  • That was a nasty looking crash at the end. Glad all are OK. My kart runs a solid rear axle, no unbalanced brakes for me. How quick are you going down there? Looks like about 80km/h (50mp/h). I've done about 70km/h in mine, but have longer steeper hills to hit.

  • Yeah, but a solid rear axle means both rear

wheels spin at the same RPM. That means one

wheel will be scrubbing off speed in the

corners. Worst yet, under severe corning,

it will cause the inside tire to loose traction, initiating a spin.

    Converted go-carts, or engineless go-carts,

are a simple, no-brainer approach. Scratch

build something fast and then you get respect.

  • Thanks Greg. I hope you don't see me as a 'no brainer'. Yes, my kart does run a solid axle, but it is not a converted go kart. Purpose built for downhilling, but it does look like a buggy. Also, I mainly drive on dirt, so solid axle doesn't really affect my cornering.

Please check out my channel for my kart build & driving clips.

  • I see what your up to now! Your off-roading

that thing! Well that is a horse of a

different color. My car wouldn't last a

minute on the roads you race down.

The No-brainer comment was meant for the guys

who yank the motor on a go-cart. You Sir have

demonstrated building skill, creativity , and

iron nards for that berm jump. Good show!

  • I would like to quote "Bluto Blutarsky" from the movie Animal House when i say "HOLY SHITHA"!!!!

  • We just like giving you shit Chris dont sweat it.

  • Glad to hear it man, I still want to be able to come out and play with you guys!

  • Well of coarse.

  • All apologies to everyone who sustained damage on that hill. I really didn't think it would be such a problem. I guess I need to pay more attention to the shut down area.

I'm just glad everyone is ok.

That said, I did warn you guys that the hill was hairy and might be too much for your brakes...

On the other hand, I also who I'm going to consult as far as soapbox safety construction. That thing really took a hard impact well.

  • Who's the kid in the green car? That car is fast! Kids got some big balls shooting through the middle of that gate full speed. He's gonna give you guys a run for your money on the next race.

  • his brakes went out.

  • Im ok, hole in my ankle, chip in ankle bone, thats why paul, chad, and Elliot, pick the courses, that was an unrun course by any of us. a little prevenative matenince on my car and that would not have happened. My Fault, thanks to all my SFVISBF Brothers for coming to my ade so quickly.

  • What happened, your brakes weren't balanced? Looks like

your car pulled hard to the left under braking.

Well, now you can build a new car!

  • brake cable came loose. no need for a new car, this one will be just fine..... you can bet on that.....

  • Looked like you wadded it, flying parts too.

Eat plenty of calcium, Tums work well for bones!

  • I guess that will be the last time we let some guy from Hot Rod magazine pick a course..

  • Get well soon bro, that looked rough.

    -Jay

  • Was not Chris's fault, we should have scooped out the track b4 hand, paul and chad did, and they knew it was not right, should of listened.

  • yep. That's how you hurt yourself.
