@blink182dawg9 What a ridiculous comment. Lots of American's care for women's world cup also. We've made it to the finals and although I support the mens team, they couldn't pull that off. If you're American, just be proud and support them both, in the end, no matter what gender, we are from the same country.
@19Ramirez10 good one "team ass" that's probably the most clever thing I've ever read. You should probably go into writing or comedy. "team ass" damn that is just so good, like wow I can't believe it's never been thought of before. "team ass" damn man you are funny. /sarcasm off
I like the fact the Ian said "oh, can you believe this?" in the exact same tone for both teams... I remember going crazy when Dononvan scored this goal. I went even crazier when Wambach scored her goal. And i nearly lost it when Solo made the save and we won in PKs. USA!!
Personally, I think this is the better goal because it actually gained respect for USA football in one moment. Ian Darke said, "Oh can you believe this?!" again when wombach scored. USA football thrills him and everyone again. GO GO USA!
@blink182dawg9 no it wasnt. i like the mens team way better but the women's team was playing with 10 players, playing against a world power soccer team, and has the better soccer player in the world.
@simpsonsfan2007 agreed, i opened two youtube tabs and played this and wambach's goal at the same time, it was fantastic. These goals will go down in history, makes me proud to be an american
if you watch the goal that happened today in the 122nd minute of the womens game today youll notice the SAME announcer says the SAME thing as this goal
@Ana1ExCavater Wambach's was great, but God, this goal was absolutely breathtaking. After all of the absolute shit that happened during this game and in the 2 games prior, Donovan scoring was the only thing to rectify what would have otherwise been a soccer travesty.
i had just gotten my wisdom teeth out and i was laying on my couch absolutely knocked out on painkillers. totally ripped open my stitches screaming for the USA! such a great moment.
2010 U.S comes in first in their group and makes it to round of 16
2014 I think were screwd ;(
WHY? we lost at the gold cup final and our U-20 squad didnt even make the U-20 world cup IF YOU BELEIVE IN U.S SOCCER THEN LIKE THIS COMMENT SO PEOPLE CAN SEE IT!!!
@KLFCreds ABSO-EFFING-LUTELY! Howard needs more credit for that outlet pass! Watch a great version of it from a camera in the stands that doesn't have the stupid TV cutaway to the Algerian player:
@durrdbyrd funny you should say that. abby wombach's goal against brazil reminded me of this goal by donovan. that Ian darke I think his name is....saying how the US is running out of hope then out of nowhere GOAL! hahaha USA baby!
This was the best birthday present ever in my life, i remember waking up and watching it until the 90th minute but then i went to go take a shower. As soon as i walked in there i heard that a chance for the US had started and i rushed into my living room half naked and started flipping out as soon as dempsey was denied but then as soon as donavan came rushing in i started screaming and flipped out when they scored. Best birthday of my life, cant wait til 2014
I was at the gym that morning. Everyone had their eyes glued to the screen, and when the goal was scored. The entire gym erupted. One of the greatest feelings in my life!
B/c it made American soccer more prevalent in the world. Next time, come up with a real argument and don't waste your time searching google for "greatest US soccer moment" lmfao,
@GUEROMEXICANO831 way to bring out the worst argument possible. Almost childsplay. That event happened so many years ago, yes it was an amazing feat and highlight in American soccer history, but what did it do for the American game? What respect did it earn? The top league in the US today wasn't even around then and didn't help to earn any respect. That's what makes this goal and placement in the round of 16 so much greater.
on this day i had orientation for my university. i only got to hear the first half on the drive there. and during the orientation we were all infromed that the us won. althought i didnt watch it live i still get goosebumps watching it.
its been a year later and i remember this moment live vividly.I woke up early in the morning to watch this game the whole way throught.I was talking outload to myself with no one else in the house and once it hit the 90th minute i thought our hopes were gone.but then it happend so fast i almost didnt relise what happend.when i hear the screaming of the staduim and saw the goal i jumped up and screamed.Never felt so patriotic in my entire life!
I graduated on this day and half my class was watching this on their cell phones when they werent allowed. wasnt as exciting because it was a gamecast but still amazing.
Mexico's main focus is soccer, and that's the majority, if you don't count their small baseball leagues. The US has 5 major sports, 4 of which are the top class leagues in the world, with so many sports to choose from, fanbases are split in parts and some sports receive more focus then others. But as our country's level of soccer grows so does it's fanbase.
@GUEROMEXICANO831 thanks for proving the fact that you have no knowledge of our country, this goal is the greatest moment in US soccer history. Also, I understand your country may covet the sport more than our country as a whole does, but Mexico and the US have entirely different perceptions on sports.
@darkslavey Greatest moment in soccer history? What about the "Miracle on Grass" defeat of England in the 1950 WC? Shows how much you actually know about your country's history in the sport.
Good game, Algeria played better but couldn't score. Who will win saturday for the Gold Cup Final? I think Mexico will, they have an explosive team...
@jkon7 I don't think USA dominates Mexico, last gold cup was 5-0, the 2007 final was 2-1, they always have close games, I don't think Mexico will dominate the US either, but i really think Mexico got more speed, ball passing, and better strikers( Chicharito and De nigris) but we'll see what happens...
@janardo Algeria played better? One of the silliest things I've ever read. Algeria had one chance hit the bar very early. Overall the USA had 10 shots on goal to 4 for Algeria, the Algerians committed 21 fouls to only 11 for the USA showing a symptom of their negative soccer throughout the match, and the USA had an extremely slight advantage in possession time. No way Algeria played better in that match.
@GUEROMEXICANO Hate on US soccer all you want but the fact is that in the last 5 years, USA has owned Mexico. Funny thing is that Mexicans know it too and they hate it... Lol!! Another Gold Cup for the US on Saturday. Only way Mexico actually won is in 2009 when we sent our third string team... Lol
@taino211 Mexico didnt have its best team either. Gringo Castro, Guillermo Franco and many others were total sacks of dung and they still ousted your boys. We'll see tomorrow night who comes out on top.
Taino rooting for the US? How are they treating you PR's nowadays? No more racial discrimination against you guys, is that correct? lol yeah right
I was down in mexico when this game was on. I was watching it live in Puerto Vallarta, with a few Mexican citizens laughing at the US attempt to win the game. My heart started to sink as the clock ran down, fearing that the US would not be able to shut up all the trash talk.
Then this happened! Those Mexican men just grunted as me and a few other US internationals were doin the happy dance
i was on vacation and got up at 6 in the morning to watch the entire match with my friend who was in the room next door. it was awesome. and then i was playin fifa 11 and i won a goal just like this
i hate when people say the fans aren't as passionate in the US. so maybe there aren't quite as many, but they are just as passionate as any other country's fans.
Yeaa like i said its not our sport. And if we beat jamaica tommorow we will get to play mexico. Ull see how the US soccer team has risen over the decade. And dont go there with the U17 crap. We won the womens world cup and we dont care. All that matters is the real world cup.
COME ON MAN. THAT GOAL WAS MAGIC. USA'S SPORT IS AMERICAN FOOTBALL. WE DONT HATE SOCCER ITS JUST NOT THAT EXCITING TOO US. SOCCER IS NOT EVEN OUR SPORT ABD WE ARE STILL AS GOOD AS MEXICO.
@MandMJustified I love American football. I played football in HS and college.
Now as far as saying you are just as good as Mexico lol cmmon man. Mexico can be in its lowest form and the US will still barely manage to beat them by a goal. And Mexico has won a Confederations Cup and a U-17 World Cup. The reason why Mexican soccer hasn't become World Class is due to the pervasive corruption of the sport in the country. So, with all due respect, you guys still have quite a way to go.
@GUEROMEXICANO831 I'm pretty sure that's just frustration since no one cares about the Mexico mnt as well. Though saying "soccer hating USA" shows that you have no knowledge of our country or how the sport has risen in the publics eye throughout the past decade
@darkslavey If you asked anyone around the world who's fans are more passionate, ours or yours, it would be a dead giveaway. The majority of Americans do not care about soccer. Soccer gets manhandled on ESPN and by just about every major Sports journalist in the states. What I find humorous is how many feel this is a magical moment, being that Algeria had a very modest NT and they had the US NT on the verge of elimination. Speaking of this event as if it were another "Miracle on Ice" is lunacy.
@blink182dawg9 What a ridiculous comment. Lots of American's care for women's world cup also. We've made it to the finals and although I support the mens team, they couldn't pull that off. If you're American, just be proud and support them both, in the end, no matter what gender, we are from the same country.

Lol
taino211 8 months ago

Those Mexican men just grunted as me and a few other US internationals were doin the happy dance

i hate when people say the fans aren't as passionate in the US. so maybe there aren't quite as many, but they are just as passionate as any other country's fans.

@GUEROMEXICANO831
Yeaa like i said its not our sport. And if we beat jamaica tommorow we will get to play mexico. Ull see how the US soccer team has risen over the decade. And dont go there with the U17 crap. We won the womens world cup and we dont care. All that matters is the real world cup.

@GUEROMEXICANO831
COME ON MAN. THAT GOAL WAS MAGIC. USA'S SPORT IS AMERICAN FOOTBALL. WE DONT HATE SOCCER ITS JUST NOT THAT EXCITING TOO US. SOCCER IS NOT EVEN OUR SPORT ABD WE ARE STILL AS GOOD AS MEXICO.
MandMJustified 8 months ago
@MandMJustified I love American football. I played football in HS and college.
Now as far as saying you are just as good as Mexico lol cmmon man. Mexico can be in its lowest form and the US will still barely manage to beat them by a goal. And Mexico has won a Confederations Cup and a U-17 World Cup. The reason why Mexican soccer hasn't become World Class is due to the pervasive corruption of the sport in the country. So, with all due respect, you guys still have quite a way to go.
GUEROMEXICANO831 8 months ago
@GUEROMEXICANO831 I'm pretty sure that's just frustration since no one cares about the Mexico mnt as well. Though saying "soccer hating USA" shows that you have no knowledge of our country or how the sport has risen in the publics eye throughout the past decade
darkslavey 8 months ago
@darkslavey If you asked anyone around the world who's fans are more passionate, ours or yours, it would be a dead giveaway. The majority of Americans do not care about soccer. Soccer gets manhandled on ESPN and by just about every major Sports journalist in the states. What I find humorous is how many feel this is a magical moment, being that Algeria had a very modest NT and they had the US NT on the verge of elimination. Speaking of this event as if it were another "Miracle on Ice" is lunacy.

"Shot felt around the world"
Please. The great majority of the world barely cared, including soccer hating USA
