Why do Christy Moore songs get comments from retards on youtube? Stop acting as if you know it all, boys, you know fuck all. Christy is a genius, and if you don't agree - I don't care! It's only my opinion versus yours, and we're mere human beings. I'm no better than you (well, most of you - him with the hat in the corner is an exception to every rule).
I think is is just a really nice song. It's quite sweet. :) It's kinda childish, and I think that that's just how it works. I love it with passion. <3
I'm from Southern Eire (west coast)......from what I know, see, feel, hear :there ain't no greater living folk singer/songwriter[from the emerald shore, than he!!!!!Here's 'mud in your eye 'christyXXXXCreashonrebel
I remember Christie performing this song on the Late Late when Gaybo still hosted. I am quite sure he said he wrote it for his children. And Christie have up the drink years ago-
Jarrahnut, I am pretty sure that the harp sound comes from a Yamaha DX7 preset or ROM cartridge. The DX was a popular 80s synth famous for being able to make bell-like and percussive sounds (the lovely bells in Feed the World for example).
I was totally bowled over by this song, and that harp sound when I first heard it, and 15 years on both can still make me shiver - in a good way. Always a pleasure to hear again.
Christy Moore .. what can i say... i listen to this with my family when we go over the mountains because theres no signal...its the best radio station you would ever find..Legend!!!
God, he brings me home on the wings of his music tonight....and I couldn't care less if he wrote it himself, I know who I am listening to at this moment (((Voll wie eimer, leckere Rotwein Christy, du verstehst, oder?)
I know this may "take some believin", but the lyrics are not Christy's. I recall him saying this on a live recording some time back. It's Colm Gallagher
try googling: "Colm Gallagher + Christy Moore"
or "Colm Gallagher + Christy Moore + California"
thanks for posting this recording.
I wish someone would post the 2004 DVD recording of Good Ship Kangaroo
Colm Gallagher indeed did write it, and Christy wouldn't for a second have you believe otherwise. You should also hear Colm's song "St. Patrick's Dance in San Fernando". Christy's version is on the Yellow disc of the box set. Good times.
