Super Mario Galaxy - Purple Coins on the Summit

I've done this as both Mario and Luigi -- it's more difficult as Luigi IMO -- but this man is unbelievable. Nine minutes and no loss of life. Some of those jumps were ridiculous.

I think the long jump was only mentioned in the manual and a single sign in the game, both optional to read, whereas everything else was brought up in required areas or were required to move onwards. The long jump isn't really needed until very late into the game like this.

It's also likely it's because Super Mario Sunshine didn't have the long jump and the people asking didn't play Nintendo during Super Mario 64, released 12 years before Galaxy.

I missed the 3 coins near the sleepy toad and the other wise one... 1st try I died with 93 coins when I fell down from the peak because of nunchuk lag, if that would happen again I'm sure I would forget about that game not for short.

But I also hate purple coins generally, Nintendo's ideas were dying probably. Anyway, I just want to finish this game with all 120 stars, I got 113 already... Sad to know that only Purple Comets remained.

Ye, when that happens you have to re-plug the nunchuk, because mario's not accepting your commands and running somewhere even if you don't press any buttons.

What jump do you use to get the purple coin on the pedistol where you have to do like the back flip thingy and then spin because i am never high enough to get it and its very frusteratin!

Not sure which one you mean, but you can make Mario back flip by jumping while crouching.

I just spent a bloody hour doing this. It turns out your back flip higher when normal mario than when ice mario. You have to let yourself thaw out on the pillar before you do the backflip.

Fire Mario and Ice Mario don't jump as well as a whole, actually. I like how the game takes advantage of this handicap.

I remember doing this.. I hate the ones where it's pretty much just wanting you to wander around for a long time until you find them all. Especially if I make it to like, 80+ coins and then die somehow..which usually is by me falling off the edge somewhere on accident.

The places where they give you a path of coins to follow and race through, to me, is usually pretty fun though.

The Gold Leaf Galaxy has my favorite Purple Coin mission, since there are bees along the way to tell you how many you should've had by the time you meet them.

The Freezeflame Galaxy has one of the widest areas to search for Purple Coins...though I think Honeyhive is the biggest offender in this regard.

Sea slide is fine. The Purple Coins are put in a linear fashion because the galaxy was built that way. Getting all 100 is easy.

Are there more than 100 coins in the stage? Because at 0:28, it looks like there was a porple coin on a pillar to the right of your current position, yet (unless I'm mistaken) you never get it.
