I grew up w/parrots, love em to death and currently have a mini macaw and a conure. I would suggest to anybody wanting a parrot to not purchase one from a breeder but instead look to groups like Best Friends and "rescue" a parrot. The conditions of most breeders are appalling, to say the least. And the pet trade has led to the decimation of these birds in the wild- though currently, deforestation is the primary cause.

Hahn's Macaws live up to 60 years. They are very high maintenance birds. They require a full and varied offering of foods including fresh fruits, vegetables, pellets, very little seeds, and a LOT of attention. My Hahn's came to me at 12 weeks. Anything younger is not weaned properly and would not have fledged the nest naturally. Anyone who gives a 2 month old parrot away or sells it is irresponsible and disgusting. Parrots are not set it and forget it pets. You must keep this in mind.

I want to get a Hahns Dwarf Macaw, but i want to get one for a cheap price. I'm 14 years old, would you say that I'm ready to get a MINI-MACAW?

i broght home a hahns macaw abotu 2 months old. But i noticed its lower beak was somewhat crooked. It seemed squished from the right side or overgrown from the left. Due to this i kept it less than 24 hours and had to take it back since i would not be able to pay for vet bills to have it checked and cured. and if there was a growing problem, I would not be the best person to take care of it. Does this problem occur with other hahns?

I did feel very terrible that i gave it back.. :(

I would wait on getting a macaw, they live 50 years and demand a lot of personal attention, so it's a big commitment.
