hey i have been using my Ux2 on a windows desktop, but i want to buy a mac book pro soon and get pro tools for it. Will my Ux2 still work for that? or do i need some other device for it?
hey does it come with a driver for pod farm or does pod farm come up once you plug it in via usb? im just worried cause i got one of the ux1s off ebay and idk if its going to have all the drivers and such
now what I'm curious is, how stable is the unit as simply a line in, because quite honestly I'm not interested in the vst software or pod farm shit it has to offer :P I just need a Hi-Z input that allows me to monitor with headphones. Your take on it?
So its a usb audio interface. How to use it properly if i wanted to do a recording with a guitar? Do i plug it in into a laptop line in or plug it to the usb??
@JohnTeoCH Yes and then after you install the software which is awesome you can get a enormous amount of amps and effects to play around and then with a recording software you can start creating.
I'm thinking about buying an E-Drumkit and connect it with my computer and use VST to put in custom sound (...and record :o)). I've got a Soundcard with MIDI input and output (to be exact X-Fi Platinum with that Frontpanel-thing), would there be any "serious" difference between using my Soundcard's stuff and this nice and handy tool? like "input-lag"/latency ?
@applemaster405 lol im 17 and ive been playing for 14 yrs bud i remember my dad handing me my guitar and me wanting to play it so desperately but i could not fully reach around the neck for my hands were too small
@jaimiecurrie Lol come on cut him some slack. Unlike most people his age (by the sounds of it) he's actually posted something decent and worth watching.
the black one is the line 6 studio ux2 and this one is the line 6 toneport ux2, a friend told me the only difference is the color, but it's possible that the black one has some new features ;)
hey any one can help me on this problem. i have lay down 5 track i record on the first track is cool after that i try to record on track 5 than it will go to track 2 if i try to record on track 2 it will go to trck 5. why won't it let me record on the track i want? do i have to set a setting? thanks
sure if someone didnt know what size that would be good to know i guess, didnt mean to seem rude. guess everything is useful to someone. thanks for posting the video anyway.
oh really you don't think hes a rich kid look he has a mac that's probably over a thousand dollars and that tone port is 200 since he looks like he younger than 14 he cant get a job also and rich kid only get stuff handed to them i dought he will work hard for anything so its not a stupid statement
And maybe it's his parents computar and saves his alowance to buy the toneport .I don't have a job but still have some guitars a pc and soon a toneport .
toneports r only good until if u record drums with a vst plugin, the ux8 is really good, but the ones below it have like no inputs and it doesn't even have midi in/out
Haha, dude, you're an idiot, I have so many subscribers because of my videos on how to jailbreak iPod touches and iPhones, which I have both off. Look how many views this video has, I'd say it was a good choice to film myself opening it.
Hey, im thinking of buying one of those to record my vocals, i already have a peavey pv6 mixer and a shure sm58 mic, will i need the mixer or just this to record my vocals? thanks
When you plug it in through USB, does the sound go through your computer speakers? If not, does it come with a cord to hook it up to your computer speakers, stereo, or amp ?
i just bought one of these and when i hook it up and i hooked up to garageband and everything but when i play its always crackiling and shit making noises and its not the chord ive tried like 6 differen't chords anyone no?
so can you get nice death metal tones from these things without buying the metal shop add on? it doesnt have to be perfect, i just have to make an extra 50 bucks to buy the metal shop
i get the hang of this interface..it have really a good balance for some acoustic demo.. i've make one and it impress mojority of the listerners..i may recommend u this ux2
nice vid. it does look pretty much more useful than the ux1!
(by the way, this also works with PCs, not just with Macs. remember 92% of the population uses Windows PCs, so it would be a good idea to mention it in the video ;)
dude i own a windows and the only thing they beat mac in is pricing. if macs sucked so much why would basically all pro video and audio editors use them. windows is great for every day things but when you editing real video or audio it does a such bad job managing resources you just slow right down. the only macs that truly suck are the mini(or just the ones iv used) the air and the emac(you know the shitty all in one schools buy)
you can record anything through it. its built specifically for vocals, guitar or bass but in 'gearbox' you can set it up for a clean sound so you can record pretty much anything through it. ive got one and have recorded drums off it as well as keys and others
hey wt's up, is UX-2 compatible with intel based Mac's ? ? I want one of these for mobile recording, I use Presonus gear with LogicStudio8 and it's just great, but I think this could be great for my macbook Intel core 2 duo ............ cheers and thanx :D
Hey Gilbertson, You hit the nail on the head my friend,Guitar center only cater to peopl;e who fit into there fake, wanna be rock star image.I go in there all the time to get strings because its convenient and they talk down to you because im not rock enough. I also know most of the staff at my GI center know shit about anything and just want to hang out and look cool, i now buy mostly from sweetwater and zzounds, these guys know their s*#t.
so they decided to sell him faulty shit that they decided to ring up for themselves, spend the week playing with, then returning it the next day they came into work. The people working at Guitar Center are a disgrace to all musicians, because apparently to them, you have to have sweet tattoos and awesome rock star clothes to be a musician. So that's my rant, and once again, thank you for this video.
Dude, this video helped me out a lot! So I received this for my 21st birthday and after hours in front of the computer having issues with drivers and installation; etc, I found this video and realized that the cardboard boxing and plastic wrap wasn't included with mine, then came the conclusion that Guitar Center took advantage of my step-dad, knowing full and well that his clean-cut image suggested he had no idea what he was purchasing,
Try 'Reaper' instead of Audacity, its free, easy to use, much nicer and more flexible.
The heavier/distorted guitar tones on Toneports sound super shitty and fake, total highschool bedroom shredder tones. but the clean tones are passable enough. The best thing about these are the mic preamp models imho. Really handy for doing acoustic/vocal demo's or getting anything analog onto your tracks but the amp sim stuff is fake as hell.
i also have a line 6 toneport ux2. i just use audacity for recording. and yes, the sound is amazing. one thing i do not like about it though is i get these weird gltichy beeping sounds when trying to record over a track. very annoying
it is definetelly the toneport. because one time i connected the tone port to my amp and played while mp3 plays on computer... and it still did the same shit
I think it's better if you plug an MP3 player into the line in on the UX2 (it's got one right? :P)... i can't really help you on this, since I haven't gotten the TonePort yet, and won't be 'till I go to the US (I live in Norway) in a little less than a month ;)
i agree with the strong recommendation of toneports. i use a toneport KB37.
however, i do have one problem with the toneports. you have to register them to a specific computer and if you want to use it on another computer you have to re-register it with that computer. its just quite irritating.

I think it's better if you plug an MP3 player into the line in on the UX2 (it's got one right? :P)... i can't really help you on this, since I haven't gotten the TonePort yet, and won't be 'till I go to the US (I live in Norway) in a little less than a month ;)

i agree with the strong recommendation of toneports. i use a toneport KB37.
however, i do have one problem with the toneports. you have to register them to a specific computer and if you want to use it on another computer you have to re-register it with that computer. its just quite irritating.
what software do you use to record?
