Have you considered private english tutoring? With your language skills, you could make a killing, and you can essentially make your own hours. I do pretty well in Tokyo and my Japanese isn't as good as yours.

its more than money that is required for japanese universities, if you're on a proper visa there's no reason why you couldn't pick up an english teaching job that pays you far more than you're qualified for.. and that's in yen, so, no loss to money conversion.

The problem is that you need 6 thousand which is a hefty large after x number of years. Which would be you in a debt for a couple of years that being said wouldnt it be better if you return to the U.S which has the equal or better education system but more of a reasonable price? which you can then study abroad for a while then possibly fully return when everything is finished?
The hell are you talking about? Colleges in America are on average WAY more expensive than colleges in Japan. (My college was $43.000 a year, which I could do only by scholarships)

I went to film school. I have a near six-figure student loan debt. As much as I hate e-begging and would never do it myself, I know the burden of student loans and you do get kind of desperate when it comes to getting out of them. It sucks. They change your life.
If you're using the money for school I don't care what you do just as long as it's legal. Student loans suck.

No can do. I had to make my own living to get into college for courses in broadcasting. Doing it the hard way is much more rewarding in the end. Also, think of where all the actors would be if there were no cameras, no audio equipment, no lights, no video editors, etc.

I don't want to sound mean Emily....but why not get a real job? =( For almost ANYTHING in life sacrifices have to be made. Maybe you should take one year off away from school and focus on making money. by the end of the year you could have enough to get into a university & maybe even station yourself with a dependable income ya know? Yeah,1-year backtrack of school is a BIG sacrifice but in the end you'll feel THAT MUCH BETTER since YOU where the one who made it come true on your own. *HUG* <3

Why dont you just straight up say "hey the yen is expensive and modeling doesnt pay well and i want to stay here."
its more than money that is required for japanese universities, if you're on a proper visa there's no reason why you couldn't pick up an english teaching job that pays you far more than you're qualified for.. and that's in yen, so, no loss to money conversion.
What do you have to offer those who donate to you in return? More of you? Sometimes that just isn't enough.

I go to university in Tokyo and am lucky enough that I have a full ride wrestling scholarship that covers everything. I'm not sure you made the right move making this video... But now that it's made I hope it works out for you and that the negative comments don't effect you too much.

I don't get what's so wrong about this. It's not like she's making you people donate. I mean in this kind of day and age, getting money, even if it's a small amount, is really helpful. It can go a long way for some people. Take whatever you can, but give when you're able to.

The problem is that you need 6 thousand which is a hefty large after x number of years. Which would be you in a debt for a couple of years that being said wouldnt it be better if you return to the U.S which has the equal or better education system but more of a reasonable price? which you can then study abroad for a while then possibly fully return when everything is finished?

The hell are you talking about? Colleges in America are on average WAY more expensive than colleges in Japan. (My college was $43.000 a year, which I could do only by scholarships)
Not to mention, you don't know anything about the educational system in America versus the one in Japan. "Equal or better?" Yeah right, don't kid yourself. There are tons of crappy colleges in America, and tons of crappy ones in Japan. Both have a bunch of good ones too. It's not a matter of 'equal or better.'

Which university do you want to go to? I'm an art major going to a non art school in japan (just for a year to study Japanese) but I really want to come back for graduate school for film, photo etc.
but, I wonder if there's any scholarships that could help, JASSO ect. They pretty much saved my life this year.

And if its really that tough to pay for school in Japan, come back to America and get your degree, then go back to Japan. There's this thing called reality that everyone has to face, including you, and things don't always work out the way you plan.

I have an idea what you're going through and it's awesome that you're aspiring to get into the film industry--it's my life and it's been a long struggle. Don't feel bad about asking for help. Storyboards, script samples, clips, treatments, anything.
Maybe someone will want you to succeed based on what society might gain from your future work.

As a foreign student in the US - it's HARD to get loans, not being a citizen. I imagine it's the same in 日本。If I had half the personality Emily does, I'd probably do this too!! At least she has the balls to do what half of us only dream of!

I went to film school. I have a near six-figure student loan debt. As much as I hate e-begging and would never do it myself, I know the burden of student loans and you do get kind of desperate when it comes to getting out of them. It sucks. They change your life.
If you're using the money for school I don't care what you do just as long as it's legal. Student loans suck.

No can do. I had to make my own living to get into college for courses in broadcasting. Doing it the hard way is much more rewarding in the end. Also, think of where all the actors would be if there were no cameras, no audio equipment, no lights, no video editors, etc.

makes us another video and tell us what YOU are doing to try and earn part of your tuition. What do you do for work? How many hours per week? If you are making part of the effort, others will be willing to 'help'. But if you're looking for a free ride... it may be a lot harder.

Its doesn't only take money to get into a university, let alone a Japanese one. You need to KNOW language, otherwise you'll have a blank stare during class... I really don't think they will look at your "modeling" and be awed.....I don't know how much they expect for western foreigners....
I dunno, but it seems your just deciding to go to a Japanese university without have a clue what your getting yourself into at all...

All I can say is; I understand why you're trying this, but asking for money in the middle of a global economic recession, and to an audience that is mostly made up of teenagers like you (and me) who're all short on cash and scrimping for some sort of project, university or otherwise, may not be seen by some as wise or sensitive. I don't think you're a 'beggar', and I really hope you do get to Film School, but I'm working 2 jobs to pay 2 go to uni; maybe you should do the same. Good Luck.
