You first since you are presenting unsupported claims of lies and deceptions from FOX media but fail to recognize the same type of lies and deceptions from Mediamatters. You need to recognize all who use these tactics; even if you call them friends.
wanderer: Fox News lied about the death panels, and making private insurance illegal.
You made the claim about media matters, so you back it up. You claim that EVERY one of their videos is a distortion of the facts so you should easily be able to support your assertion.
No one has heard any real details; only a lot of bull from both sides. If there were real facts then they would be presented on all news stations and not just on Obama vision NBC.
Don't you dipshits at Mediamatters do any historical research of former governments that have suppressed their people? Well this is how it happens! Do what's best for the people and start questioning instead of following blind.
MsWanderer1: the real details are readily available by googling HR3200 and reading the bill. You can also watch NBS, ABC, CBC, CNN, or, MSNBC. They have the FACTS down, only Faux News is intentionally lying about the details of the bill.
That's strange that the media outlets have the details and yet our congressional representatives have not. Call your representative and verify who's lying. I think you'll find Mediamatters has its own agenda with their own interpretations of truth.
I have heard many Democrat congressional representatives who are obviously very familiar with the details of HB3200, just none that are Republican. I haven't seen one comment from ANY Rep. representative or senator that isn't an outright lie, or an obvious deception of what is stated in the bill. Why do you think that is?
Media matters position is clearly stated but I would like to see one piece of information from them that alters the truth of any issue.
I would like to see one piece of information from them that DON'T alter the truth; in fact I would like to see that from anyone who belongs to any agenda driven group. Be a cynic and don't choke on the bull crap.
I would like to see you prove, with factual evidence, a pattern of Media Matters showing distortion of the truth. You have 10 minutes to make your case.
Faux News has a blatant of agenda of furthering conservative propaganda. Media Matters has no agenda other than exposing the lies and distortions being perpetrated by Faux News, et al.
FOX NEWS+RUSH LIMBAUGH+8 years of Republicans voting together on issues that got us into the mess were in+fear tactics= A large percentage of dumb Americans who fell for all those things AGAIN! Fox News for 8 years was the BUSH NETWORK. Rupert Murdoch came out in an interview saying that it's their job to support the Bush policies. During the 2008 campaign they were the MCCAIN NETWORK. Give it up. read a book. "History has a known liberal bias"
Here is an idea, why not compromise? Instead of making single payer a government run insurance policy, why not start it off as government run for a year or two, then after it is up and running turn it over as a nonprofit private company. Do something like they are GM. The government owns it for now and then turns it over to the private sector. It will offer everything Dems want in coverage, but it will later have to support itself with its premiums. That way it won't be socialised healthcare.
They did a poll a few years ago asking which TV station people got their news from and then asked them a few quesions about the Iraq War. PBS viewers scored the best while FOX News viewers scored the worst.
It would be interesting to see a similar survey now about what news outlet has the dumber viewers, listeners, or readers re: health care. I'm with you and Seder in thinking those who are Todd fans wouldn't score too high.
Under Obama's government health care scheme, the elderly will not be able to get whatever care they want whenever they want it. Care will have to be rationed, and the government will be deciding who lives or dies.
Now explain to us what is bad about reducing preventable re-admissions. It is far more cost-effective to "fix" the patient the first time. Hospitals routinely release patients too soon and then in short order they relapse and must be re-admitted to re-treat the same condition. I've seen this firsthand with my grandfather this year where he's been re-admitted twice for the same condition.
I simply named a passage of the house bill. Any non sequitur is the fault of the team of lawyers and accounts that wrote the thing. The language is vague and can be interpreted in a number of different ways. The people who seek to regulate our health choices want to keep their options open.
Referring to a section that you think might have ambiguous meaning does not support your assertion that HB3200 would result in health rationing. Strike three you're out.
Smugness is a common trait among leftists. Basic economics tells us care will have to be rationed under a nationalized government health care system. Not everyone can get everything they want. If I want 10 CAT scans, I can't get them. If Grandma needs to stay plugged into the feeding tube, well, she might not get that either.
basic economics and reality tells us that medicine is being rationed and denied to those who cant' afford it. because it's profitable to do so.
Without Medicare, many seniors would be S.O.L.
Maybe before the "right" lectures people on economics, they should realize that they spent decades destroying the economy with pie in the sky promises of trickle down and "free markets" that never worked.
That does not fit the definition of rationing. The problem with the Republicans is that they often talk free markets, but then cave in to protect this or that interest. Truly free markets, without the corrupting influence of government meddling, are the best path to prosperity and freedom. The reason is simple. You know what you want to do with your money better than the government does. (If they didn't take so much of our money we wouldn't need Medicare.)
No because the profit motive is what is making these insurance companies deny people coverage for a pre-existing condition, what makes them drop people's coverage when they commit the sin of getting sick, and jack their priced up 119% in 10 years. From Regan until now there has been minimal government intervention with the private sector and it has only gotten worse. Pure free markets don't make it easy for you to become rich, they make it easy to stay rich by making everyone else poor.
the profit motive manages to deliver every other good and service that we need. Health care is no different. If the government would just get out of the way, the market would sort it out like it does everything else.
As Barney Frank said "On what planet do your spend your time?" -- don't you know health care is RATIONED NOW!!! 50 million uninsured; others under insured ....people avoid or can't go for routine check-ups or treatments. Listen to folks in ALL the OTHER industrialized nations -- instead of Fox News & the insurance propaganda -- they like their coverage! And those countries AREN'T wanting to change or end their programs
Obama took millions in campaign contributions from the insurance lobby and other health care lobbies. What makes you so sure his plans are in the interests of ordinary people and not the fat cats he works for?
that is not rationing. That is supply and demand. Take a look at the health systems in these other countries - they are broke, just like their host nations.
if they're broke, why are they higher on the healthcare scale than we are. France is number 1 and were 37th. Stats provided by the world health Organization. So people being denied for pre-existing condition is just a point of supply and demand? Are you THAT ignorant? We've been providing you with facts, statistics, history and real life stories and all you contribute is attacks, non-realistic views, arrogance, and right wing talking points. I would say that's an EPIC FAIL.
Yea..."supply & demand" just like right NOW... people denied coverage & care due to greedy PROFIT motive -- disgusting! Sorry (read the other comments) & Europe is moving toward economic recovery -- their system is not broke --ours is!
Health care is a RIGHT not a privalidge for the well-off..or those fortunate to have employer-plans.
First, Europe usually has 10% unemployment, so us Americans would hardly be happy with their "recovery".
Second, the profit motive is what brings you food, computers, and everything else. To think of health care as a right is to misunderstand what a right is. You cannot have the right to the labor of another.
We as a society already believe health care is a right. Otherwise hospitals would have no requirement to treat anyone who comes into the emergency room.
it's only vague and can be interpreted because you don't understand the words being written. You're not a lawyer and you've never bothered to learn about the legal system or how to read govt documents. with this piece of legislation it's not regulating a citizens choices, it's giving YOU the citizen more options and more support especially in the area of end of life counseling, example Terry Shivo case.
It is giving me less options, and more government regulation. The law would demand that I (a childless man) pay for prenatal care. All plans would have to offer it to and all people would be forced to pay for it. That is hardly competition.
If you are a lawyer, you know you wouldn't have a job if the law wasn't vague by its very nature.
tell me how it's giving less options? we need govt regs because well guess what without regulations, were in the situation were in now. The free market turned against us and our capitalistic system became broken. Without regulation, comes greed, with greed comes rationing because you don't want to give up your money. But there's a difference with this bill and deciding if a law is vague or not. This bill isn't so vague in the sense if you just read it, you would know.
There are currently a huge number of regulation on health insurance providers. That is exactly the problem. I have to pay for prenatal care (I'm a childless man) in my state. Everybody has to pay for tons of things they can never possible get. We cannot buy insurance from another state or country. We have almost no options thanks to government involvement. Now they are trying to take away all of our options... except the government option.
not really... but that's an ideological debate. In football, you have a ref who makes sure the game FOLLOWS THE RULES. If you take out the ref, then the football teams can do whatever they want. What happens in the end? someone could get hurt, there's no clear winner, one team might have advantage over another for some reason... We need regulations to keep things in check. Now with some regulation there will be conflict but to suggest all (not saying you said that) regs, restrict, is false.
No, it is true. For example, when I was a child I owned some cool fake guns that looked real. Some years later, the politicians passed a law which made those toys illegal. So, now little Timmy cannot buy a cool toy, thanks to one of about a billion regulations on the books.
that's not rationing... thats saving money, by doing the job correctly FIRST HAND on both the patient and the doctor. Rationing of healthcare would be like how the private insurance companies deny people for preexisting conditions or because they may dean a helmet as cosmetic on a baby, when the baby needs the helmet to live... that's rationing of healthcare. That's not what that section of the bill suggest. You really didn't read the bill did you?
WOW! I know you ONLY read the title and didn't read the actual section. If the likely hood of a person being readmitted for preventable reasons, that needs to be reduced, so there's an incentive for doctors to not make mistakes. To use Obama's example about this. If your car is having engine troubles and you take it to the car shop, they "fix" the problem but then the problem resurfaces a week later, you go back to the shop and they recharge you for their mistake. that's what this part is
Typical liberal survey. Of course you can read "one section" of the Bill and it'll sound like there's no problem with it. However with a 1,100 page documnet there are plenty of other details that make this a trainwreck bill.
Face it people the Government and it's Union assholes fucks up everything!
They are only protecting themselves and the companies that support them.
Like the Dumb Negro Prez says the Post Office can't compete with FedX or UPS...even with their $8B subsidy!
or you could read NONE of it and believe there are "death panels" that will kill ur grandma once Obama raises Hitler from the grave and embodies his rotted corpse...
It's all about spreading disinformation to gain political power. I'm sorry... did anyone mention the word "truth"?? Hehe! What planet do you think you're on?! Get outta here!!!
Haha......Less than 50 percent support Obama...More oppose him than support him. His healthcare plan is sooo bloated it makes the Clinton plan.....
Which I supported back in 1996 look like childs play. Obama rode the "I'm the first black president" thing long enough. he had NO federal experience leading. He had less than one term as a senator and made fun of white people in his book "The Audacity of Hope" Don't believe me? READ IT. Obama is a one term president who is going down as the worst....
Yo obamadidit2008.... take the magic negroes dick out of your mouth for awhile! It seems to have pushed your pea brain up against the rocks in your head!
The Magic Negro is a fraud... name one program this idiot ever was involved with that succeeded in it's mission! Face it he's a lying fucking moron!
I think you forget the standards in order to get into this program of the public option. You still have to pay premiums. it's not UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE like people think. Also, if you've listened how it will be paid for you would know that a good percentage of the proposal can already be paid for, the rest is by tax payers. What's being proposed is a tax increase on the top 2%. which would bring tax hike to about 49.8% which is still A LOT less than that of Reagan's tax increase.
Obama made statements supporting the cutoff of elderly healthcare. "Take a pill" ring a bell.
A democratic Senator said herself that the plan would cover abortion. Abortion is not mentioned in the bill. Since the bill is silent about the procedure it is covered.
If Obama gets his Amnesty passed all the illegal immigrants will be legal, then covered by the plan. So technically, if the president gets everything he wants, illegal immigrants will be covered.
There is no way a child understands the complicated issues underlying the fear and hate the sign she's holding is supposed to inspire; and she should not be made to hold it up as if it were her informed opinion. Legally, she doesn't even have the capacity to form an informed opinion; but that's besides the point.
The exploitative use of children, for whatever reason, is unacceptable.
These republicans are so stupid. Even their idol Pres. Reagan said trust, but verify. But do the republicans listen? Republicans, that means after you watch FOX tell you about Death Panels you then go online (its a searchable PDF) and VERIFY that section of the bill talks about Death Panels.
Obama's plan is to make everybody happy and healthy an wealthy. Right? Who could be opposed to that? Only mean people. I get it....and I'm on board now! Thanks NBC News for explaining it to me!!!!
It's 1000 pages but equalvalent to a 200 page novel. It's large print, double spaced, large margin, lists. Most that read it won't understand it anyways. It was written by lawyers to be complicated and boring.
From what I read, it will end private insurance. It will force them to comply to new rules that will eventually banrupt them and i doubt they will get a bailout from anyone.
"From what I read, it will end private insurance. It will force them to comply to new rules that will eventually banrupt them and i doubt they will get a bailout from anyone."
You should go back and re-read the first 80 pages or so. There's nothing in there that will do away with private insurance. Profits from major health insurance companies went up nearly 500% between 2000 and 2007. There's plenty of fat to trim in their organizations.
I don't know about congressmen reading the bills but I do know that they have staffers who read the bills for them, to which they relay most of the details of the bills. This is a practice in govt that has gone on for years, EVERYONE does this b/c with the amount of legislation they have to read, they would be reading NON-STOP. I read through HR3200 in a day and read through HR672 within a day. Many things written in bill that ppl seem to not get. It clearly states NO illegals will be covered
Ethically, we can even debate whether the pursuit of happiness is an actual right. That's a moot point.
We have to decide whether it is in the interest of the American people to have all American's covered so that they can receive health care, or we have to decide whether it is not in our collective interest.
We can debate that on its merit, but it doesn't have to be a right for us to decide it's a positive step for the country.
the GOP would rather death panels be setup so that they can choose to 'pull the plug on granny' or deny the poor some healthcare - after all the GOP doesn't think its a right.
the gop should send off these non-productive people to extermination camps so the people with a silver spoon up their ass dont have to pay for them!
That's the thing, it's isn't in the Constitution because perhaps they thought we'd wouldn't have to be told about our the greater good, looking out for our fellow man, and that Christian virtue, charity. Perhaps they overestimated a bit...
According to Obama's plan, doctors will be secretly ordered to poison Republicans.
A list of Republicans is being compiled right now, for just this purpose. But of course ITS ALL BEING DONE IN SECRET!! So nobody, EXCEPT ME knows about it.
Not only that, but the entire state of Utah is going to be gassed with a nerve agent which will make them all turn away from Mormonism. SOME SAY, it will make everyone in Utah a Muslim.
In Idaho, the government is putting acid in the water RIGHT NOW!!!
I knew the voices in my head were right! They tried to warn me about this but it was hard because they were all trying to talk at the same time and one of them stutters. It can get annoying at times...gotta run, they're fighting now!
Add to the mix all the seniors who somehow can't make the connection that the Medicare that's keeping them alive is one of those god-awful socialist programs.
I saw it again today, an eighty-something actually quoted as saying, "I don't want the government involved in my Medicare."
And now, these same people, Hannity, Limbaugh, Steel, the whole group of them are back peddling like mad. Because the Dems are saying no Public Option, no bill, no reform..all of a sudden, I hear on Hannity's radio show, they are all for "credits" for the poor and Senior Counciling for end of life decisions!! I lost it, right there in the car, I totally lost it..scream "YOU FUCKERS! TRYING TO HI JACK THE BILL AND MAKE IT YOUR OWN!!"
The time to take action is now. You need to CALL and let your voices be heard. Visit the comment section of my profile in order to see how you can get more involved and find the facts regarding health care reform. Thanks
First off, we already pay for abortions and medical care for illegal immigrants, so even if the plan supports that, so does our current system. The government also already decides on elderly care, because the insurance companies wont take elderly people.
Now for the statistics themselves, they are all bullshit. You are asking the incorrect questions to get these answers to begin with.
aquamadman, 1. did the martians suck americas brains dry before their proported mission date? 2. did glenn dreck do it first? 3. did the g.o.p. do it before dreck and obama.4. were a lot of americans dropped on their heads after birth because they were so damned ugly, which caused permanent brain damage.
actually they reworded the questions for example they didn't ask about "death panels" they reworded the questions because that was too politicized. They also learned that when you call the public option a gov't option, it gets a different reaction, public choice option got better scores. If you say the original report in it's entirety you would know Chuck Todd talked about how they worded questions to make sure people aren't persuaded by other means.
I see... We are still dealing with a crap load of Americans that don't know what the new plan actually is still. They don't realize it is a public option. Then they tie crazy ideas like the death panel that companies already have to ensure their profits. So nothing changes really, just who is making the choice. At least this way we can fight back against what we don't like by voting and protesting, which is easier to do than protesting huge companies.
More proof that FoxNews runs the GOP along with Limbaugh. Hell even the real Republicans wont stand up to all this fear tactics and propaganda because they are scared shitless of Limbaugh and FoxNews.
Remember when people protested Bush with signs comparing him to Hitler and the Devil. What did FoxNews and the GOP say about that? That they were abusing the 1st amendment and were un-patriotic or terrorists.
Funny that now the shoes on the other foot the protests are praised by FoxNews.
that the American people haven't learned their lessons from 2003. Even when REpublicans are at an all time low in the polls, the American people STILL fall for their lies and scare tactics. These NBC polls were nothing more than a litmus test for testing of how stupid the American public is. Funding abortions? if people knew anything they would know that's 100% illegal. Illegal immigrants? HR3200 clearly states that Illegals WILL NOT be covered. they're not ignorant... they're stupid
HR3200 states clearly that illegals won't be covered, but even stupid people know that that bill will be amended to change all kinds of aspects of government health care. Look at social security. It was intended as an old folks pension program but over the years it has morphed into a general welfare program which helps many more than originally intended. Even stupid people know that govt. health care will eventually cover illegal immigrants. There are too many Hispanic votes involved.
But guess what? Illegal immigrants don't get to vote so how would that affect the way politicians behave? And second, you are blaming the government for something that havent even done yet. You are speculating that they are going to do something and demonizing them for it. Your argument doesn't exist so I reccomend you stop trying.
Hispanic voters support illegal immigration much more than non Hispanic voters. Politicians will in the future move to cover illegal immigrants under govt health care to sew up the Hispanic vote. That's not speculation. There is no reason to put American health care under the control of our crooked politicians.
no. It states in HR3200 that illegals will not be covered. But illegals will still get medical treatment like they do right now. If you go into the emergency room, they will get treated but it's payed for by tax payers as are all the uninsured people currently, everytime they go to the emergency room, it's funded by tax payers. That's not going to change, pple deserve healthcare. Why are you making this political? This is about helping people where was the outrage of the Iraq war? huh? where?
And your opinion is "RIGHT", pun intended, from Fox, Savage and Limbaugh? Face it, racism is the real reason for these protests, not health care or any fears of Socialism, Comunism, or Dictatorship
Actually that would only be valid if it were Fox News- they are known to be a bit too biased. Not that other Networks aren't, but Fox News does not even bother sometimes... oh remember Obama and Michelle's "Terrorist Fist Bump"? Hhahaha Priceless.
Seriously though- you cannot just dismiss presented facts out of hand without any proof.
It is sad that to change some folks minds they had to be read the bill, they couldn't even be bothered to read the bill they are protesting! When faux news is the main source of info for a majority it speaks volumes about the level of inteligence in this country. This reminds me of the movie " Idiocracy" all I need now is some gun toten redneck to tell me " fox news, it's got electrolytes!!"
no, 4% of people don't know what to believe because of stupid fucks, religious groups, and Fox News who all are distorting the truth to confuse people. Hell, that is the reason most of the people who Oppose it chose that side.
Its nice to know that 43% of Americans wouldn't recognize a fact if it bit them in the ass. Those who keep repeating the lies of conservative talk media are the same ones who scream about the government lying to them. Stupid is as stupid does.
That is an outrageous number of people who don't listen to the facts. I know that the republicans hate it when we say that americans are stupid, but most of them are. For some reason they don't listen to the facts and just make up shit to make themselves more angry.
One example - Obama is trying to reform health care so that THEY will save money, and what do they do? They fuck him over and say that they don't want it. It just doesn't make any sense at all.
Actually, most Americans see how the government wrecks almost everything it touches and they don't want government running their health care. That's why Obama's health care reform is going down in flames right now. Do you seriously want the same people who run the DMV, the Iraq War and "Cash for Clunkers" running your health care? Most intelligent people don't.
That is a completly non-sense argument to say the government wrecks everything it touches. Police, fire departments, the military, public schools, financial aid, disaster reliefe, parks, roads, bridges, safety regulatiions on toys, health regulations of food and drugs, emmissions regulations on cars, even Cash for Clunkers is considered one of the most successful government programs of all time.
The government does things well when those things are so expensive, noone else would do them. Public safety, food and drug regulation, space exploration, disaster relief come to mind. Some things are better left to private companies. Private schools generally educate better than public schools. And government health care may very well be worse than private health care. We may very well be throwing the baby out with the bath water on this one.
I heard that Obama's health care plan is going to cut off aid for any manatees over the age of 8. What the hell, Obama? Is this true? I heard it's true, so it must be true.
I won't support this health care plan that wants to kill our manatees. This is worse than Marxism, Socialism, and Fascism combined. It's like . . .Smoxshism.
Goddamn democrats! Why are they pushing this goshdarn hiphop music into our simple, blessed homes? Next it'll be those smurfs, and then the tobasco sauce, the dreadlocks, pogs, electric toothbrushes . . .
you would think... it's so obvious what people like Chuck Grassley and other politicians are trying to do, spread the word of "death panels" and such to rile the crowds, but, WE know that they know that those things don't exists. It's so sickening to clearly see someone play politics and play to the fear of the people. Sarah Palin, shame on her
Isn't it amazing? Severely mentally retarded Sarah Palin outmaneuvered the great genius Hussein Obama and threw a wrench into Obama's health care reforms. How did that happen? See, she understood that Obama is throwing senior citizens under the bus by defunding Medicare and that got the seniors all riled up.
Yes that is so true, Sarah Palin who is not even in government anymore, thinks she can see Russia from her Porch, and that Africa is a country is the only person in the entire country to read the provision on death panels for what it is. Couldnt possibly be the fact that she just made something up like the rest of the republicans, touche good sir.
You're confused. The person who said she could see Russia from her porch was Tina Fey, the actress on TV who impersonated Palin. Sarah Palin never actually said that. The bottom line is Hussein Obama is done with his health care reforms. He's decided to put his reelection above the health care needs of the American people plus he's owned by the private insurance corporations. Obama is a lying scam artist.
you're an idiot. Referring to Obama as "Hussein Obama" even though that is his name, is very ignorant and just because his name is 'Hussein" who cares? Also Obama is fixing the system of medicare by getting rid of the wasted money in the program. He's not doing anything to disrupt medicare, a GOVT run program. Also, Sarah Palin supported these so called "death panels" in the past with her Healthcare Alaska day which mainly was about healthcare and end of life counseling. this was in 4-16-2008
Dude, Hussein Obama is his name. How can it be ignorant to call someone by his name. And you're calling me an idiot? Dude, put down your crack pipe and go in for some counseling.
yeah, you're ignorant. It may be his name, but the ONLY purpose people like yourself bring it up is because it's related to a tyrant dictator. There's no reason to bring it up. If you disagree with Obama on his policies, fine, but usually intelligent beings don't have to resort to pettiness to disagree, like yourself.
They called Nixon by his middle name Milhouse. So it's OK to call Obama by his middle name. There's no reason not to call him by his name. It's not a racial or religious slur. Deep down, you must be offended by Obama. You don't really accept who he is. To act as you do that there's something offensive about the man's own name shows you have a problem with Obama and that you're not really being honest about it. Perhaps deep down you yourself aren't ready for a Black President?
don't even try to pull that crap. You know exactly what you're doing. First off, I'm black and I'm happy we have a black president (mixed race) and it shows the advancement we as Americans have made in culture since the 1960s... now we just need a woman president. nice try though, but it's very clear your intent in what you're doing. I will ask you this question. DO YOU SUPPORT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA the 43rd President of the United States of America? Did you vote for him?
When I agree with what Hussein Obama is doing, I support him. When I disagree with what he is doing, I oppose him. I do not support or oppose him because of his skin color as so many so obviously do. This enables him to work for large multinational corporations and for foreign interests and still have the unquestioned support of large segments of the population. Obama is bad for America and no I did not vote for him.
nice try f, chuck todd.

Here's one -
Reducing Potentially Preventable Hospital Readmissions, pages 284-288, Section 1151
jeffmagic32 2 years ago
"Reducing Potentially Preventable Hospital Readmissions"
Now explain to us what is bad about reducing preventable re-admissions. It is far more cost-effective to "fix" the patient the first time. Hospitals routinely release patients too soon and then in short order they relapse and must be re-admitted to re-treat the same condition. I've seen this firsthand with my grandfather this year where he's been re-admitted twice for the same condition.
kaysandesses 2 years ago 2
I was asked to show where the house bill containes mechanisms for the rationing of health care services. So I did.
jeffmagic32 2 years ago
No, what you showed was a non sequiter. It's not rationing healthcare, it's prompting hospitals to fix people right the first time around.
Nice try, better than most I'll admit.
kaysandesses 2 years ago
I simply named a passage of the house bill. Any non sequitur is the fault of the team of lawyers and accounts that wrote the thing. The language is vague and can be interpreted in a number of different ways. The people who seek to regulate our health choices want to keep their options open.
jeffmagic32 2 years ago
jeffmagic,
Referring to a section that you think might have ambiguous meaning does not support your assertion that HB3200 would result in health rationing. Strike three you're out.
Have a nice day.
kaysandesses 2 years ago
Smugness is a common trait among leftists. Basic economics tells us care will have to be rationed under a nationalized government health care system. Not everyone can get everything they want. If I want 10 CAT scans, I can't get them. If Grandma needs to stay plugged into the feeding tube, well, she might not get that either.
jeffmagic32 2 years ago
basic economics and reality tells us that medicine is being rationed and denied to those who cant' afford it. because it's profitable to do so.
Without Medicare, many seniors would be S.O.L.
Maybe before the "right" lectures people on economics, they should realize that they spent decades destroying the economy with pie in the sky promises of trickle down and "free markets" that never worked.
You have to have credibility before you use it.
booley 2 years ago 2
That does not fit the definition of rationing. The problem with the Republicans is that they often talk free markets, but then cave in to protect this or that interest. Truly free markets, without the corrupting influence of government meddling, are the best path to prosperity and freedom. The reason is simple. You know what you want to do with your money better than the government does. (If they didn't take so much of our money we wouldn't need Medicare.)
jeffmagic32 2 years ago
No because the profit motive is what is making these insurance companies deny people coverage for a pre-existing condition, what makes them drop people's coverage when they commit the sin of getting sick, and jack their priced up 119% in 10 years. From Regan until now there has been minimal government intervention with the private sector and it has only gotten worse. Pure free markets don't make it easy for you to become rich, they make it easy to stay rich by making everyone else poor.
cronos225 2 years ago
the profit motive manages to deliver every other good and service that we need. Health care is no different. If the government would just get out of the way, the market would sort it out like it does everything else.

jeffmagic32, and stupidity and selfishness are the common traits among leftists and libertarians.
obamadidit2008 2 years ago
As Barney Frank said "On what planet do your spend your time?" -- don't you know health care is RATIONED NOW!!! 50 million uninsured; others under insured ....people avoid or can't go for routine check-ups or treatments. Listen to folks in ALL the OTHER industrialized nations -- instead of Fox News & the insurance propaganda -- they like their coverage! And those countries AREN'T wanting to change or end their programs
marcostar57 2 years ago
Obama took millions in campaign contributions from the insurance lobby and other health care lobbies. What makes you so sure his plans are in the interests of ordinary people and not the fat cats he works for?
electango 2 years ago
that is not rationing. That is supply and demand. Take a look at the health systems in these other countries - they are broke, just like their host nations.
jeffmagic32 2 years ago
if they're broke, why are they higher on the healthcare scale than we are.
ERAUPRCWA 2 years ago
Yea..."supply & demand" just like right NOW... people denied coverage & care due to greedy PROFIT motive -- disgusting! Sorry (read the other comments) & Europe is moving toward economic recovery -- their system is not broke --ours is!
Health care is a RIGHT not a privalidge for the well-off..or those fortunate to have employer-plans.
marcostar57 2 years ago 2
First, Europe usually has 10% unemployment, so us Americans would hardly be happy with their "recovery".
Second, the profit motive is what brings you food, computers, and everything else. To think of health care as a right is to misunderstand what a right is. You cannot have the right to the labor of another.
jeffmagic32 2 years ago
We as a society already believe health care is a right. Otherwise hospitals would have no requirement to treat anyone who comes into the emergency room.
concordat 2 years ago
it's only vague and can be interpreted because you don't understand the words being written. You're not a lawyer and you've never bothered to learn about the legal system or how to read govt documents. with this piece of legislation it's not regulating a citizens choices, it's giving YOU the citizen more options and more support especially in the area of end of life counseling, example Terry Shivo case.
ERAUPRCWA 2 years ago
It is giving me less options, and more government regulation. The law would demand that I (a childless man) pay for prenatal care. All plans would have to offer it to and all people would be forced to pay for it. That is hardly competition.
If you are a lawyer, you know you wouldn't have a job if the law wasn't vague by its very nature.
jeffmagic32 2 years ago
tell me how it's giving less options? we need govt regs because well guess what without regulations, were in the situation were in now. The free market turned against us and our capitalistic system became broken. Without regulation, comes greed, with greed comes rationing because you don't want to give up your money. But there's a difference with this bill and deciding if a law is vague or not. This bill isn't so vague in the sense if you just read it, you would know.
ERAUPRCWA 2 years ago 2
There are currently a huge number of regulation on health insurance providers. That is exactly the problem. I have to pay for prenatal care (I'm a childless man) in my state. Everybody has to pay for tons of things they can never possible get. We cannot buy insurance from another state or country. We have almost no options thanks to government involvement. Now they are trying to take away all of our options... except the government option.
jeffmagic32 2 years ago
Regulations restrict consumer options. By definition.
jeffmagic32 2 years ago
not really... but that's an ideological debate.
ERAUPRCWA 2 years ago
No, it is true. For example, when I was a child I owned some cool fake guns that looked real. Some years later, the politicians passed a law which made those toys illegal. So, now little Timmy cannot buy a cool toy, thanks to one of about a billion regulations on the books.
jeffmagic32 2 years ago
that's not rationing... thats saving money, by doing the job correctly FIRST HAND on both the patient and the doctor.
ERAUPRCWA 2 years ago

ERAUPRCWA 2 years ago
Obama made statements supporting the cutoff of elderly healthcare. "Take a pill" ring a bell.
A democratic Senator said herself that the plan would cover abortion. Abortion is not mentioned in the bill. Since the bill is silent about the procedure it is covered.
If Obama gets his Amnesty passed all the illegal immigrants will be legal, then covered by the plan. So technically, if the president gets everything he wants, illegal immigrants will be covered.
NBC is Obama mouthpiece.

There is no way a child understands the complicated issues underlying the fear and hate the sign she's holding is supposed to inspire; and she should not be made to hold it up as if it were her informed opinion. Legally, she doesn't even have the capacity to form an informed opinion; but that's besides the point.

You should go back and re-read the first 80 pages or so. There's nothing in there that will do away with private insurance. Profits from major health insurance companies went up nearly 500% between 2000 and 2007. There's plenty of fat to trim in their organizations.

pvhs1988 2 years ago
Why does health care have to be a right?
Ethically, we can even debate whether the pursuit of happiness is an actual right. That's a moot point.
We have to decide whether it is in the interest of the American people to have all American's covered so that they can receive health care, or we have to decide whether it is not in our collective interest.
We can debate that on its merit, but it doesn't have to be a right for us to decide it's a positive step for the country.

First off, we already pay for abortions and medical care for illegal immigrants, so even if the plan supports that, so does our current system. The government also already decides on elderly care, because the insurance companies wont take elderly people.
Now for the statistics themselves, they are all bullshit. You are asking the incorrect questions to get these answers to begin with.

actually they reworded the questions for example they didn't ask about "death panels" they reworded the questions because that was too politicized. They also learned that when you call the public option a gov't option, it gets a different reaction, public choice option got better scores. If you say the original report in it's entirety you would know Chuck Todd talked about how they worded questions to make sure people aren't persuaded by other means.
ERAUPRCWA 2 years ago
I see... We are still dealing with a crap load of Americans that don't know what the new plan actually is still. They don't realize it is a public option. Then they tie crazy ideas like the death panel that companies already have to ensure their profits. So nothing changes really, just who is making the choice. At least this way we can fight back against what we don't like by voting and protesting, which is easier to do than protesting huge companies.

djtyg 2 years ago 4
that the American people haven't learned their lessons from 2003.
ERAUPRCWA 2 years ago 2
HR3200 states clearly that illegals won't be covered, but even stupid people know that that bill will be amended to change all kinds of aspects of government health care. Look at social security. It was intended as an old folks pension program but over the years it has morphed into a general welfare program which helps many more than originally intended. Even stupid people know that govt. health care will eventually cover illegal immigrants. There are too many Hispanic votes involved.
electango 2 years ago
But guess what? Illegal immigrants don't get to vote so how would that affect the way politicians behave? And second, you are blaming the government for something that havent even done yet. You are speculating that they are going to do something and demonizing them for it. Your argument doesn't exist so I reccomend you stop trying.
cronos225 2 years ago
Hispanic voters support illegal immigration much more than non Hispanic voters. Politicians will in the future move to cover illegal immigrants under govt health care to sew up the Hispanic vote. That's not speculation. There is no reason to put American health care under the control of our crooked politicians.
electango 2 years ago
This is about helping people where was the outrage of the Iraq war? huh? where?

We need to stop clinging to the old ways and let technology do our work for us.

Faux News must be throwing a shit fit about this right now.

LMAO
My first thought exactly. I'm sure they'll combat it with a poll of their own.
GiaSexxx 2 years ago 2
why would they? they and some of the more vocal members of the GOP have been successful in obfuscating the real HC plan and freaking people out.
As it stands they have created so much noise that they may have effectively stalled , or neutered if not outright killed HC reform.
OrbisFerrum 2 years ago
nope they will come up with ssmome bullshit facts of there own like 96% of people in the entire world are against the obama plan.

53% Favor
43% Oppose
4% are indecisive morons.
Innize 2 years ago
no, 4% of people don't know what to believe because of stupid fucks, religious groups, and Fox News who all are distorting the truth to confuse people. Hell, that is the reason most of the people who Oppose it chose that side.

I agree. They are being used to promote a message they can't fully comprehend.
rawman18 2 years ago 2
Its nice to know that 43% of Americans wouldn't recognize a fact if it bit them in the ass. Those who keep repeating the lies of conservative talk media are the same ones who scream about the government lying to them. Stupid is as stupid does.
trauts01 2 years ago 13
Something like 39% of the US believes in the theory of evolution. I'll give you a second to let that sink in.
*facepalm*
That means roughly 61% do NOT believe in evolution... stunned level of stupidity in this country.
So when only 43% believe the lies about HC reform, I think we might be making progress. And that's still incredibly pathetic.
EscpdFrmPsykward 2 years ago 4
That is an outrageous number of people who don't listen to the facts. I know that the republicans hate it when we say that americans are stupid, but most of them are. For some reason they don't listen to the facts and just make up shit to make themselves more angry.
One example - Obama is trying to reform health care so that THEY will save money, and what do they do? They fuck him over and say that they don't want it. It just doesn't make any sense at all.
fma891 2 years ago 3
Actually, most Americans see how the government wrecks almost everything it touches and they don't want government running their health care. That's why Obama's health care reform is going down in flames right now. Do you seriously want the same people who run the DMV, the Iraq War and "Cash for Clunkers" running your health care? Most intelligent people don't.
electango 2 years ago
That is a completly non-sense argument to say the government wrecks everything it touches. Police, fire departments, the military, public schools, financial aid, disaster reliefe, parks, roads, bridges, safety regulatiions on toys, health regulations of food and drugs, emmissions regulations on cars, even Cash for Clunkers is considered one of the most successful government programs of all time.
cronos225 2 years ago

It's like . . .Smoxshism.

I heard that Obama's plan would force us all to have sex with the easter bunny, while the illumininati shove synthetic dildos up our asses.
I also heard it will force senior citizens to listen to 50 cent CDs

Goddamn democrats! Why are they pushing this goshdarn hiphop music into our simple, blessed homes? Next it'll be those smurfs, and then the tobasco sauce, the dreadlocks, pogs, electric toothbrushes . . .
I want my country back!

thats in the cap and trade bill. The cap part is a mandate forcing everyone to wear those ridiculous dreadlocks caps
3star2nr 2 years ago 6
But can we still kill old people?
wiredcoder 2 years ago 6
Not only can we. We must. It's in the bill. It says every American must kill a senior citizen in order to qualify for health care.

you would think... it's so obvious what people like Chuck Grassley and other politicians are trying to do, spread the word of "death panels" and such to rile the crowds, but, WE know that they know that those things don't exists. It's so sickening to clearly see someone play politics and play to the fear of the people. Sarah Palin, shame on her
ERAUPRCWA 2 years ago 5
Isn't it amazing? Severely mentally retarded Sarah Palin outmaneuvered the great genius Hussein Obama and threw a wrench into Obama's health care reforms. How did that happen? See, she understood that Obama is throwing senior citizens under the bus by defunding Medicare and that got the seniors all riled up.
electango 2 years ago
Yes that is so true, Sarah Palin who is not even in government anymore, thinks she can see Russia from her Porch, and that Africa is a country is the only person in the entire country to read the provision on death panels for what it is. Couldnt possibly be the fact that she just made something up like the rest of the republicans, touche good sir.
cronos225 2 years ago
You're confused. The person who said she could see Russia from her porch was Tina Fey, the actress on TV who impersonated Palin. Sarah Palin never actually said that. The bottom line is Hussein Obama is done with his health care reforms. He's decided to put his reelection above the health care needs of the American people plus he's owned by the private insurance corporations. Obama is a lying scam artist.
electango 2 years ago
you're an idiot. Also, Sarah Palin supported these so called "death panels" in the past with her Healthcare Alaska day which mainly was about healthcare and end of life counseling. this was in 4-16-2008
ERAUPRCWA 2 years ago
Dude, Hussein Obama is his name. How can it be ignorant to call someone by his name. And you're calling me an idiot? Dude, put down your crack pipe and go in for some counseling.
electango 2 years ago
yeah, you're ignorant. It may be his name, but the ONLY purpose people like yourself bring it up is because it's related to a tyrant dictator. There's no reason to bring it up. If you disagree with Obama on his policies, fine, but usually intelligent beings don't have to resort to pettiness to disagree, like yourself.
ERAUPRCWA 2 years ago
They called Nixon by his middle name Milhouse. So it's OK to call Obama by his middle name. There's no reason not to call him by his name. It's not a racial or religious slur. Deep down, you must be offended by Obama. You don't really accept who he is. To act as you do that there's something offensive about the man's own name shows you have a problem with Obama and that you're not really being honest about it. Perhaps deep down you yourself aren't ready for a Black President?
electango 2 years ago
don't even try to pull that crap.
ERAUPRCWA 2 years ago
When I agree with what Hussein Obama is doing, I support him. When I disagree with what he is doing, I oppose him. I do not support or oppose him because of his skin color as so many so obviously do. This enables him to work for large multinational corporations and for foreign interests and still have the unquestioned support of large segments of the population. Obama is bad for America and no I did not vote for him.
electango 2 years ago
ooo calling him hussein as his first name. no you're not racist at all. trying to
