A gangsta back in tha day got scared by dizzy playing and he hands him a thousand dollars and grabs the horn and bends it saw it on Havana Nights that was when Dizzy went to Cuba

There was a bandstand accident...Diz himself may have tripped on his horn, I forget...and he decided he could hear himself better with the horn this way, so he left it, and had all subsequent horns made that way.
