  • @johnwallaceist i 2nd that,jack!!! lmao!!!

  • Ok im convinced she can make any song KISS ASS!!!

  • Tossing her hat up in the air on Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis, not NYC ...

  • All I can think of is Mary Tyler Moore tossing her hat up in the air at Columbus Circle.

  • @5277407 right...i mean, if she was gonna play this crap anyway, she shoulda gone whole hog and wore a hat and then tossed it in the air at the end

  • Did she just cover a 70's T.V. themesong, and rock it like it was well....err a Joan Jett rock song?...what can't she rock out? She has no fear, she can rock anything.

  • Crikey!

  • Keep it in your "world wide" pants, Dave.

  • AWESOME.. blow me

  • @mrLioneMafia Haha nice joke XD

  • She just rules so hard.

  • I can see Mary and Rhoda dancing around the apartment to this.

  • Love her direct look straight into the camera and sneer, growl, half-wink, and Rock-It !

  • I love this look on her! Pixie with bite.

  • As much as love this lady...( mucho )

A TV show theme song ..really ??

Must have been a very rough spot to do that...

  • @flyyspit tHIS IS WHAT GOOD PUNK MUSIC IS SUPPOSED TO SOUND LIKE

  • This is prof that she is capable of performing more than "Glitter-stomp" songs. She has gotten better musically over the years.

  • I would so...ugh!...she is so hot.

  • This version blows the original(s) out of this planet

  • i wanna learn how to play this song...

  • Love Joanie and that freakin guitar..If you know what I'm talking about<3

  • Husker Du has version of this from back in early 80's .

  • It seems a consensus that this live version was as good or better than the studio version, and it had more energy, if that's possible. The only thing missing was the power of the studio backing vocals, but the live energy covered that without any problem. I'm guessing that was Paul Shaffer adding the little keyboard lick at the very end. I was very impressed with Joan's vocal live on this video --- her vocal is very professional and spot-on with no letdown.

  • she always looks hot.

  • The woman knows how to work a camera. She looks at the camera at key moments in the song and you feel as though she is singing the song right at you. love her.

  • she's badass.

  • fuck i didn't know it was even on that show, i just knew this song because Husker Du put it on the Makes No Sense At All single as a b-side

  • who is this 1 asshole ??

  • as good as the album version O.o

I loooove her XD girl crush XD

  • omg she looks like dante in the new devil may cry game there making

  • Kick ass song, great job of filming by the Letterman crew. Joan you rock!

  • I wanna marry her!

  • fucking awesome!!!

  • god those eyes are killin me.

  • i really like her hair.... this is one of my favorites by joan. ;)

  • Original song was written by Sonny Curtis, a member of the Crickets, who (obviously) did't board the plane with Buddy Holly in February, 1958.

  • I remember seeing this when it aired. I still have yet to find the CD it was on....

  • when i was in high school, she just was getting big, she did a show at six flags over ga.. i fell in love with her, then somebody told me she was a dyke, broke my heart

  • @whb1965 I thought she can do both, can't she?

  • *sigh*

  • her eyes are still as magnetic as ever.

  • I admire her, she grew up in a generation when female role models were rare..sadly that hasn't changed much *cough*lindsay lohan* I FUCKING LOVE HER

  • love her,

  • This is awesome :-)

  • @gamwtospitakisoy αν και η Joan Jett ειναι ψευτικη οπως λες, καλυτερα να αυτοκτονησουμε ομαδικως. keep on rockin joan.

  • this was originally the theme song to Gilligan's Island but then the producers realized the lyrics had nothing to do with the show. After that, the writer (Sonny Curtis) nearly sold it to the Mormon Church as the theme song for sitcom about Brigham Young but since the words were about a girl, that too made no sense. Finally Mary Tyler Moore decided to create a show based on the song, borrowed some money from Richard Nixon to buy a camera, and the Mary Tyler Moor show was born.

  • what year is this?

  • oh... i am so in love with Joan Jett.

  • she was born in '58. So if this is from '96 she would have 38.

  • Tony Bruno!!!

  • Shes so cute when gives the stink eye

  • She. Doesn't. Age.

  • woh. that was magic!

  • wait a minute. What year was this in?

  • what year guys?

  • This song kicks fuckin' ass.

  • love her style in this video.

  • wow, that's a woman in 50? she is amazing!!!!

  • This clip is from 1996. So she would have been in her mid-30s then. She's now 51, and still looks great.

  • glutubular- your second comment cracks me up!! Go ahead and crank it--they will understand!!!!

  • Did she ever do an extended version of this studiowise? The version on the best of is under a minute and that's all I've been able to see listed sales sites.

    Anyone? Anyone?

  • CHRIST! SHE'S TINY!

  • Paul adds the dingle dingle at the end, sweet.

  • Is Will Lee on bass?

  • this woman is so intense!!! and she still is today, at 50 years old :)

  • Excellent, is all I can say!!

This song gets me, "up and going" when feeling negative and/or sluggish.....

The extra 'umph' that Joan Jett puts into it, makes it extra special!

  • Much better than the original theme song of the Mary Tyler Moore show.

  • I'm hoping my neighbors love this song as much as I do and enjoy hearing it a couple dozen times a day (and night).

    Just kidding.

I don't care if they like it and it will be hundreds of times.

Actually, I'm a good neighbor and wouldn't do anything like that intentionally. But if I trip and grab the volume knob on my stereo to stop me from falling and accidentally turn it all the way to the right, I'm sure they'll understand...

  • I really like this version. My favorite.

  • Awesome version of this song. Thanks for posting this.

  • Husker WHO ??? NOBODY does it better than Joan ! NOBODY!

  • She also does an awesome cover of Have You Ever Seen the Rain.

  • she does amazing covers of millions of songs :D

  • Yes (bowing my head in shame), I think this is better than Husker Du version.

  • Love this clip! Anybody know what year this is from?

  • 1996 i think
