When he first talked about you at one of my lessons, he expressed disappointment that you didn't pursue virtuoso-type solo work (as you know, he thought you placed too much emphasis on the stratosphere). He thought so highly of your playing - and you've confimed his opinion with this.
Yes it was different. Not a fantastic musix experience, but more of circus act as the carnival often is. If you listen carfully you don't any missed notes though.
And of course Arban did not write the Carneval, he did one of many versions that was done to show of, all the famous cornett players had their own version.
So, if we follow the Claude Gordon method we too can miss half the notes on Carnival, fart out some pedals and squeeze out a double F after who knows how many takes? All to a really happenin', sparkly arrangement.
