ok for the words not to use in papers, is, am, are, was ,were ,be, and being are all important linking verbs and they are a part of good grammar, so you cant expect people not to use them .
@DoofasGurl102 but you could use a better verb. for example: she was tired. you could use: she felt tired. u will need to use some, but u can eliminate a lot of them.
