  • Please check out a great Children's book about Autism, PDD and ADHD called 'Why Is He Different?' (Please spread the word about this unique book, tell your friends and tell me what you think about it. Big thanks!!). You can preview it on youtube profile called Monalisaknew. Just copy and paste the following sentence in youtube search window: 'Why Is He Different? (Autism Book)'

You can also buy this book on AthsePublishing(dot)com. Thank You !!

  • Love you Jen. You are the best. You have helped SO many people.

  • i myself have light autism and i finished culinairy school and a medical education

my opinion about these miracle stories are that atisme is not a disease and that with training every disabled kids could benefit but most of these stories are just a safe haven for ignorant americans who are looking for a miracle cure to get a quick fix but these are children not guinea pigs. just give those children the room to breath and regain there own life it worked for me and therefore i thank my family

  • Have you looked into LDN as well. My niece started her 2 year old son on it. Within 10 days he had a 5 year vocabulary they did not know he had, he was interacting & looking at his families faces, & he was playing with his toys rather then lining them up. A month later he no longer had sensory issues. He used to scream when his skin touched water, now they can't get him out of the bathtub. Dr. J. McCandless uses LDN, removal of candida, and a good diet in her protocal which has been sucessful.

  • My little girl she is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Check out my husband NJ video about our daughter.

  • Although most autistic children can not speak, they are so desperately trying to be heard...

    watch?v=aJZ4ZWSpOqY

  • colloidal silver. monoatomic elements. the brain spectrum needs fuel to. these elements ar depleted from our soil.what do you have to lose? i have nothing to gain.rand institute did a study and showws an 80 percent increase in learnig ability.behavior modification NO.

  • Thank you so much for posting this! My daughter was diagnosed with autism 6 months ago, at the age of four. We're in the process of getting set up with a DAN! doctor and working on recovering her. I have read both "Louder Than Words" and "Mother Warriors". Both books have been amazingly helpful and uplifting, and my husband and I have a ton of hope for our daughter's future now.

  • do people with autism remain that way forever?

  • my cousin Phillip Warvill is 7.He also has autism and only started speaking just a couple of years ago.He has an incredible talent at the drums. He has just been snapped up by Earth, Wind and Fire. I have recorded albums with him and he's unbelievable. the best drummer i've played with. If you want to check him out, type in "Phillip doing his fing" in the youtube search engine. he also has a myspace if you want to check that out but i cant remember that.He looks a little bit like David actually.

  • Dr. Jay Gordon, Jenny's pediatrician, has a great new DVD on the pros and cons on vaccinations called "Vaccinations? Assessing the Risks and Benefits". I found it very helpful before deciding to vaccinate my child. He'll be at the Green our Vaccines march this week and I support his efforts.

  • what's rain man?

  • its a movie where rain man is autistic

  • that isnt how its pronuced its rainman ie rayman the movie is about this man who runs his own company he finds out that he is left with a sum of money from his dads will but its conection with his brother with autisim ( played to perfection by dustin hoffman) he takes rainman away and eventully builds a connection with him

  • a damn good one too

  • Great job Jenny! Keep on. I have Asperger and I'm curing myself. Autism is curable.

  • I too have Aspergers, and you never "cure" yourself - you'll always have that special ability to think about things rationally that most people don't.

As you grow older you learn to deal with the world around you, which is great - but you'll always have Aspergers, and it can be a gift, not a "disease" - it's all in parenting and growing up.

  • exactly!

  • Well done. Autism is curable, even Asperger's can be hugely improved with help and therapy. Never give up.

  • don't put yourself down. your not like "Normal/real diseased" people. you are you. aspergers is not an illness. we don't start wars, we don't murder for theft, we don't do the world harm. it is them who needs a cure. i am dead seriously. it will happen one day. just watch and see.

  • my son is getting better with Adult Stem Cell and mHBOT. recoveringmatthew, blogspot, com

  • Whats cool, is that this woman is not just "Looks", she's a smart one!

  • Autism is brain damage. Thank God for Jenny telling the truth about it. Now if only we could get all the aspies treated social services would save a fortune since most of them are unemployable.

  • Are you serious!?"Social services would save a fourtune"!I know many people with autism, my brother included, who hold jobs, pay taxes, ect.If you don't have numbers and facts to back up that statement don't say it. And autism is NOT "brain damage", a person with autism may not think the same way we do, but that doesn't mean they are by any means damaged!I am in college,I graduated HS,I went to prom,I am engaged, although my brother will do none of this,I consider him smarter then I will ever be!

  • Unemployable?? Computer technology, engineering, technical anything. Are you kidding me?! Without Aspies we would be living in the dark ages.

  • All I got to say is read the book. Through out the whole book she says nothing like "this is the way. you have to do it this way!" no she says the whole time "I am not a doctor, this is the way I did it and would recommend it to any one who ask." Austims is such an epidemic and some1 had to be the voice to get people to realize wow this is some serious stuff. 1 and every 150 kids have it. That is crazy! A child is diagnosed every 20 mins. Don't talk shit until you read it.

  • I have autism

  • hi r u girl or boy how old are u?

  • No thank you, Jenny. I put up with more abuse than you will ever witness if you live to be 200 before my twelfth birthday, and any proposal that I be divested of what those people abused me for is only going to get one response from me: no.

Trying healing ignorance instead. Go and ask the Spielberg family what they think of autism sometime and see what I mean.

  • Jenny McCarthy is not a doctor. Her claims have not been supported by scientific evidence and have not been published in medical journals. More research needs to be done on her claims before people change their children's diets. I hope parents don't withdraw their children from therapy based on some half-baked book by a failed actress.

  • Nobody is saying to remove the children from therapy. My son is receiving 20 hours per week of ABA oriented classroom (ISD), 4 hour per week of private occupational therapy and 4 hours per week of speech therapy. He is receiving also 10 hours a week of private 1-1 ABA therapy at home. These thing are a must ans hould not be left behind.

  • Well, I think that all possible causes for autism should be investigated and different methods of treating it should be tested. I was being a bit harsh on Jenny McCarthy because it seems as if people assume that any celeb that puts out a book on medicine knows what they're talking about and that could be dangerous. But, obviously, level-headed parents like yourself don't make rash decisions like that.

  • You don't sit back and wait for studys and testing. You do what you can to help your child. PERIOD! All her point of view is SO RIGHT. Your pediatrician will make you feel stupid and crazy. I took my son to a DAN doctor, took him off all processed crap food, took him off wheat and dairy and within 2 months he was talking. Follow your instincts.

  • Doctors are liars. Research Mercury in Vaccines.

  • Thank you Jenny,

Braden is now on his way to recovery. GFCF, Antifungal, MB12.

  • Go, Jenny! There is hope! My son has made tremendous gains from his DAN doctor. Parents who do this, and see the results want to scream from the top of the mountaintops, "THIS STUFF WORKS, AUTISM IS TREATABLE!!!!"

  • And what about those who don't? There are more parents/families out there that try and fail then thhose that succeed. Keep that in mind when bragging.

  • wow jenny just wow!!!!!!!!

  • Go girl -

  • I was born with Autism and I'll die with Autism. The same goes for my son who is 8 and has AS. What is needed is not a miracle cure, not a celebrity having "fun" with "playing God", but a better understanding and acceptance of people with Autism.

  • Hi,

You can talk, you can write you can have a relationship and have a family. I would give whatever I have for my son to accomplish what you have. In the meantime I'll do whatever I can to recover him. Thanks for your comments.

  • I hear what you're saying & feel your emotion. I was a "difficult" child with screaming tantrums, head-banging, selected mutism. My parents even tried exorsism by a Russian priest (I now have epilepsy dx). They ignored doctors who suggested institutionalisation & gave me the best education they could. By 13, I was reading & learning English by memorising dictionary. I still have problems but I thank them for loving me & not giving me up on me.

  • Go Roza! It might help some parents to understand that most successful autistic adults were once severely affected children.

  • My 1st husband (who now has a successful electronic enginering company) was diagnosed with classic Autism at 5. He didn't walk or talk properly till 7 (he's now 49&talks alot). They thought at school that he was "slow", yet he's one the best engineers&can repair anything. He was an awkward man to live with& he used to blurt out inappropriate comments that hurt, partly why we divorced. But he's honest, reliable and gets on with my second husband (NT)& adores our kids. It's not all gloom!

  • i agree, it always worries me when i hear the words "autism" and "cure" in the same sentence. i work with young adults with aspergers and i see on a daily basis how the (mainstream) world needs to catch up to the needs of ALL its inhabitants. Acceptance and social inclusion is the only "cure" jenny

  • I've not even heard of Autism or Asperger's until my son was bullied at school & suspected to have AS. I had my official diagnosis at 35 before which I had a "normal" life, went to Uni, got married to a decent guy & just put all the problems to being "foreign" (I emigrated to UK in 1990). Good education & kind people arpund is what people with Autism need, not a cure.

  • Nadez,

Thank you for you encouraging words. This really gives me hope. THANKS! I would love and give whatever I have to see my son doing that. I'm not trying to "cure" Autism. I'm trying to fix or compensate the medical issues my son has. GI problems that were confirmed by medical tests and doctors, nutritional defficiencies, etc....We can't ignore that. He has make big progress since we started doing this.

    Thanks again!!!

  • The CDC, FDA, and vaccine manufacturers discussed the results of a February 2000 study that finds a significant association between exposure to thimerosal-containing vaccines, and developmental issues like autism in children.

Some of the comments-- "There are just a host of neurodevelopmental data that would suggest we've got a serious problem." "My gut feeling? It worries me. I don't want my grandson to get a thimerosal-containing vaccine until we know better what's going on."

  • Jenny is an inspiration of hope to parents who think they and their child is victim of chance and genetics. Because that is far from the truth.

italiamom, your ignorant of what Jenny is trying to say, She isn't saying their is a cure. she is saying our autistic children are in such poor health that they can't focus. the diet and suppliments will increase their chance of being part of our world. She admits not all or most kids will have the results her son Evan had.

  • There's room for every kind of animal in animal kingdom. So there should be for every kind of human bain. Autism versus Neurotypicality is like White skin versus Black skin - why would you want to cure either? Who says one is "better" than the other?

  • I don't think it's that simple, because what if it interferes with your ability to communicate your needs, or form relationships, or to learn, or to be independent?

I understand the idea of accepting a range of neurotypes, and if you are OK and communicative and happy it's one thing, but there are people with other levels of functioning.

  • like my friend was helping this girl who was 11 and could only speak a few words, and who couldn't do anything to take care of herself, like her hygiene, or to prepare her own meals... and i think if she could have gotten help at the onset of her autism maybe she would have still had autistic traits, but she would have been able to learn more and to do more.

  • Give me a break. Autism is a disorder that hinders a person's quality of life. Would you want to be autistic or have to shoulder the burden of raising an autistic child? By the way, are saying that being black is as bad as being autistic? The race analogy is bullshit.

  • My autism has, if anything, given me a greater quality of life than I could expect otherwise. The ability to imagine things that are beyond the contemplation of my peers, the ability to experience sensations from sound, and so on, stand in testament to that. What has hindered my quality of life, on the other hand, is abuse and mistreatment, along with a big side of ignorance, from people like you. By the way, the UN's criteria for minority status makes the race analogy quite valid.

  • Check out my videos for new dad tips from new dads.

  • Jenny comes across as a female with Asperger's herself so what is she talking about, "cure"?

I look normal, I have two University degrees and I was a very difficult child that doctors advised should be institutionalised (my parents refused). I have made music videos, worked for a newspaper, wrote books and created artworks and am relatively successful in my career. But I'm still Autistic and always will be.

  • i dont agree with this diet it doenst work for every child and i also dont like how she says you can cure it with the diet. this is giving flase hope to parents who has children with pdd but dont have stomach issuess.

  • I totally agree with Italiamom - I don't like how Jenny McCarthy is so upbeat about how "easy" it is to "cure Autism" by some diet or a lot of "therapy". You can't cure Autism! Not possible! Unless you rearrange the whole brain structure (and then you may kill the person).

  • I am not a doctor, but I've experienced a severe health challenge, and whether you believe it or not, everything we put in our bodies, is a direct result of how our bodies function. Our dietary habits is a KEY Factor in our cellular structure. Don't be foolish!!

  • Youll probably want ot check out the nitrate bulletin i posted as well. Not good for infants either.

  • Sigh,i updated my bulletin with a thimerosal update and a teflon update for those who dont know. This is from canadian news sources.

  • I never grieved my sons diagnosis, not one little bit!

    It was a huge relief!

Thanks to OT, PT, Speech and wonderful teachers!

  • There are different reactions when you hear your kid has Autism. Everybody is different.

You are right, OT, PT, Speech and ABA are a must!

    Thanks for your comments.

  • parents sharing experience, but adults on the spectrum curiously lacking. not for me. Jenny McCarthy is behaving dangerously and irresponsibly. Should come as no surprise.

  • I do not agree with these comments. However they are more than welcome. Thank you for sharing and taking the time to post your feelings.

  • So, following Google ADVERTISEMENTS constitutes research? To anyone whose instincts say this is a bs campaign, I suggest you Google further than the first ad you see to where you see the acceptance perspective (maybe 5 pages into a basic search)

  • We all do tons of research Wis. There are thousands of parents sharing their experience on internet groups and this for me, along with a DAN! doctor, are the best guidance we can get. But you are right, following the first link and do whatever it says is not smart. But any ways, the message we are trying to give is that there is tons of info, so much that it could be on the first link of a Google search. Thanks for comments.

  • I just want my son to be pain free. GI issues are horrible.

  • no one is saying *real* physical medical problems should be ignored...

have you taken him to a pediatric gastroenterologist? just because a doctor pays DAN! gobs of money to attend a conference doesn't mean he can address GI issues adequately.

  • I took him to the "best" Ped. GI doctor in central Texas and I was told that the reflux was a self-estimulatory behavior that kids with Autism do for pleasure. The head banging and the rocking was just part of it and that we will have to deal with it (She used another words of course).

  • Then I took our son to, here we go, Dr. Krigsman (google him). He scoped our son and found GI inflammation, nodules, ulcers, etc, etc, etc, etc. My son was put on anti-inflammatory medications and after three months...guess what? No more rocking, head banging, waking at night with horrible pain and "please help me don't let me die" faces.

  • Yeah, it was that bad. I still cry when I remember. So, after this, do you think that I won't trust the DAN community? You got to be kidding me.

This is real. I saw it with my own eyes. I know is real and it works for my son and it could work for thousands more.

    I hope this helps,

    Thanks for your comments.-

  • you didnt do anything for "recovering" your son's autism,

    you helped his GI problems.

  • Anything? What exactly "Nommore head banging, rocking or wakign at night" means for you. I woulf say that those are Autistic symptoms right?. We are targeting multiple deseases that combine into one called Autism. We have a long road ahead, but we are doing good!!!!! My son is better every day!

  • you mean thanks for comments you approve of?

forget the comments from adult autistics or parents who have parented autistic children for years and might acutally know what they are talking about- right?

  • Sorry on1hand. I just want positive, contructive comments on this thread. Thanks

  • It is true that adults with autism now are at a disadvantage. Alot of this research and treatment is really new. Also, it is really importnat that these kids get the help from when they are YOUNG. This is why autistic adults have not had much sucess.

  • Albert Einstein was an autistic adult.

Bill Gates is an autistic adult.

Kate Capshaw and Helena Bonham Carter are pretty convinced that their spouses are autistic.

  • Helena Bonham Carter thinks Tim Burton is autistic?

I think we need to be clear about autism, and the difference between someone with mild autism or AS, and people who are completely disabled by their autism. People who function somewhat normally are not at issue here.

What's at issue is people who will NEVER be able to care for themselves, and how society needs to stop coddling them & instead find a way to prevent it.

Autism is not a race suffering prejudice. "Tolerance" isn't a solution.

  • I am autistic and NOT recovered. It is NOT

curable. I was brought up not knowing I was autistic and therefore was abused because I couldn't figure out why I had to do a certain thing or why everyone critisized me. I can pass for "normal" but would rather not. The disease is not autism. The disease is autistic people being treated like they are broken when it is merely a disability. It is

a disorder, not a disease. A disability is not the end of the world.

  • Sometimes it's so hard to hear your story. It's so familiar, it brings everything back. BUT, it's so important for families with a new diagnosis to receive this message of HOPE.

I don't ever want Gabriel to be typical, but now he can tell me how he feels, what he wants, how his day was, who he likes to play with, when his tummy hurts...

  • thank you very much jenny
