  • the bass line is beautiful!

  • My favorite one off the new album so far! Wonderful!

  • the drums sound more like the wake than any of those bands. also youre missing out orange juice and perhaps josef k.

  • @UltimateVenom I agree with Orange Juice and Josef K. I don't know the Wake. Thanks for the lead.

  • @shawniemar the wake are the drums favourite band. they even interviewed them on this channel. early wake stuff is post-punk akin to early new order/late joy division. mid-eighties stuff is less raw with more synth but still amazing, late-eighties stuff is twee pop/indie pop when they signed to sarah records. i implore you to listen chronologically, and start off by listening to the song "on our honeymoon". it would be amazing to have some more fans of the wake :)

  • @UltimateVenom Wow! I'm pretty lame because I am a fan of many of the bands who started with Factory (or stayed with Factory), of course the obvious ones like Joy Division & New Order, but also The Railway Children, Kevin Hewick, A Certain Ratio, Section 25, Durutti Column, OMD, Stockholm Monsters, and I'm sure I'm leaving some off. I guess the Wake just passed me by. I'm like what I hear.

  • @shawniemar i'm a huge fan of ACR, vini reilly and section 25. your taste is impeccible.

  • @UltimateVenom This the second part of the first message:

As far as the 80's - I was in my 20's then and heavily into the above-mentioned bands and the whole jingly-jangly guitar thing like R.E.M. (up to Life's Rich Pageant), The Feelies (I'm friends with them), and then I was swept away by New Zealand's Flying Nun label. Incredible stuff! But one of my favorite bands then was Eyeless in Gaza. Do you know of them? Listen to Faceless and Veil Like Calm. Phenomenal!

  • @shawniemar your friends with the feelies? christ, i've only just got intto them but they're amazing. i only have on eyeless in gaza song on my ipod. i'll definitely look them up. i'm only 20 now and cool older people get jealous that i have more music knowledge than them haha

  • @UltimateVenom Yes, I understand that - my daughter is 13 and has much more advanced tastes than her friends, who are into the mainstream crap--ugh. She likes the Drums too. Got her into Guided By Voices early on & I remember asking her, when she was little, what lullaby she wanted me to sing. She said Hot Freaks by GBV. Dave Weckerman from the Feelies was my boyfriend back in 1988/89 & he's still a best friend. Def listen to more Eyeless in Gaza. Wonderful stuff.

  • that on the left play the bass? right?

  • they really don't remnd me of any other bands. its just the setting of this video that looks very 80s

  • i dont see Joy Division in them i really dont lol

  • This band has that Joy Division vibe.

  • Reminds me of the whole 2000-2006 post punk revival sound, notably Bloc Party

  • Let's get this straight:

    Morrissey

    The Smiths

    Echo and The Bunnymen

    Joy Division

    The Cure

These are all brilliant artists that The Drums remind me of, but ultimately,

This is The Drums, and I love it!

  • @ExtradensicMusic you mentioned five of my top bands lol. i love the drums also !

  • @ExtradensicMusic Thanks for this comment :D so true

  • i got personally invited to thier last texas show by johnny pierce himself and myles

  • @blowhornjoe fuck yeah, that's amazing¬.¬

  • @ToolsnFire you're right. I was getting The Drums show confused with the Matt and Kim show. Those were the only two shows I've seen at The Loft.

  • tear

  • sounds like echo and the bunnymen

  • HIs voice has got a lot better!! :)

  • @JPJPJPJAMESJPJPJP Much much better! I'm glad for that!

  • @JPJPJPJAMESJPJPJP It's always been good. I just think he tried to do his own thing, something new live. I saw them play in San Diego in early 2009 and from that performance to watching later youtube videos to me seeing them last year, I noticed he changed the vocals to the songs. Glad to see he went back.

  • @ChevyDerald that would've been November of 09, not early 09

  • @JPJPJPJAMESJPJPJP The whole live performance has got better! the guitars sound so much better with a bit of overdrive on them. This is by far the best lineup for the band! Can't wait to see them next week! :D

  • I like how it numbers what camera is being used at that time in the bottom left corner :]

  • go look up Elkland, the band johnny was in before this. my god... so fucking different

  • so bizarre, one of the few bands that make more than music nowadays

  • lol deep comments

  • This is hands down my fave track on the new album. I have been a fan since 2006. Anyone remember Goat Explosion? Short but oh so sweet. The Drums encapsulate for me what has been missing. Something fresh and vivid. I can't quite put my finger on it but I feel like I am in an other worldly place when I hear their music. I have seen them live twice and cannot wait for the third time!!!

  • @ritt253620 I have all Goat Explosion's tracks if you want you can listen them on my youtube channel

    regards from Italy

  • great! I think they should do more often such songs with a dirtier feeling in it.

  • Something familiar, yes. Something beautiful, yes

  • joy division+david bowie.. anything new? ...no

  • @drbas81 lol wtf not at all.....

more like the beach boys x the honeydrips...

  • @drbas81 i think its more of a joy division + the smith. but there's definitely a joy division vibe in there

  • Once again, they break us off with some next level epicness!

  • And our days go by

    And I never needed you

    And our days go by

    And I never needed you

    We were just wasting time

    We were just wasting time

    We were just wasting time

    We were just wasting time

    We were just wasting time

We were just wasting time Bitch!

  • I love Tuesdays

  • I love these Visomento vids. This is how Pierce should sound live. Not the crappy way he did it from the last album. That thing he does with his voice. I don't know, it sounds so annoying. But, this is great.

  • @EddieRanger1989 yea that deep voice i think he does it because he is nervous in front of the crowd

  • @EddieRanger1989 I love how Jonny performs live, his voice and his quirky little dances!

  • Connor just can't play guitar. This song is great in studio, but...They need Adam back!

  • best song in the world

  • @matteolazazzera you have not heard much music yet, right? :D

  • @drbas81 the Drums is my favourite band, and this is my favourite song

  • @matteolazazzera ok... no problem with that.. but for sure, not the best song ever ;)

  • @jweightmanmusic cool hair bro

  • I'll never get the first comment :(

  • @Justinmeatybonds oh stop worrying about getting a first comment you utter sadcase.

  • this sounds so good live
