Boat courses teach that boat accidents are about 2% of the population. Of that 2% you have Seadoos and their like accounting for 99.9% of the accidents. My son took the course...he went with a friend....in 20 seconds he had fallen off.

The other fact is boats handle different than Jet skis do. They cannot turn or stop as fast and untill you operate a boat it is hard for a jet skier to understand. The safe jet ski operators are the ones who know the rules and most likely have boating experience. Be safe out there.

I also teach my buddies on our PWC, because it's easier to handle, and frankly will do less damage than a boat, should they hit anything. But i run them through all the rules and regs, and hold them accountable, but i see your point. i think it comes down respect of the machine, or lack there of. Too many people think they're just toys.

No matter what I said to people riding them they always came close to hurting themself or others. They are a alot of fun and I like tearing it up as much as the next person. Most inexperienced riders just don't keep a safe distance from other boats and skis and I think they out number the experienced riders.

As a long-time stand-up set ski rider, I learned the most important thing is to never get tunnel-vision and always look around you ESPECIALLY when someone else is sharing a wake with you. But I get uneasy around most other sit-down Sea-doo riders when they dick-off around me too... Stand-up riders are 90% of the time usually more responsible and experienced.
Oh ad if you're at Havasu or Mojave, watch the fuck out for the boats, we almost ran down some fool at 80mph in a Daytona.

all the people that get sit downs are in-experiance and just get one to say they have got one,
i myself ride a sit down but i have been riding for 4 years now, i have seen the dickheads that didnt know what to do.
most sit down riders just throw them around and dont look around at all, i have been cut off many times and someone stops dead in my tracks. some people are idiots. some know how to ride. dont go blaming all sit down riders, blame the idiots.

In fact MOST people you see on PWC's are inherently careless. They get caught up in the fun and simply lose caution. I look at every PWC'er on the lake as a fool who will likely hit me if they get too close. Just a precautionary measure that is backed up by stats. Most are fools.
