I like the idea of John doing this song, but what possessed him to do to the song I dislike. I mean even if I never heard the Yoakam version and I only heard this one, I'm sure I would think to myself, "What is the deal with the phrasing and timing on this song?" He sings and plays great obviously....this just sounds forced.

@Susi7733 Exactly! The whole thing was great. I've noticed a lot of people (and a lot of Dwight's fans) dismissing of it, but regardless of what they think of the performance (which I enjoyed), he still showed up to support a Nashville institution and paid tribute to another great artist.

I prefer Dwight's way of singing it. Dwight may of said John did him proud, but we all know how polite Dwight is. Wouldn't say a bad word about anyone. So I won't either.
