@lyricandsong1 Thank you for the compliment. My Grandson, Eli, started whistling at age six. Now he is fifteen and one of the best whistlers for miles around.
This is really interesting. You did a great job making this whistle. I like your Irish song. You have a great speaking voice. Have you ever thought about recording stories on a CD. Your voice is very professional.
Wood rots, shrinks, expands, is inconsistent, more difficult to work with and gives no better music when you are finished. The shape of the interior of the instrument is what matters.
RicTheGrt - by using materials on hand you continue a "noble" tradition of humankind for the last 15,000 plus years - using materials you have handy to make music. Extraordinary! Thanks!
One of the nice things about playing the whistle is that you play it solo as well as with accompaniment. Tune doesn't "need" backing - it would have a different sound. Different ain't necessarily better - only different.
What exactly do you mean by "heat gun"? Is it a soldering iron or a glue gun or something different? And how do you heat the CPVC evenly with it? I've been making CPVC whistles (mostly for myself) for the last 10 or so years and have been hindered by the limiting pipe sizes. But you've shown me how this may be be overcome. Many thanks for that!
Heat guns are sold in the paint department and are uset to heat paint that is to be stripped off. If you use a heat gun anf rotate the CPVC you will get eeven heating. Wooden mandrels work better than steel in my experience. Have fun making whistles
where can you purchase cpvc?

Interesting experiments on the whistle why not try more nobler materials - wood etc ?
The tune really needs a lot of backing from string instruments but out of interest its also known as "Nelly An Chuil Chraobhaigh" in Irish. !!

Besides I do not have the tools.
But CPVC gives me a lot of fun.

Keep on with the NOBLE use of the materials you have. Respect to you.

I'm very much impressed. Now I have to look into heat guns and mandrels....

Heat guns are easy, you buy them! Mandrels are more difficult, you have to make them! Good luck!
