i don't care what people say, all of the 490's were amazing bikes. i prefer the early 80's 490's but that's just because i like vintage.

i would agree on that. the older 490s are just.... yuck... sure they have power... but its like riding a completely different style of bike going from the early 80's to the late 80's models.

i have a 2001 yamaha warrior 350, someone offered me a 1986 yz490 in exellent condition. is it worth it?

The 350 is probley worth more money!But if having a real kick ass bike is worth more to YOU then having a soso Quad then I would say yes to the YZ .The 86 model is one of the better 490's .

im gonna dissagree in the HIGHEST level on that one. the two best years for the 490 is the 87 and the 89.

Dont dissagree HIGHLY He was offered a 1986 which is better then the older ones Im sure the 87 and and 89 are better then the 82-86 would you agree

Yes But the RM is quicker in almost all oither settings other then a strait up drag race.Heck in a drag race my 490 would beat my friends 08 WR450 until he shifted into 5th
