Its really sad that people aren't paying more attention to the signs of 2012. Yes y2k never happened. But Y2k was not predicted by nostradamus or edger casey or mother shiften. Y2k wasn't in the book of revelations either. Lets see the myans, the hopi indians, the I ching. So its not another y2k for the weak minded but a puzzle for the chosen people. Those who are not chosen will not get it.

I wonder what made them choose John Cusack as lead for this movie? he is not exactly a box office pull or even a particulary great actor. I assume they can stick anyone in the lead role as it doesn't matter because the punters are seeing the movie for the SFX
I really hope it is true, I hate this sorry excuse for a civilization, and will rejoice as it collapses. Yeah, it will suck to see my friends and family die, but that's gonna happen anyway, and there's nothing to be done about it. my final thoughts will be "no more shitty jobs, no more lying politicians, no more asshole cops! yay!!!"

There is no such Mayan prophecy. It is simply the changing of a calendar cycle. Like going from 1999 to 2000, but with larger numbers.
Even if one were to interpret this as a special date, there are more that follow after 10/2/2012, so take your pick.
Most importantly, the stories about speak of a time of transformation, not catastrophe.
I like many John Cusack movies, but screw Hollywood and their stories (or the complete lack thereof).
