Jesus fasted for 40 days that means he didnt eat or drink anything....he still survived and was as healthy as ever.... if he could do it im sure that 10 bites plus water is sustainable especially just for a month... still unsure? What about the all times famous lemon diet or the detox diets .... so if u choosing a temp solution to shrink u stomach and learn portion control i dont see why not

  • I find the hardest thing for me when dieting is getting enough nutrition. Smaller portions work, but I’m left hungry and less food= less nutrition. I use nutritional supplements now and eat healthy, full meals.I got started at ryansnutrition com and have my appetite under control.

    the idea that this man lost 3lbs in one day as he said is ridiculous, even in ketosis you aren't burning up 9,000+ kcal of fat.

    trust me. i've fasted 30 days & i still didn't lose more than 30 lbs & fasting doesn't slow down your metabolism when you stick to it consecutively (longer than 3 days to allow your body to produce enough ketones). if humans lost weight this quickly we'd have became extinct a long time ago.

  • two weeks would be OK but for someone with an eating disorder to do it? seriously? the "control" of this diet would control the person. you can induce anorexia nervosa by eating less, there's been studies with men restricting to 1000 kcal a day gradually become more self conscious about their weight and actually think they are too big after losing weight despite being "better" before. fasting/eating little can be addicting, there are plenty of anoretics that eat about 400 kcal or 560 like him.

  • The five bite diet is just to show people portion control. it is not meant to be followed as a life style choice. Although, im pretty sure there are people that will try to use it as such.

    he also tells you to take a multi-vitamin.

    after a while youll start realizing that less food = less weight. and seeing that will reinforce the behavior. therefore lowering your food intake, and calorie count, in the process.

If you or anyone else isn't willing to sacrifice grease and chocolate and a half hour a day off of the television to get out and burn a few hundred calories, then you don't deserve to be thin and healthy. I wonder how that would feel on the root of your mouth? x) its not healthy but it's a good idea for people who are already not dieting healthy and go through cycles of starving (too restrictive, have to actively limit foods or calories) and binging ... repeat repeat, and they only gain weight and stay unhealthy ... :|

  • This diet is manageable if you eat 10 bites per meal, 3 times a day. (5 bites for only 2 times a day is impossible to keep up after weight loss) No seconds. Eat as many veggies as you want. Use nuts, raisins and almonds as snacks. You must exercise.

    I prefer the diet that is cut whatever you usually eat in 1/2's or 3/4's. And exercise.

  • This is bad. The 5-Bite Diet is basically starvation. You're not getting the vitamins, protein, and carbs for energy that is needed throughout the day.

  • The purpose is to lose dramatic amounts of weight in the BEGINNING because when people see results right away they are motivated to keep going. It doesn't have to be 5 bites a day, he says it can be 12 or however many. The point is to get into the habit of portion control, if you can CONTROL how much you eat each day for 2 straight weeks then when you go back to eating normally it will be easier to control your intake. It's just a way to jump start your weight loss plan.

  • actually if you look at the nutritional value of cows milk vs human milk, the difference is very small, infact in most cows milk provides a greater amount of the vitamins and minerals. i thought the same thing, but when i looked it up the difference was minimal.

  • This "doctor" actually sees patients? I feel very sorry for them. I lost 40 lbs not on this diet, but by eating 800-1000 calories a day. And within 1 year I gained it all back. 999,999 out of 1,000,000 doctors, nutritionists, etc. would NOT recommend this diet! DO NOT BE FOOLED!

  • After 3 weeks, I have lost 20 lbs. I have modified it to be 3 meals of 5 bites each. I have not been uncomfortably hungry at all. I occasionally get hungry about 30 minutes before a meal, but I think you are SUPPOSED to get hungry before eating. Once I get to goal, I don't think it will be hard to increase my bites to find the right amount for maintenance. I am getting good at eyeballing the right amount of food. I personally eat way more beans and greens than Snickers bars and it works.

  • This diet is really hard for the first 5 days. I was hungry and tired and my head ached. Then, I went back to eating a regular sized meal and got sick. I went back to eating (about) 5 bites twice a day. Within 8 days my pants were looser. It works bit it is very difficult. Also, I don't do the diet when I work out. If I am swimming for 2 hours, I eat well that day. I know the diet works, but you have ease into it. Start it on a weekend!

  • 20 lbs in two weeks is complete bullshit. Do you know how much exercise that would require? It takes roughly an hour of intense biking/running to burn 1000 calories. You'd have to do that 70 times in 2 weeks to lose the weight he did! Also, even if you ate NOTHING for those two weeks, you would still have to exercise intensly for an hour, 42 times! Your body would go into starvation mode.

    Proof that this is bullshit, and I hope you all can see it.

  • Comparing this to stomach-stapling surgery is wrong. When the stomach is stapled into a small pouch, it can never get bigger. The patient will always feel full with very little food. Shrinking your stomach by eating next to nothing for two weeks, on the other hand, is not permanent. As soon as you start eating normally again, your stomach will regain its larger size. The only way to successfully lose weight is through proper eating habits and exercise. A crash diet is never going to succeed.

  • You would definitely need a vitamin/mineral pill. You would have to eat about 10 Snickers a day to meet the RDI for most vitamins and minerals.

    You might be able to live on 500cal/day, but would you even have enough energy to perform daily routines?

    I'm not doubting that you would lose weight. Eating nothing also works, but probably would kill you, (have you heard of Breatharians?)

    I doubt it's healthy to do long term. You're better off eating healthy vegan food and watching caloric intake.

  • Its unsustainable. If you stay on it for long, surely you would have nutrient deficiencies.

    Average males need 50g protein a day. 2 Snickers is 10. And you need all 9 essential amino acids. Peanuts don't have that. Every time you use your muscles they are damaged and need repair. If you don't have enough protein your body will cannibalize your muscles and they will deteriorate. Over 10 million people in the world (mostly low income countries) die from protein-energy malnutrition every year.

    Those people are extremely obese and almost anything is healthier for them than what they are currently doing.

  • This diet may cause you to lose dramatic amounts of weight intially, but it is neither sustainable nor healthy. Just consider the effect on skin, breath, blood sugar and your teeth! A better way that is equally effective is to do a juice or water fast. Or just eat fruit for a week.
