  • r they poisonous?

  • @Hopienme actually they are, they have dullited neurotoxic venom in their saliva

  • @seamonkeyfan90 but hey got some teeth in there.lol

  • i feed mine live gold fish

  • The Gartersnakes Evolution and ecology//Rossman D,N. Ford&Siegel 1996 University of Oklahoma, yah should read some about it, if you,re interested

  • i plan on getting one. but do they like to have stuff to climb on? what should i feed him first?

  • If you plan on getting an animal you should study it, learn what foods it eats, how big it gets, ect. I think all animals like to have something to climb on every once in a while, a hide will provide that. If its still a juvinile(not an adult) you should feed it one fish the size of its head once a week or so.

  • ask me

  • has he ever bit u?

  • No... He probably can't even fit his mouth around my finger.

  • Pretty cool snake.. Saw some other videos and these snakes get pretty big.. What part of the country do you live to find these kind of snakes?

And what will you feed it when it gets a lot bigger?

  • To catch them in the wild, you could be anywhere from south U.S.A to Canada where they have 20,000 snakes for breeding season. They can eat small mice as adults. (4-6 feet)

  • No, I've had my ribbon for 4 years now. Shes a female and females are larger than males. They grow between 2.5 and 3.5 feet. thats the biggest ive seen and bred

  • Huh, seems reasonable, but I have a little bit more knowledge now than then anyways. :P

  • ya its fun learning about snakes isnt it? Is your ribbon bigger now? enough to eat a pinkie?

  • Nah he is kind of in the middle of goldfish and guppies... I have to feed him 2-3 guppies, and he grew just not that much. 13 inches I think?

  • Thats not a bad size, if i were you id feed him 10 crickets and 10 rosy red's a week

  • Nah he wont eat crickets... I even tried making them stink like the guppies, but he was still looking for fish.

  • well just a tip, you should feed him the rosy reds...they are healthier than goldfish. other than that, the cricket thing most likely wont happen for you like you said you already tried scenting it. best bet is to get him bigger, and then try switchin him over to mice if you want to.

  • not really insectvorius not really garden snakes as people call them i know its garter i would classify them as water snakes

  • In the wild when they can't find tiny fish like that, they eat insects. Then they find fish that fit their mouth and then they move to mice. They are water snakes, but this is the western ribbon snake. Similar to the Garter.

  • im well aware of that but i have a ton of ribbons in my backyard and ive been breeding them for years now and i offered them earthworms, crickets, wax worms, mealworms and never once have i saw them eat any i counted how many there are before i put them in the vivorarium they will eat mice however your snake looks healthy replace you gravel with moss

  • Actually I have done a lot of changes, this is kind of an old video, and I guess it might differ from species to what likes to eat bugs. My friends western garter ate a small cricket, and it was wild caught.

  • cool

  • cool dude this makes me want to go out right now and find one

  • Yea dude he is awesome. This is probably my best video yet so if you like it rate it too. ;)

  • omg wait snakes cud eat guppies? or only babies. i want to know if a baby regular corn snake cud eat guppies. plz cmnt bak im geting one nd i need 2 kno

  • Well if I could understand people who have bad language skills this would be easier. Um, I don't know why you would want to feed it guppies, but you should feed a baby corn snake small mouse fuzzies (baby mice)They need to be pre-killed. My snake is a ribbon snake, they eat guppies as adults too.

  • Oh sorry about the typing i am so used to typing in 'slang' from texting. I know its bad and i'm trying to break the habit. thanks i'm doing lots of research for when i get my corn snake in November. =]

  • No problem! ^^ You should try to feed the snake a fuzzy that is as big around as the snakes biggest point.

  • nice video hehe ;) looks like your snake is just about as bright as my new boa haha

  • hey awesome video dude! much better!! but change the title of the movie. put the name of the snake in it, i mean like the type, you will get more views, and put the type of snake in the tags too! :D
