i am SO happy to find out that they make "bubble nests" when they're happy. i had had to move my betta fish many times (to and from places, and i accidentally broke his first tank while cleaning it) but now he is always trying to "hide" in the little plants i got him, and making those bubble nests. thank you for the info!

i had a betta fish once, he was a tough guy! he lived for 4 years, even though he kept jumping out of the fish net we used to catch him so we could clean the tank XD he would jump out of the net before we had a chance to put him in a bowl or something so we could clean his tank, and he landed on the floor and i almost had a panic attack, but he was ok ^.^

I don't understand why so many people like this video. When keeping a fish, you should always try to recreate it's natural enviroment/habitat. The fishtank shown is just wrong at all points. Plastic plants, some decorations, the gravel is by far to big. A betta should have sand/mud as substrate and allot of REAL floating plants.

another things bettas should not eat is goldfish food it is very un healthy for them instead get betta pellets feed them 2 in the morning and 1 at night u can get these at ur local pet stores remove any uneaten pellets it does take them a while to eat so wait 20 to 30 minuts befor taking away pellets

Dude... Did you know there is organic plants adapted for aquariums...? -.- The only natural you got in the tank is the gravel and the fish... I mean c'mon... Is that all you've got? I promise you that you'll get so much more out of your aquarium(s) if you put organic mater in it... Your fish will get more oxygen and will live a better and longer life, not to mention how much better it will look overall. Yes...it will consume abit more time but if you ain't got the time for it, just throw it away

Many people feed bettas pebble food where you can buy at any pet store.If you have it in a bowl clean it about once a week ,but if you have it in a bigger tank with a filter ,lets say about a 3 gallon you clean it about once a month, Yes you should have a filter becuase you will have a cleaner tank and happier betta and it puts less work on you with cleaning it ..Its your perfence if you want a heater :)

@CpWiser10 You are so very wrong... 4-6 pellets a day total, spread between 2-3 feedings is idea. They need a clean tank. Anything unfiltered under 5 gals need 1 50% and 1 100% water change per week with water conditioner. They are tropical fish and need 78-82*F temps, a heater is a must with them. You really shouldn't be giving out any false information such as that, that will kill these fish.

@mafia720 If you want males and females together you need a 'hareem' set up - one male to around three females. You also need a *long* tank with lots of plants to break up their eyelines - they'll still be fairly aggressive to one another, so they need plenty of stuff blocking their view and hideyholes and the like (:

It's generally best to keep them on their own though. They get less stressed that way and are perfectly happy. You can keep a male with a few shrimp happily, in 45 litres (:

i think my betta's sick, he has white spots on his body(similar to what looks like a dandruff), he's not eating his pellets, and he's always at the bottom of the tank being less active. i also don't know if it is safe to use iodized salt for him if ever he has an "ich". i really need some help. thanks :)

@yeldarbisasannin Oh! My tiger barbs had ich. Make sure you treat him daily with some drops that you can usually get at walmart. Since he's a betta, im going to guess the tank has no other fish, but if it does, you should watch them carefully, because my barbs passed the ich on and soon all my tank had it. Eventually a whole tank of fish was wasted, but if you catch it early you can treat them. :) Dont end up like me!

@yeldarbisasannin He does have Ich. You need to get some Ich Away or something like that. Also, use aquarium salt that you get from your LFS or Petsmart. Dosage for Aquarium salt is usually 1Tbs/5gal. After you rid your fish of Ich you need to get something to help heal his fins such as MELAFIX. I know you posted this a week ago so I hope this response isn't too late.

this is wrong

there is no such thing as a king betta, there are veil tail, crown tail, delta, super delta, spade tail, double tail, round tail, rose tail, plakat, comb tail and half sun. he is not making a bubble nest he is just simply blowing bubbles for fun. you must include some live plants in the tank.

last point is that you can put lava rock in a betta tank, most pet stores now have lava rock that has been treated and is safe to use.

Ok man types there are veils deltas super deltas crowms half moon plakats(strictly bred for fighting in Asia ) half moon plakats and half moons you can keep other fish with them I got Cory cat fish as bottom feeders and a female German blue ram (female because they get along better) great vid but if you put real plants in make sure to buy lights for the plants will help the growth and stop necrosis
