As much as I like this scene (seeing Gandalf succumb to the ring for only a brief moment, perhaps through jealousy or a protective nature...the end result is the same) it really wouldn't fit in the film. Seeing Gandalf fall prey to it, whilst the other "lesser" beings sat by... 'not being consumed' by the ring. It'd seem a bit silly.

But because Gandalf is a lesser "god" of Middle Earth, it changed the weather for a brief moment. Just like when he was at Bilbos house, yelling at him. Also, Lordabe, he wasn't bewitching Boromir. He was keeping Boromir from trying to claim the ring.

Yes, when I posted that I thought about it as well, and it indeed looks like that's Gandalf doing it all.

Although at first I thought what happened was a reaction of the ring to Boromir (since he is a man, a race disputed in the story as being easily corrupted), for that the ring is "unleashed" in some way and starts speaking while Gandalf tries to "counter attack" anything that might come from it.
