i dont think it needs a sixth gear, this car is not designed for top end speed, its for launch, good mid range pickup. how many times are u going to drive past 100mph, and if u are u'll get arrested for sure. therefore i like the fifth it doesnt give you the cruise feel it still feels like a sport gear and my evo picks up like crazy. if u want speeds past 100mph stick w/ bmw etc

btw was that max out in 5 gear and if so do you think you could of reached a higher top speed if there was a 6 speed manual?

@CarJunk911 There is a 6speed manual in the MRs, and it can go to like 155 stock... 6 speeds arent necessarily better you want more compact shifts, so 5 speeds are actually better just on the evos

Any supporting mods done to this car? I don't know what the stock block is capable of, I'm thinking about bringing my Evo X to 350WHP (Dyno Dynamics), then work on supporting mods, and then work on the turbo.

What did you do for your transmission? Just replace the clutch?

Really nice Evo btw, my goal's to break 500WHP as well.

@deloreanbuyer Maybe it was because it was starting off at 3rd gear. :P Most people start off at 2nd, maybe you imagined his 3rd gear to be 2nd instead. That's why it seemed close to stock to you.

@DJSOUNDSATIONcove I own a 96 modded stang gt and an 08 stage 2 evo x. Had my stang for years it rides great but I'm always in caution when making turns. Also, the rear always pushes to the right on takeoff and it kinda sucks. Now on my evo I don't have to worry about none of that and it has a much better takeoff. Just coming from a guy who owns a RWD and AWD cars.
