i am looking into a t500 from milehi but i read that i should stay away from turbo yeast because if you get any particals at all in your boiler the ethanol will tast like dog piss....is this true ????
ive purchased a mr distiller, and tripple distilled tirbo yeast, i follwed all the directions, its been going 3 days now, it does smell like a brewery but it doesnt have a foam head like the video is it because your using 48 hr yeast or because i dont have a vaccum break or did i do something wrong
Since you're making sugar shine, you could use your hydrometer to measure the sugar water first before adding the yeast, then as the fermentation progresses you could sample it again and do the math to determine how much alcohol percentage is in the solution. You'll know when it's done optimally then and not be wasting either time or materials to get the most alky from your run. Just a thought.
i wish i would have seen your video before i made the mash the first time! i didnt take the cap off the air lock and the house smelled like bread and there was a huge mess around the container!
I got one of your stills. It is one of the EASIEST units to work with! Craftsmanship is OUTSTANDING! Turbo yeast works great...so SIMPLE! Still also works great with other recipes. I did have to call on a question, I was impressed that Mike (the guy in the video) answered the phone. I will continue ordering as long as you guys keep up the great service!
Nice video!!!! But if you only get a gallon or two of fuel out of 17 lbs of sugar. looks like it would be better to just buy gas. Or am I missing something here?
He's not making whiskey or white lightning here people. He's making ethyl alcohol for fuel only because that's what his license gives him permission to do. You can switch out the ingredients and make whatever you like, but it's illegal to make distilled spirits for human consumption in the USA unless you have the correct license and pay taxes to the government. There are all kinds of recipes for moonshine and whiskey on the Internet.
Ps. These other people leaving feedback are idiots! Boil before drinking?! Skim off the foam!?!? I've got an idea for you, look up anaerobic fermentation and give the guy a break. Come to terms with your stupidity and shut up or educate yourself before offering your inbred feedback.
Pps. 1 gallon of 95% etoh from a 20L 18-20% solution seems like an unbelievable yield of an azeotropic distillation... I mean that's really pushing theoretical limits eh. But its possible and got me sold on a mile h
Good info! I like what you'll doing. I was surprised that the yeast doesn't need aerobic activation time. Looks like a wicked strong strain, I'll be ordering. Keep up the good work eh!
No experience with alcohol, as of yet. So, ,,, did I get that right? You go through all that time, expenditure, and effort, to produce 1 gallon of 92+%?
Is that right?
Looks like you've spent more on sugar, alone, --- not counting your equipment, yeast, & electric bill, than what the gallon of alcohol is worth.
Why so much yeast??? You could make that bag of yeast last a year. Yeast multiplies almost instantly right? And it keeps duplicating itself so really you can start off with just a little yeast and it will work the same right?
I'm looking forward to receiving my complete starter kit in the mail! I'm going to use spring water or filtered water though as our tap water is horrible!
I have been under the impression that the water that you use to make the mash needs to be distilled water as most "city water" contains chlorine which will kill the yeast. Is this not correct.
Also ..... would you happen to have a procedure for preparing a corn mash for use in the 8 gallon distiller? thanx!
@The97tj methanol comes from the yeast fermenting pectin. There are pretty high amounts of pectin in fruits especially oranges, apples grapes and alot of other fruits. That's why cider gives you such a bad hangover. The only way you'll ever die or go blind from methanol is if you do it on purpose. Don't even worry about it at all especially in batches with no pectin like rum and beers
Im a homebrewer and we always have to be aware of sanitation. I have noticed that I haven't seen any type of sanitation in your videos or its just not part of your videos but are you sanitizing off camera or are you just not worried about it?

you need to boil it before you drink after fermentation !!!!!!!! sanitizing is very important for safety, hydrometer could help
