actually it is believed that bagpipes have been used by throughout the world. the bagpipes where the instrument of the roman infantry while the cavalry used trumpets. the Egyptians also used bagpipes. though the bagpipes we now know where indeed invented in Scotland. the earliest in the British Isles had only one drone. in the 1500s the second was added and the third around 1700. they where the instruments of the commoner so where not featured in stories or art of nobles until the middle ages
