I used to listen to this song when I was riding my bike back and forth from work. It took me someplace else mentally--It made me forget that I was only making 8 bucks an hour at a crappy 3rd shift walmart job; it made me forget that is was January, and it is too damn cold to be riding a bike. But mostly, it let me dream about going somewhere else, to something better.
This song it´s amazing, when i hear it, I can travell in time, I can fell the really american dream, this is great, I love this fuckin song, god them it, god bless this guys, it´s a shame just left two of them!!!!!but we call recall thousands of times this!!
What are we gonna do when Willie, Chris, Merle, George, David Allen, Strait, Gene Watson, and a few others are gone?? Country music will be gone and the idiots in Nashville will never understand what has happened until it's too late. I'm not too sure they will give a damn even then. Shame...
sry for my question but what did they mean exactly with silver stallion? sry for my english and god bless the highwaymen and the one who answered me this dumb question!!!
@poini666 It is my opinion that the silver stallion represents freedom, to be able to go where you please, on a horse that you have tamed... With a wild woman you have tamed also:)
i hope that waylon and johnny both found that woman with the razor blades and dice her eyes and that they have the stallion that will take them across the skys, and the devil will never catch them, cause he wont like it if he does!! RIP legends!!
Agreed man. Most country I can't stand (I think it's mostly this newer stuff though). But the classics never get old, something special about these guys, they had the magic.
@cheesynounou Did not Jesus himself say "Get thee behind me satan!" Could it be that satan is pursuing the main charachter in the story? Just a thought. I happen to love this song by the way. I bought a silver F350 Ford pickup [used] last summer and named it the Silver Stallion!
these guys where true country. You couldnt beat them, they could act, sing, song write....they were brilliant in all aspects!!!! True legends at what they did!!!
Think how grateful the guys in the band are now to have gotten to be a part of that tour! Never again anything will come along to equal that group and the impact they made on Real Country Music and the Outlaw era.
I guess I'm crazy and I don't mean to under rate the lead guitarisr's skills, but with all these accomplished musicians playing rhythm guitar, it kinda seems like overkill. I mean, if you never picked up a guitar and realized how cool a Willie nelson song is, you might think he sucks at playing guitar by watching this. I bet all these guys can shred if you let 'em. Maybe this band was kinda put together to showcase their voices only. To me that is kind of a shame. I want to see Waylon shred!
@Mrpracticaltactical Of corse, I forgot to mention how it showcases their awesome songs performed by original artists! And I guess they wouldn't be playing lead guitar on those songs individually. Still, it would be cool to see them try to play lead.
@aprilslaton267 i agree we dont have any more like them its so sad, well we do have willie, and kriss but my point is the good man is a dieing breed. rip waylon, johnny
they will never be a band like these guys i could listen to them for ever johnny and waylon are missed so there riding in the great clouds with the great one now .....
@jlotzadotz i dont even consider it country music its pop country with r&b influences is so sad our culture has to die to make another shine like its the best the only one the holy of hollies
There can never be anyone that can sing like Waylon. These guys are what Country music is about. Their memory will live on forever. Young Country can never be this goo, .there is no one left to right songs like they did.
@meaghera82 If you're referring to the man playing the guitar solo from 1:06 to 1:20, that is guitarist Reggie Young. He has played with some of the most influential names in modern day music, such as Elvis, Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Waylon, and The Rolling Stones. He was an original member of Bill Black's Combo, which had several instrumental hits in the 50s and 60s. He has recorded many classic guitar solos and riffs, such as the guitar intro for "Son of a Preacher Man" .
@JVernon83 I'm surprised they didn't acknowledge Reggie's contribution. He was great throughout this concert. He had played behind all four of these guys before.
@opiateinc my daughter was also only 3 when she started singing country songs especially Rhinestone Cowboy (Glen Campbell) & Crazy (Patsy Cline) she knew both of these word for word. Its so great that kids get to know the older countrey stuff - it was so great. P.S is it my imagination or are they using the instrumental piece to this on an advert for Fiat cars !!!! What a cheek I knew it was this when I heard it on there!
Re the guitarist, he does what he has to do and nicely too. Telegraph Road with lead guitar by Mark Knopfler is worth comparing his style to, doesnt mean Reggie Young couldnt do it as good as MK.
Always been more of a hip-hop rock man but I listen to The Alex Jones show and I was introduced to their music through him. Willie Nelson has been on his show a few times. Legend!!!

Really amazing song. I'm listening to it for almost 3 days in a loop, hour after hour with no other music and it still does not get boring. These guys are not just show.
