Brilliant! I really miss him (esp. as Lurcio in "Up Pompeii"), and other comedians like Les Dawson, with his off-key piano playing, and how they interacted with the audience. Tommy Cooper too.
Sadly missed.
I never even knew Frankie Howerd was gay, although how I missed Kenneth Williams is a mystery ("Frying tonight!")
They played as low-brow but it was comedy genius.

Whatever you mean by this, I agree that nothing seems to be acceptable without foul and vulgar language these days. I wouldn't describe myself as prude, but I'm fed up of this gratuitous use of vulgar language in books, films, and especially in comedy these days. The classics from the 60s and 70s prove that it's not necessary to be interesting or funny.
