So he got it wrong, big deal, had he said that 30-40 years ago he would have been right, because of our origins. At least we got the exposure...? P.S. holy Hio bomb, he said it like 12 times, haha.
Had he known ANYthing about the 110, he would not have said "hundred and" (annoying), and he would have known that the 110 is THE most exciting band in the land. He probably missed the halftime show. His loss.
He may not be able to count or to take the time to check his facts, but at least he recognizes the 110 as one of the best college bands in the nation!
Wow, announcer dude....just LOOKING at the band on the screen you can see that there are clearly more than 110 members. You may not have the specific facts, but use your common sense.
227 strong, and the name comes from when the band was called The Marching Men of Ohio, which then evolved to The Marching 110 when the band went co-ed, and when that number actually reflected the number of people on the field during pre-game. The name stuck, and there you have it. In case you were wonderin'.
Well...I've worked in sports television since graduating from Ohio in 1969, and was also the first announcer for the 110/110 Marching Men.
These announcers do an incredible amount of homework -- but not for the halftime show.
It's seldom these days that marching bands get any airtime or any commentary at all. So, let's forgive the guy. At least he mentioned the band.

Further proof you don't need to know what you're talking about to be on TV.
