@ContinentalPatriot but in one documentary it said that napoleon wanted to be called the emperor of the french, rather than of france because he insisted that he was representing the people, not the nation --to distinguish himself from a monarchy. ;o? or was it a biased account?
@chidoriookami Biased account. He said that to make it seem like he wasn't becoming a monarch when he actually was. After he crowned himself emperor he was as much a monarch as louis XVI except he favored the middle class, so it seemed fair.
In this Reply to Lamartine (1843) who criticised the First Empire, Louis-Napoleon (the future Napoleon III) resumes Bonapartism : " I do not defend all the institutions of the Empire, nor all the actions of the Emperor. [...] "Napoleon had his errors and his passions, but what will eternally distinguish him from all sovereigns is that he was the king of the people, while the others were the kings of the nobles and of the privileged."
Correct. King Louis XVI was retitled "king of the French" (a title later used by Louis-Philippe) during the revolution, until he was deposed, condemned and executed. It was an indication that the head of State governed a people for the profit of all, rather than personally owning the land the people lived on. Napoleon the Great, just like his son, nephew and great-nephew, were titled Emperor of the French for that reason.
Nice how they actually made the cannons looks like they are shooting a full load of gunpowder and flying back like that! In almost every other film they hardly fill them at all it seems.
I'm with you on the UN part but not so on capitalism. The problem with this world is not capitalism. Capitalism will determine who's productive or not. The companies that are supposed to fail should fail.
You see, the world is not truly working on capitalism, but rather on socialism and corporate fascism. The big boys keep getting bail out after bail out. Capitalism is freedom. But when you have bailouts, it is no longer capitalism, rather tyranny.
@ConstantineJoseph i agree. but if we get nitty gritty into the fray. it would not be corporate fascism that is the problem... that is only a direct result of not socialism, but decrepit liberalism, that looks to tear down any sense of intolerance or punishment, any sense of justice.
they hide behind hypocrisies of freedom and equality but instead, it divides barriers of completely different cultures and beings, the law system is broken into soup, and a country is at war with itself.
Napoleon rose on merit. Probably one of the last few leaders in Europe to ever do so.
The bloodlines of the monarchies of Europe are there because of birth right, allegiances to powerful secret scoeities, association to the elite banking cartels and the warmongers of this earth. There is no leadership based on merit, but on crony ism, suck ups, secret allegiances and sheer corruption.
If you mean the one who's always so negative, then no; he is Stanislas Freron, the representative of the Public Safety Department; kind of like the Commisars of the Soviet Union were in World War II.
Isn't it more accurate to say "...that would see him crowned as Emperor OF THE FRENCH" not, emperor of France? ;o ...

I spit on UN, i spit on capitalism, i see a generation of european students looking for a direction, they identify with change. they crave unity.
EU WILL BE RUN BY OUR GENERATION, PUT THESE FOOLS INTO THE FOSSIL HOUSES, TIME FOR REAL MEN TO TAKE CONTROL.

Napoleon rose based on his genius in battle.
