i think piano version is much better, as the piece was originally written for piano and on piano it sounds more... well, not so flat as the orchestral version I think. It's sweeter on piano. however, it's my opinion
I like the orchestration a lot but I'm not sure I like this conductor's interpretation of it. It's a little to pulsing; I would prefer it to be more fluid and flowing. Very nice though.
wow this orchestral version of passepied is so beatuiful just as beautiful as the piano solo version so quirky lively kinda sad i remember the first time i heard passepied was the old gameboy game called castlevania II belmon's revenge i never that this piece was used in the game and therefore it became one of my all-time favorite classical pieces
It's funny, but I love the orchestral versions of Debussy's works as much as the piano. But the orchestra is merely a supplement to an already epic work. :3
If you didn't know, a game boy game entitled, "Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge" used this music. The game simply looped the first 28 seconds of this song.
Wow!! You are definitely right, tmmvds; this version brings much more life and character to the piece! Any chance you know where I could get a score? This is amazing!
@omgzorzlikewow Hi, I tried to track down the score as well. I know most likely it is in the library of San Francisco Opera where this version of performance was premiered.

Thank you for posting this. This is gorgeous! I would love to get my hands on every orchestral arrangement of Debussy's piano pieces. I think every last one of them is just dying to be an orchestral work!
I agree! Orchestra adds much more color and "character" to the piece. I have also put orchestral versions here from L'Isle Joyeuse and La Soiree dans Grenade, if you haven't notice already.

@Melambdalguq mmm.. don't make conclusions on your own please.
Do you know what the reason is people ask for scores? Most of the time you can guess right, but only most of the time. Get what I mean?
I get you're annoyed, but is this really something important enough for you to get emotional about?
cheers

I love it almost as much I love the piano version. But i think that orcehstral version won't ever match the original piano version.
