  • WHATS THE NAME OF THE SONG!?

  • An Irish rope bridge in the drizzle or water skiing on the Costa del Sol? Ooh, that's a toughie (!)

  • i am from uk and i never been ireland LOOOL

my family don't want to go and there a war going on the top of ireland

  • @floralauraproactive - War is over- real demo is trying to replace the hurt between our wounded pass- There are a number of mavericks with no support -but don't let that stop you coming to the North of Ireland- land of both Loyalism and Republican roots and traditions.

  • @matinee310 ok~! i let my father know that, he told me it's still going on XD shows he knows nothing, i will go some point in my life, thanks~!

  • whats the music

  • galway

  • Discover your very own Ireland...

  • haha, love the ending

  • Hello, could any please tell what the music track is called ? Thanks

  • Well, the Giant causeway is in Northern Ireland not the Republic - differant country no matter what you say. But i do agree that most people dont know the difference so i suppose it would be better for tourism.

  • Maybe you've been hiding under a rock, but tourism Ireland is an all-Island body and has been for a few years.

  • Rope Bridge also is located in NI not ROI...

  • @MasterTomster

It is Ireland wether it be north or south boi !!!!!!

  • @Unlocktube no talking to some people, conserve ur energy i say lol

  • Pipe down, idiot!

  • Hey Everyone relax..... Its an island. Can't we accept that much.... and for all us living in the what ever part of it be proud of what we have together.

Fuck sake if a rugby team can exist ... why the hell can't an advertisment.

  • OMG ITS ME :D and it really is

  • Bit odd that the first 2 'Irish' destinations are north of the border...

  • Ireland is being marketed as an Island rather than two entities competing with one another.

  • I think competing is perhaps a bit strong, it just seems a little presumptuous and even a tad misleading to market 2 countries as one. Oh and Northern Ireland does market itself as a singular entitly both as a country and in terms of its cities, I believe Belfast has just kicked off a new ad campaign across the rest of the UK in fact.

  • They're not marketing Eire and NI as a country, (I didn't say that), but Ireland as an Island, which is entirely different.

Both countries have their own local and even regional campaigns of course, but this advert belonged to an 'Island of Ireland' campaign which emerged after the Good Friday agreement probably as part of the 'peace dividend' both governments were invested in. Your right it does not avoid competition, but it avoids the duplication of promotion. Its smart business.

  • Oh I think smart business is something of an overstatement and I also think it unlikely that a tourism campaign is related to the progression of the political situation.

I'm simply pointing out to make sweeping statements like 'The Giants Causeway- Ireland' could be a little misconstrude and is a little misinformed. One wouldn't market Spain and France together simply because they share a landmass.

  • Spain and France are ridiculous examples of your point.

This campaign was run jointly by the Tourism boards of Eire and NI. The advert is not a political statment, its acknowledging a geographical fact which allows the marketing of Ireland as a 'brand'. For marketing people its a Godsend, the fact that NI and Eire share and an island called...whats it called?

    France and Spain indeed...

  • And I personally believe the marketing of Ireland as a brand could be considered a little insensitive.

I'd also like to point out that I undoubtedly have more of a knowledge of marketing than yourself and think you're flippant remarks on the subject are somewhat amusing, particularly as the adverts aren't even particularly good.

And seeing as you enjoy getting on your high horse in regards to geography 'Eire' as you put it has not existed for a very many years. It's the Republic of Ireland.

  • You are entitled to your opinion of course, however, your initial post did said it was 'odd' not 'insensitive'.

I run an interpretive centre. I deal with marketing and tourism issues on a daily basis. You are a student. I rest my case.

I wasn't critiquing the adverts I was explaining their premise for NI being included.

Finally, I used Eire and NI as I am restricted to 500 characters. Eire is the Irish term for Republic of Ireland as stated in the Republic of Ireland Act 1948

  • and whilst I may be student (in fashion promotion and journalism) I also spent 2 years working for Taylor Herring communications, one of the largets PR firms in London as well as the fact my mother runs the marketing department of a corporate legal group. You rest your case? What case is that?!

As for your use of the term Eire, I wasn't aware we were having a conversation in Gealic.

We shall have to agree to disagree.

  • 'I'd also like to point out that I undoubtedly have more of a knowledge of marketing than yourself...' This is the case to which I was referring.

Btw I didn't think to bring my mothers achievement into it as I've learned to stand on my own two feet. It gave me a good belly laugh though!

'As for your use of the term Eire, I wasn't aware we were having a conversation in Gealic.' Another laugh...

'We shall have to agree to disagree'. Your first sensible comment.

  • Actually, one other point: given your alleged experience in marketing, I find your 'France and Spain' example of your point all the more weird.

I can only be generous and put it down to your finding the advert 'insensitive', causing you to be mischeivious.

  • The reason I mentioned what my mother did was to simply point out that actually I've been surrounded by the industry from a young age.

Speaking of young age, how old are you?! I'm not going to get embroiled in some needless and now rather childish debate with some moron behind a computer screen on Youtube.

Continue to post inane comments if you so wish (I'm laughing rather heartily myself, but mainly at your generally random demeanour) I'm leaving this here.

  • 'I'm not going to get embroiled in some needless and now rather childish debate with some moron behind a computer screen on Youtube'.

You are responsible for the dumbing down of this exchange. You turned it into a debate. You got smug too, which was not necessary.

A wise person once advised me never to argue with fools as they will beat you hands down with experience.

I don't always take that advice.

    Have a nice weekend.

  • is it the riverdance?

  • WHATS THE MUSIC CALLED??
