  • Class. No other words needed

  • Saw the group in Peth, Australia 1996. One of the greatest concerts.

  • I used to listen to this song when I was riding my bike back and forth from work. It took me someplace else mentally--It made me forget that I was only making 8 bucks an hour at a crappy 3rd shift walmart job; it made me forget that is was January, and it is too damn cold to be riding a bike. But mostly, it let me dream about going somewhere else, to something better.

  • it is a dam good song

  • Got to love a song that sends chills up your spine...

  • What are we gonna do when Willie, Chris, Merle, George, David Allen, Strait, Gene Watson, and a few others are gone?? Country music will be gone and the idiots in Nashville will never understand what has happened until it's too late. I'm not too sure they will give a damn even then. Shame...

  • killer!!

  • It doesn't get any better than this.......Love these guys

  • AMEN! brothers!

  • okay im not trying to cause any problems or raise any hell here.

i just have a simple question, i love this song. i love these guys.

but i was just curious about playing this on guitar, and as watching.

Are they just holding their guitars, or are any 4 of them actually playing?

cuz it doesnt really look like it to me..

  • @joshcky0113 yea they aint really playin

  • Doesn't get much better than this.

  • @30martyn What year did you see them?

  • @30martyn

You mean the lead guitarist Reggie Young?

  • @Russell7erguson thanx alot! i had such a idea but i didn´t know it....

  • sry for my question but what did they mean exactly with silver stallion? sry for my english and god bless the highwaymen and the one who answered me this dumb question!!!

  • @poini666 It is my opinion that the silver stallion represents freedom, to be able to go where you please, on a horse that you have tamed... With a wild woman you have tamed also:)

  • i hope that waylon and johnny both found that woman with the razor blades and dice her eyes and that they have the stallion that will take them across the skys, and the devil will never catch them, cause he wont like it if he does!! RIP legends!!

  • This is so great. Love Waylon Jenings. Just love his voice. This is so great. Jeeses great.

  • they are really freaking good live

  • when all this guys play and sing togheter... is amazing tank you .

  • the way waylon sings "thunder & lightening in her thighs" makes me want this man so bad!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Cat Power does a great version of this. Delicate and extremely stripped down - very different from the original, but very good.

  • a great song written by the great Lee Clayton!! To me he is a true legend!

  • a great song written by the great Lee Clayton!!

  • super tolles Video 55

  • Okay... I normally don't care too much for country... but, this is the exception to the rule...

  • @zev1963

Agreed man. Most country I can't stand (I think it's mostly this newer stuff though). But the classics never get old, something special about these guys, they had the magic.

  • ride with the DEVIL close behind?

  • @cheesynounou That's right. "With the devil close behind" :)

  • @KubaaPOLAND ya but the devil is evil

  • @cheesynounou ya the devil is evil, but perhaps you need to listen again, or live a little longer

  • @riverb14 what do you mean?

  • @riverb14 Can you just tell me why they say "with the devil close behind"? considering the fact that the devil is evil, what do they mean?

  • @cheesynounou How do you not get this?

  • @skramtin do you get it? if so explain it then.

  • @cheesynounou haw old ar you.

  • @riverb14 15 why?

  • @riverb14 pedo-bear! haha jk bro

  • @cheesynounou Did not Jesus himself say "Get thee behind me satan!" Could it be that satan is pursuing the main charachter in the story? Just a thought. I happen to love this song by the way. I bought a silver F350 Ford pickup [used] last summer and named it the Silver Stallion!

  • @carlbesola Ahaha!! nice

  • SREBRNI PASTUH

  • I just love Waylon's smile on 1:52-1:55

  • these guys where true country. You couldnt beat them, they could act, sing, song write....they were brilliant in all aspects!!!! True legends at what they did!!!

  • Think how grateful the guys in the band are now to have gotten to be a part of that tour! Never again anything will come along to equal that group and the impact they made on Real Country Music and the Outlaw era.

  • I guess I'm crazy and I don't mean to under rate the lead guitarisr's skills, but with all these accomplished musicians playing rhythm guitar, it kinda seems like overkill. I mean, if you never picked up a guitar and realized how cool a Willie nelson song is, you might think he sucks at playing guitar by watching this. I bet all these guys can shred if you let 'em. Maybe this band was kinda put together to showcase their voices only. To me that is kind of a shame. I want to see Waylon shred!

  • @Mrpracticaltactical Of corse, I forgot to mention how it showcases their awesome songs performed by original artists! And I guess they wouldn't be playing lead guitar on those songs individually. Still, it would be cool to see them try to play lead.

  • Waylon Jennings' voice is so great. Probably not underrated, but Jesus holy christ, a incredible and stunning voice.

  • 439 people on youtube

    6 beiber fans?

  • four star gold

  • love it a lot...;)

  • nice guys singing so good together, sadly two of them are gone now, thanks for this, caro

  • Currently there are 6 retards on youtube :)

  • verdens bedste sang

  • i love em alll however waylon stole the show here and when i saw them in atlantic city in the early 90s

  • I'm so sad that two of these fabulous guys not longer with us. RIP, Waylon and Johnny.

  • This is f...... great. Way much better than Higwayman, in my opinion.

  • @Buyoneshaper nothing wrong with the highwayman tune

  • @c99sativa I was exaggerating a little bit. This is not _much_ better than Highwayman. Love both of them.

  • @Buyoneshaper your right , they both great tunes

  • God Bless them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • there will never be anybody like these guys

  • I used to agonize over Arle or Willie on this. No contest. It's the Highwaymen!

I can't believe how long ago we lost Waylon and Johnny. RIP

  • love this waylon and johnny are so missed

  • @aprilslaton267 i agree we dont have any more like them its so sad, well we do have willie, and kriss but my point is the good man is a dieing breed. rip waylon, johnny

  • they will never be a band like these guys i could listen to them for ever johnny and waylon are missed so there riding in the great clouds with the great one now .....

  • best song ever!

  • i wish i couldcve seen them all alive....dam.....

  • hey great to see old Waylon playing there..........

    Good song........

  • hum... i really really miss these guys....todays country music can not compare.

  • @jlotzadotz i dont even consider it country music its pop country with r&b influences is so sad our culture has to die to make another shine like its the best the only one the holy of hollies

  • There can never be anyone that can sing like Waylon. These guys are what Country music is about. Their memory will live on forever. Young Country can never be this goo, .there is no one left to right songs like they did.

  • The Highwaymen was the country music equivilant to having Sinatra, Presley, Lennon and Morrison all together.

  • These times don't come back - takes me back a long time!

Hope to see (short-haired) Willie in a few days in Berlin...

  • ive already requested to my family that this be the first song played at my funeral, to me it is what i want after death

  • lol im sorry when i first heard this on the highwaymen cd i'm like all waylon, then later i'm like oh its cash and now i see this and its kris lol!

  • @ricflairfan5 and if u keep listening it will be all willie,,, these guys are all great and together it makes the whole thing magic

  • the best ever four country singers

  • i just love this song.... i can listen to this daily

  • Willie I love ya. He always comes in on the half beat or before the beat. whatever, I still love him.

  • the buck in the back strumming is clasic, who is he?

  • @meaghera82 If you're referring to the man playing the guitar solo from 1:06 to 1:20, that is guitarist Reggie Young. He has played with some of the most influential names in modern day music, such as Elvis, Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Waylon, and The Rolling Stones. He was an original member of Bill Black's Combo, which had several instrumental hits in the 50s and 60s. He has recorded many classic guitar solos and riffs, such as the guitar intro for "Son of a Preacher Man" .

  • @JVernon83 I'm surprised they didn't acknowledge Reggie's contribution. He was great throughout this concert. He had played behind all four of these guys before.

  • siletzndn4life you speak with great wisedom, there will never be another music group like the highwaymen again.

  • every song reminds someone of something different.. this song reminds me of living on remote ranches out in arizona...

  • can anyone tell me who is playing the steel for these guys

  • q temaso la puta madre jonhy cahs es un capo

  • Willie's kinda looks like he's got a mullet in this video. I don't think he did though. Johnny Cash on the other hand, he kinda did.

  • love this song, watch it once or twice a week hee

  • damm god musik agamand

  • RIP Johnny and Waylon

I hope Kris and Willie "ride again"

They have to ride again again and again......

    Forever

  • let it ride

  • Damn this song is AWESOME!

  • such a great intro, can i get some tab for it?

  • Beautiful song.. 1 of the best ever written........

  • Love this song

  • my daughter just turned 3 and sings this word for word in the car!

  • @opiateinc that's the way you raise ur kid! no eminem, no rihanna or paris hilton,,pure music gold instead! keep it up!

  • @opiateinc

    That's what I call a good education ;)

  • @opiateinc my daughter was also only 3 when she started singing country songs especially Rhinestone Cowboy (Glen Campbell) & Crazy (Patsy Cline) she knew both of these word for word. Its so great that kids get to know the older countrey stuff - it was so great. P.S is it my imagination or are they using the instrumental piece to this on an advert for Fiat cars !!!! What a cheek I knew it was this when I heard it on there!

  • @opiateinc Aww! That's so cute.

  • Chris and of course Waylon are my true favs. Waylon has a voice that reminds me of an uncle telling lovely stories of the past to kids.

  • @ThaLuCky5 its KRIS, not CHRIS!!!!!!!!!

  • now, this make's a man feel good!

  • When was this? '89/'90?

  • this was in 1992 you can watch the whole concert on here just type in

the highwaymen live at nassau coliseum

there is like 12 parts to it it is such a great concert

  • saturday night, back to view again

  • They are THE legends of country music...But Waylon is THE leading legend hes the man..

  • Re the guitarist, he does what he has to do and nicely too. Telegraph Road with lead guitar by Mark Knopfler is worth comparing his style to, doesnt mean Reggie Young couldnt do it as good as MK.

  • Kris Kristofferson said that Waylon was the best country singer ever, I agree.

  • Oh agreeedd, definatley...the crowd jus goes wild when he comes on..

i love it, theyre all amazing i really dont think i could just choose one thoug :(

  • Kris Was Right Waylon Is And Always Will Be The Best

  • agreed.. Waylon has a voice like ive never heard in country music. It's just too bad that he had to go during his prime.

  • reggie young play that shit

  • this is the real stuff

  • @joshcky0113, his name is Reegie Young. One of the best.

  • thanks man appreciate it, he sure sounds like one of the best, im gna do some looking into that...

    any suggestions??

  • The Saints gathered on the same scene, RIP to the diseased ones.

PS:The guy on electric guitar is great

  • damn, man i wish i could've seen these guys live, truely amazing

who is the guy playing the guitar?

from 2:02-2:15 right before willie comes on?

  • Wow!!! Need to comment on how sweet Willie's voice is.

    Thank you!

  • Love this song!

Always been more of a hip-hop rock man but I listen to The Alex Jones show and I was introduced to their music through him. Willie Nelson has been on his show a few times. Legend!!!

American Remains is my fav. and I am Scottish :-)

  • love it :) listen to higwaymen every saturday nigtht ;) i got the video tape. ;)

  • Amazing!

  • Really amazing song. I'm listening to it for almost 3 days in a loop, hour after hour with no other music and it still does not get boring. These guys are not just show. And that is maybe what makes their music so deep. They are true, both dreaming and living that dream at the same time. You hear that song and you know you'd ride with 'em. And you know, no, you feel, that this would be the right way to go. It doesn't matter where you ride. Just whom you ride with. RIP Johnny & Waylon.

  • Waylon loves this song...can you tell?!

  • saturday night, the highwaymen........again!

  • @Slasheri, vielen Dank. Thank you. Merci.

  • SOOOOOOOOOOOPER SONG THANX!!!

  • 3:07 i love his smile and his voice.

  • love it. never heard it before

  • riding like a one eyed jack of diamonds with the devil close behind.

  • Great group!!! It's a same 2 of them Waylon and Johnny have moved on to play in heaven though:(

  • WISH, kris, willie, woudl get 2-3 NEW guys and the highwayment 'ride again'....

immagine Toby, and Alan on stage with Willie, and Kris?????

I would stand inline for sure for that concert!

  • LOL Love Waylon at 1:43-47

  • Willie Nelson was a bit off beat but he is still my favorite.

  • he always sing like that in live perf...it's his way lol

  • its for making a break, adds to the song

  • Aparently you don't watch or listen to Willie very often! He is ALWAYS about a half a beat ahead or behind the music. That's one of the beefs that Nashville had about his early recordings. That and the fact that he couldn't write and record what he wanted to is what caused him to get the hell out of Nashville. Worked out pretty well I would say....

  • Jep you are right. he is always like talking in the way he wants to and doesn't care about the beat or something like that. but it always sounds very good. thats just willie. thats how we al know him.

  • ???

  • Oh how I wish I could have been in a front row seat at this concert. A great moment in history. One of those rare an precious moments. For fans and the 4 greatest countrty artisrs ever!

  • The Highwaymen - 5 stars from Poland

  • @michu7510 6 stars from Italy :-)

  • Love these guys. Country music has gone to shit lol.

I want songs like these. This is not outrageous or unthinkable. It worked before! Where are the people trying to fill their shoes?????????????? Whose Gonna Fill Their Shoes, damnit. :(

  • Only The Greatest....

    For those that understand..

Gonna Steal Me A Silver Stallion...

One Day We'll Saddle Up And Ride...

Ride Like The One-Eyed jack Of Diamonds..

    With The Devil Close Behind...
