I think this is definitely The Messengers backing track, but it's a different vocal track than i've been listening to for the last 40 years. I'm thinking an alternate take by The Messengers....Maybe one of the former Messengers will let us know?
Sorry to disappoint you all, but this could actually be the Ohio Express, at least the vocal parts. The backing track is definitely the same as the Messengers, but the vocal track is different... play them back to back and you can easily tell.
