  • Good job dude, don't listen to these assholes.

  • LZ used and echo on the drums on the original recording.

  • @55chh they put the mic at the top of a stairwell, which basically recorded an echo.

  • superb!

  • very good and well .

    p.s i`m DENISE SWEET COOTRELL

    WILL KNOW BY :HOTSWEETDENISE !!!!!

  • Shame ! ! !Grow up and show some respect!PRACTICE AND DONT WAISTE OUR TIME!

  • why ???are you doing this ??

  • at any point are you doing 4 kicks between the snare drum?

  • Great!

  • passion :/

  • question, in the 3rd measure it sounds like you're doing 4 kicks - 2 sets of 2. I learned this beat from my instructor and he showed me doing 3 kicks - 1-anticipated kick (1 16th note) just before the 3 and 2 kicks on the "and and the 16th note before the 4.

  • @mythrander71 I'm not hearing a question.

  • nice cover bro

  • LIXO

  • @victorssep bota um teu ae !

  • on your bass drum, u r hitting it twice in the beginning; it should

only be hit once with the pedal( if u hit it twice, the second note should

be a 'ghost note'- more felt then really heard, in contrast to a very hard and loud opening note. Pop in your cd of the tune and check it out- know wum sayin'

    check it out.

  • Great work!!!

  • What you doing with the bass drum? It's well out of time!!!!!

  • Good cover :) this is my alltime favorite Led Zeppelin, and the timing isnt perfect, but who cares.. i like it

    cheers

  • where did you find the song without the drums part?

  • @jmewhit its with the drum part

  • enjoyed the video, hope to learn the drums and be able to play some zep eventually, didnt seem that complex really, not to say that it is simple , you just made it look that way I guess, just gettin 2 hands to do 2 different things at the same time I'd imagine is alot of the trick to drumming ? well anyways , enjoyd the vid , saved to favs, for future reference ,

  • the kick is wrong

  • LMFAO < yOu would puusy out and not do the fills , and i take my good job back after seeing that

  • Good job , But you added an extra bad note in the main beat witch makes soun less authentic and the ghost notes are missing

  • #majorplacemoncle

  • i think ur adding an extra hit on the bass

  • Very nice job. F the haters and keep it up...epic work!!!

  • Bonzo went through 7A sticks at breakfast, dude.

  • hit the drums harder pussy!

  • @ruffles272 lol

  • @ruffles272 : Didn't Bonzo use telephone poles for drum sticks?

  • Good, but i think the bassdrum pattern is incorrect.

  • @m1bug Your a fucking idiot

  • @lp4711 U r the idiot , not me..

  • @m1bug You're right

  • To play this, you need the feeling.

boring and where are the right ghost notes ?

  • @VillageBomb well by playing this hes gonna develop his feel, you have to start somewhere

  • nc work man

  • wrong!

  • take this down from tube you idiot your shamming the name of Bonzo

  • @hemet92544 CORRECT

  • you're doin' it wrong!

  • Man why played so lame, this is rock&roll not mellow sound LOL!!

  • Weak sound, bro. You do it correctly, tough.

  • @Remasterdon He actually messed up the main beat lol

  • That snare drum is anorexic. Pretty weak sounding for Bonhams fattest groove.

  • dude sit down and listen much much much longer than you did before. you got the bass drum wrong. It the essence of his drumming!

  • good lord this is the third vids of a drummer playing this beat i'v watched and they all got it wrong!!! and I'm a bass player for god sake!!!!!!

  • umm, anbody who thinks this is completely accurate is not listening to the song very closely. Bonham uses ghost notes on some bass beats, but it varies slightly through the tune. Also it helps to know that the recording was made in a stairwell with a close mic and a distant ( one floor up ) mic, this natural echo gives the impression of an extra bass drum beat at points, but it's not there, Swishbelly has put in a full volume extra beat that just isn't in the song. Listen for yourself.

  • dude you suck hardly but you think your good

  • @CreadorMex, I personally feel that Elvis is overrated, but nevertheless, should be recognised as a Rock & Roll icon, although to be fair there were other artists around that time doing the same thing but got half the credit. Elvis just had the right look and the right sound to make him a hell of a lot more popular.

  • its a good cover ...but the problem is... and that's the problem with my drums too... this song only sounds as epic as its suppost to be with one tuning

  • Makes Me laugh when you gets guys coming on dissing your efforts..bet most of 'em can't whistle let alone keep rythmn...keep going fella you're doing a fine job as well as keep the spirit of Bonzo Alive!

  • The sort of shuffle feel that Bonham created for this song just amazes me. And the rolls are blinding fast. An excellent and a challenging song to cover. Good job.

  • To everyone calling the player on having too many kicks, clearly he's trying to recreate the echo you hear in the album version. Unfortunately not everyone can record a youtube cover at the bottom of a stairwell with the mic somewhere high above you and crazy reverb while maintaining a studio quality sound or anything resembling it.

  • @GrapeDrink4Life finnaly someone who understands that that second bass note is an echo.

  • @GrapeDrink4Life It kills the beat

  • I am not a drum expert or whatever, but I think you might be actually be playing to many notes on the kick drum

  • Too many notes on the kick and timing is not real good. Nice try though.

  • @jmb92555 no he is creating the echo effect from the song.

  • @drumsordie I understand that. Most people w/o the sound system and tech did just that. But he is still playing notes that aren't in the song through echo or attack. You see what I'm saying? Bonham never played the last two 16th notes on the bass drum in this song nor did the echo make it seem that he did. The guy is playing notes that were never played OR echoed in the song. It isn't my intent to put the guy down.

  • @jmb92555 what the hell are you talkin about he didn't play one note too much... i checked those "last two 16th" notes are there and they are very obvious... I don't know if you're a drummer or not.... but I can hear them... and my hearing is still pretty good

  • @c0d3x001 For the bass drum? Bonham's bass drum would often sound like it has extra beats to it for certain songs and measures, look it up if you don't believe me.

  • have shame

  • hey its still a badass song...its no fool in the rain but hey its still led zeppelin...

  • PS PEOPLE I MADE A DRUM VIDEO COMPILATION I TOTALLY NEED COMMENTS ON IT, check my profile the first vid is Greatest 60 Drum Songs of Rock n Roll 60-44

  • dude you are playing wayyyyy too lightly for a bonzo drum cover.

  • bad sound...

  • it's great but it sound's a little dry on the snare and bass

  • sounds good!

  • i was watching It Might Get Loud and Jimmy Page explained that the reason the recording sounds like it does, is because they recorded it in a room that went up like 3 stories. The "lift shaft" or whatever he called it gave the drums a really full sound.

  • it was a cathedral or something...some kind of giant hall with a hiiiiiiiiiigh ceiling.

    epic.

I agree this kit is mixed a little strangely, but he basically has it...now just find that cathedral muahaha

  • @thegreatNEb Nah it was just an only house they were standing in. Well, that's what it looked like.

  • Yeah they recorded it in a stairwell 'cause Bonzo had just ordered a new kit and set it up there. (Page was talking about other bands trying to find lift shafts - elevator shafts - to recreate the sound)

  • crying wont help you, praying wont do you no good

  • Hdllo, i have been playing drums for 6 years now. I do love led zeppelin as well as other bands. This song is easy to play, because the whole song is mainly one beat. But you played it good. Just keep practicing and all and you will get that down and some other led zeppelin songs.

  • It might be easy to play the drum pattern, but you will never ever make it sounds like Bonzo ever.

  • @tobarrr

We all can be as great as we choose.

choose to work hard... choose to not let other peoples moronic words get in the way... choose to believe in ourselves... nobody else makes the decision, bucko.

  • @Guz4o I am not saying his cover is bad I am saying that the beat isn't the most beat happy song ever! and I am sorry you feel that way.... maybe you should think things out and RE-READ the reply before posting a reply..... and thats all i have to say bout that! :) there qwas a comment that had been removed that i commented on.... thats why i said the beat is stiff.... but nice job on the cover!

  • this is the most boring cover i've ever watched.

no flow in your movement at all, beat is stiff

  • not to be mean but this is really bad.

  • yes don t listen to the haters, I'm a drumer too, and huge fan of Led Zepelin, your timing is ok even though not perect yet, but you got the essential, I mean the groove of this song! And the mini bridge trick you got it too, with the mini ghost note-call on the snare drum. That's the thing! Keep on the good work! ;)

  • nice job..

  • the kick is wrong!!! been watch petecatz too much..and the noise gate kills the feel

  • man, everyone check out a song called "simple boy" by the band karnivool.

At the bridge, the drums play this exact beat, with the same processing and everything!! such a rip-off.

  • timing is horrible and you should let your drums make the sound...not the mics...

  • SIMPLIFY

hes not playing all of those eighths on bass. its echo.

  • my 12 year old cuzin, plays this song better than you, made in china cd

  • There really is no playing better than this. This is how it is played, aside from this guy's slightly different take on the kick pedal.

  • dont mind all those idiots, that was awesome!!

  • WOWOWOWOW..

I just watched the video after I posted that.

YOUR DEF. A HOLLISTER ABERCROMBIE FAGGOT

I bet you any money your up to your teeth in suicide silence memoriblia.

Sympathy for the devil was banned for 4 years becuase it was against christianity too much and was controversial.

Now t.v. talk show hosts get more graphic.

    The rebellion now is intelligence.

Now listnent to lil wayne and fuckin faggot ass metal( i only know one band, S.S.)

    Please this generation...DIE

  • i wear holister and ambercromie ...i dont listen to rap only rock and i play drums and something tells me you know shit all about people ...i hope u play drums just so right now i can tell u im better and i wear those cloths

  • Was there even a point in that? And asking this generation to die..aren't you 19? Nice lol.

  • hey everyone give the kid a break he did a good job, on led zeppelin IV bonzo recorded his drums in a 3 story stair well, with him at the bottom and the recorder at the top, also jimmy used is techique of makeing the echos come before the actuall sound

  • ya and in the song the bass echos from the stairwell

  • Are you really sure about what Bonzo's playing? Maybe your LedIV version is Made in China...

  • I think .. this song hasn't the second(double) hit on the bass drum at the end of the time...

  • nice attempt but in the section you started to play but then ended the video there is so m uch more kick than you have displayed

  • well hopefully in the two years since you uploaded this you've learned how to use a kick pedal.

  • I spat all over the screen laughing when I read that...:L

I hear that. Hopefully he's listened to the song as well...It pains me to see people cover Zeppelin when they can't or even worse, don't know the fuckin song...

  • awesome! You rock man!

  • wow thats freakin amazing :/

  • Nice job. Lay back a little more. Give it more space and play a little behind the beat. It's a big, big pocket. Remember, Bonham was a jazz drummer.

  • Nah, he wasn't.

  • he didn't play heavily jazz orientated drums in led Zeppelin songs, however his style and the way he laid his kit out was very jazz styled.

  • nicely done

  • robert plant awsome voice

  • Nice one dude this is an awesome cover :D.

Also, how the hell can u say that Elvis sucks, he is one of the pioneers of Rock & Roll music.

  • elvis is the best

  • pioneers...........blah...................most of elvis's songs were written by a black man.........i think his name was otis blackwell. elvis is crap

  • Yep.

  • yet if they were not interpreted and performed, the songs would be aging idly on paper, alone in a dusty attic box.

and writing does not make a voice made of velvet.

  • @Crowster666 That doesn't man he need to be good for him opinion

  • @Crowster666 Not that I am hating Elvis or nothing he was great but if you do some research on Sun Records you will see the true pioneers of Rock and Elvis' roll in the birth of rock. Its like saying Henry Ford invented the automobile. All Henry Ford did was make it more accessible to the general public.

  • Well done mate bloody great job, keep it up and never mind the wankers.

  • mann you snare sounds really nice

  • nice job man

  • the drums sound awful did you know john bonham said in a interview he dosnt believe damning the sound of a drum cause it dosnt get the true sound of a drum

his way of tuning a drum was different from everyone back then and it was awesome

  • well everyone has there own taste so thats nice

  • yo man theres only 3 bass drum hits in this beat, you've added way to much.

  • There are 4

  • they placed the recording equipment at the top of stairs, and played the drums at the bottom of the stairs to let it echo upwards.

Those arent bass hits man, there echoes...

    read a book >.>

  • Waht does reading a book have to do with it lol? And i understand that it was very much based around the echo sound however there ARE 3/4 separate bass drum notes in this groove

  • whenever bonham talks about this grove he talks about the echo effect making it sound like theres more to it (hammer of the gods, stairway to heaven, etc...)

    3 bass hits.

  • Actually it was an elevator. Get your facts straight jack :)

  • no sorry your wrong, it was recorded it was recorded in a ranch called the old hyde with the drums at the bottom of the stairs and recording equipment at the top of the stairs like the other guy said

  • big deal u guys!!! 3 beats or 4 doesnt have to be perfect -_- only the Led can play it perfect!!

  • its the best sounding led song

  • Great Job, excellent drum cover, but you should have finished the song.

  • wtf that sounds nothing like it

  • Cool. In order to get the same effect as on the recording, you would need to do the stairwell thing, but it's a cool cover anyway.

  • dude you suck its not even the whole song

  • tsk tsk boom tsk tsk boom tsk tsk boom tsk tsk boom tsk tsk boom tsk tsk boom tsk tsk boom tsk tsk boom tsk tsk boom tsk tsk boom tsk tsk boom tsk tsk boom tsk tsk boom

  • Nice job buddy!!!!!!!!! what happened to the rest?

  • luv it

  • great cover

  • not bad, for a cover. It has already been mentioned, but you have too much kick pedal. there is a bass note that, when played closely, I am not going to say correctly, cause I haven't got it yet, does not feel right.

  • THE TUNE OF THE DRUM HAS NO POWER...

  • dude every thing is sweet but the petal is wrong

  • Dude, if you're gonna post drum videos, PLEASE do a little research and actually LEARN the beat

before you do. This will save serious viewers

    A LOT of much-needed time.

  • Dude, if you're gonna post a comment, PLEASE do a little self-research and actually THINK before you do. This will save serious readers A LOT of much-needed time.

    - Please, don't blame others for you wasting your time (which, by reading this your comment, doesn't look that much-needed anyway).

  • Dude, if you're gonna post a comment, PLEASE do a little selft-research and actually THINK about what you are saying before you do. This will save serious readers A LOT of much-needed time.

    - Don;t blame others for you wating your time (which, by reading your comment, doesn't seems much-needed anyway).

  • You are putting in extra bass drum notes and leaving others out. And don't play it so straight, it has to 'lilt'...check out Chad Smith's 'drum solo' from the 2005 Modern Drummer Festival. It may be on here...he pretty much plays this beat for 4 or 5 minutes. Ya gotta really stick it in that groove and keep it from getting STIFF!

  • great sound man. Would be better if you crashed ur ride cymbal more often instead of the 16s, like bonzo. great playing.

  • Themesko3, actually, the drums were upstairs in the studio and the mic was downstairs, thats how they got that effect

  • the drums were downstairs at the bottom of the stair well and the mics hung over the railing at the top....who knows ?someone will.

    leave the answer >>>>>>....../......../...../.....

  • someones got a very very rich daddy to get all those nice presents but suck

  • Yea i know.

  • why does no one on youtube add the ghost notes!!!

  • Because they don't *listen*

  • Listen to the song again and play it right !

  • Doesn't sound right, might be the micing...might just be you!

  • Oustanding man... Let the others that haven't posted there version talk all the *cough* they want. Nice

  • You play it so wrong john bohnam plays a steady grove and what they do is they put a mic in front of the kit and one above it at the bottom of a stairwell then go up three flights and put another mic and you here a little reverb but he doesnt play what you did besides your snare doesnt sound good

  • well

not to be Mr.obvious or anything but he isn't john bonham, who of course is way better

  • dude you dont need to be bonham to hear that theres ghost notes in the track i just thought it might make the cover a bit more groovy :s

  • why dose everyone include that extra bass hit after the first two!?!

    BOOM (Buh)= Bass hit

    TAP= Snare hit.

BOOM BOOM, Tap, BUH-BOOM BOOM BOOM Tap.

That little "Buh" i'm talking about isnt there.

I know i sound retarded trying to type out sounds but im just making sure u know what i'm talking about.

  • also theres no flam for the part in 1:18

its snare, bass and crash, bass.....repeat

  • man u are right.there is no (buh)

  • dude, if i was technologically advanced i would post videos of myself drumming.....ive been drumming for 17 years and bonzo is a huge influence of mine....coming form a guy who basically knows how to play every zepp song from beginning to end i must say your rhythm is off slightly and your bass drum slaps are off as well......your doing probably one of the best rhythm secs in rock history a great disservice......you play as if you cant wait to play a simple 4-4 hi hat beat

  • your playing it wrong and your snaredrum sounds like shit

  • no it doesnt...i mean it doesnt sound great, but i wouldnt say it sounds like shit. I've heard a lot worse.

  • Those drums sound SWEET!

  • Man, I'm really digging the way he did it. Sounds pretty bad ass if you ask me.

  • who cares if he put in more kick beats, suddenly its shit for habing more kick beats, its not like it ruined the song, people who play note for note are uncreative assholes

  • do it more simply

  • wrong

  • you're trying to simulate the effect that bonham got out of his drums by playing in the hallway of the studio while the rest of the band was actually in the studio. those 16th notes on the bass drum on 1 is actually one quarter note.

  • you know its an ok cover but one tip slow it down and stop hitting the bass drum so much

  • no dude. sorry. you haveto learn POCKET. this song is groove perfection. bonham lays real back behind the beat on this and your playing it more rushed then it should be. i think people need to leave zeppelin alone and cover something else.

  • sorry dude a lil to fast and the bass drum parts all wrong keep trying though

  • EPIC FAIL!!!

  • Sh&% sounds like typing...LOL!!! Seriously dude, you got drum skills just no sound engineering ones. Levee is all about the production. Atz awl dawg!!!

  • BONHAM FREAKIN ROCKS

  • You are 1000 miles from gettin the groove right m8, first of all if you like Led Zep that much try use the same setup as Bonham used he didn´t do it for no reason.
