minutes it starts to give a brief history of the samurai. from another source, it says the samurai were initially servants, not considered actual soldiers until several centuries after the term was coined. sorry man, reality isnt a dojo brochure. dont get me wrong though, i like ideas of honor and discipline as much as the next guy.
Well, I practice TKD to. It's GTF taekwondo and our practice room we mostly train patterns, self-defense technics, movements,... Fighting is more like, we can fight if we want to, you know...
traditional TKD that i learn from my master was for the army and i was only a 2nd brown belt, when i came to Australia i kicked as a 2nd dan black belt, new style teakwondo for getting point sucks.
Oh man....it depends on in witch association u r. Some wear red belts, some wear brown belts. But a 2nd Brown belt doesn´t exist. Tht would be brown-black belt.
Tae kwon do is a martial art or an olympic sport? I mean, I see a lot of tkd, but I dont see its effectiveness... or its just because the way of tkd coaching in West?
It's both. I've did TKD for 11 years, and it wasn't very practical when I got into fights. I've been training in Muay Thai for the past 2 years, and it's way more practical and effective than TKD.
it all depends on wht kinda TKD you learn if you are learning the amerianized style like most form of it around here then i isnt very useful in a real life situation. But if you are learning the more traditional version of it its more usful. Because it somewhat resembles Muay Thai.
For tournaments, you get points based on how many times you hit someone. Thus, a lot of power is sacrificed for speed, and head shots are worth more points - thus, you win with rapid kicks to the head. More traditional TKD focuses almost entirely on power. Kicks seldom go above the waist and are designed to hit hard with the hip as the main pivot point. You don't see a lot of it here, mainly because traditionalist know that, next to the flashy stuff, it just doesn't look that impressive.
What you see now days of Tae Kwon Do (more like Take your Doe) is crap. Everyone is a black belt mill. If you want to see what old tae kwon do was like, Watch some of the old ROC Soldiers from Korea. Unfortunatly many of the old school tkd ROC soldiers have walked away from the WTF ITF ect because it sickentd them to see what happened to the art
I think what your saying is a load of crap! You can look at any martial arts form and say their black belts aren't as good as yours or that they are just pushing people through. Everyone picks on American TKD becuase they took the initiative and made some money on it, not to mention the fact that they created one the largest martial arts organizations in the world. I don't care how wimpy you think modern TKD is, it's been proven that it is still one of the deadliest and most powerful art forms.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Surely you jest. If you're talking about modern as in the last 15-20 years you are completly insane. The crap they are teaching, the feel good, tell mommy you have cleaned up your room and get another star on your uniform!! You need to go to the psycho ward. And the crap they teach the adults is nothing of what even the watered down Art of TKD was as poor as that was. Please, wake up and smell the coffee
You talk about old styles,do you know what they stressed? Being good people, self-control,etc. We've strayed from that.Star sheets are used with younger kids. Their purpose is to teach manners,self-control, respect, confidence, etc. You can teach a 10 year old kid to do some flying kick butt kick, but that's not what's important. These kids need to learn manners. That's why we use those. Our focus is to help people, kicking butt comes second. If you have a problem with that, that's your own issue
i've been doing mma for a few months now, its nothing but muay thai with spinkicks and elbow round twirls up tha a** its pretty good though, i've been doing muay thai for 9 years so this is like a small extension of my training
One Question: wtf is Gary Busey doing in all these martial arts movies? First Blizhniy Boy and now this? Not that I have a problem with it, but it's almost a juxtaposition in and of itself.
No its Taekwondo. I think u been mistaken by Olympic WTF Taekwondo where they dont really allow the punching to head so nobody punches.. wbut welcome to real TKD :D
Not exactly, the current form of MMA, well UFC MMA, is not directly based on JKD or Jun Fan Gung Fu but on the subset of BJJ known as Vale Tudo(anything goes)which arguably started in the 1920's. But don't take this to mean that I don't have the highest respect for JKD. I trained at an Inosanto certified academy for over 3 years in JKD, this is just a clarification.
It's not Taekwondo overall. MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). The main guy is played by Andre Lima who is a 6th Dan in Taekwondo under WTF (World Taekwondo Federation). However, he also has 13 years experience of BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu).
i'm a tae kwon do junior black belt also and thats more of jujitsu than tae kwon do......it rather be called jujitsu or something and i mean the title of the video.....
The star (Andre Lima) is a Taekwondo champion and Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Rigan Machado in California. He also competed in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
