This video is rather brilliant and profoundly affecting. The direction and shots of empty hallways are also masterful. If they showed this in schools it would probably have a massive impact on homophobia. Thank you for making it....now get it out there!! :)
But people who automatically assume that if you're Catholic, you hate gays are wrong.
I've been raised in the Catholic faith, and I have no problem in both loving gay people and thinking about my own sexuality myself, and still practicing the Catholic faith, going to church every Sunday. Neither of my parents are homophobes, either, and at least my mom has been a Catholic for over 50 years.

@lookseeme21 pretty sweeping unsubstantiated indictment, imo.Homosexuality is a problem, no doubt. The Catholic Church will never accept that homosexual sexual behavior is ok and the Catholic Church isn't going to go away either.
I'm writing a short film about the stigma attatched to being a lesbian in an All-girls catholic school in Dublin, from personal experience, The bones of the story are completely different, but it was nice to see your take on the issue.
Hey Liam - so glad you connected with it. So sad how true it is. Please share widely -- get the message out -- and change the world for young gay people!
This is an amazing video! It really makes me realize that alot of gay people go through hard times when they come out and I shouldn't look at person's sexual identity. Their personality is what really matters.
great job, such a sad story. i'm not homosexual, but i support homosexuals. so sad that he killed himself :'( thank you so much for posting, maybe homophobics will see this and feel bad for what they might be doing to someone...
Thank you so much for that..I felt like I was watching my whole life unfold on the screen. I am a Senior at an all-boys Catholic high school now. All that keeps me going is the hope that the end is soon and near; because I can't be alone forever and I know that there's more to life and enduring al the homophobia and dark moments is just the winter before the spring..but sometimes I think and know I'm not going to make it - because I'm always left outside in the cold, gasping for air, but thanks
Hang on, baby, you'll be okay, I used to pray on the bus every day that God would end my time in school sooner, .. somehow, so I wouldn't have to endure another minute.. the teasing, the threats, and feeling so alone, the only.. but I made it! You just believe in yourself and keep your kool, you'll be allright! God bless you and all the best !
I just listened to your appearance on Feast of Fools and that's how I found your video. I think you put the pieces of this boys life together amazingly well. This is a story that everyone can benefit from and I look forward to seeing where you take it!
that was incredibly touching and at the end I was close to tears. Please never stop this kind of work, this heartfelt, passionate work. You mentioned that he never got a tribute in the yearbook, but he got this, and that's better yet.
a very beautiful story. im not sure if this particular story is true, but what i do know is that things just like this happen in highschools all over the world. I dont mean to be a debby downer, but please PLEASE do what you can to stop homophobia in your schools. You dont have to be gay to fight for gay rights. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
What a video! This reminds me very much of the young man at my catholic high school who committed suicide, and the others of us there who were so infuriated and lonely because we were forever discriminated against and looked down upon.
and that is y wen i watcht this i commended as i did! i stil feal like pain is becoming to u! but iv watcht ur other vids and c that your voice is in the actions ov ur plays! yes i am still young, and yes maybe my imatureraty plays a big part in my coments, but i feal if i was to let it go, then i would be leting them win!
so u post this to eaz ur soul? ur self pity? to make penence? i truly hope that u remmeber this and it stings at your heart forever! so walk high,u walk knowing its at a beat that some1 els wil never feal!
i know u think that what i said was not wurth saying! but how wod u feal, if what he said was ur life? and the hate u feal for the ppl that made ur life hell on earth and they just think that by posting things like this, makes up for it all?
i know that he is trying to make amens, but when i saw this it just sent me into memory overload! when the ppl that r ur friend when u need them the most turn on u! and as he said make u the objeckt of comments and laughter? jusrt look at it form the point of the ather person then u tell me what i said was not what u wod have said?
For me the story has to do with the ways that homophobia (both EXTERNAL and INTERNAL) has a terrifying affect on each of us as individuals just when we are beginning to understand our sexualities. And the sad fact is that we at various times enact a kind of homophbia on each other because of fear or out of self-protection.
Suicide is not the fault of any individual, but speaks to a the corrupted fabric of a culture as a whole, a culture which allows for aggressive homophic bullying that isolates gay people from each other and makes it incredibly difficult for gay people to support and stand up for one another. The only way we understand these things is to put them out into the open as conversations, essays, performances, videos, and to put a stop to the cultural violence that allows for gay teen suicide.
I do this work to commemorate a life that was too short. I do this work because we should be talking about the ways in which homophobia attempts to divide and conquer gay people, even if we feel ashamed of the ways that homophobia has affected in the past. I do this work because I have the privilege of still being here, and now I can use my voice in a way that i never felt I could then. That's the very least I can do.
the thing is! i was proud of being gay! i told my mother at 13, then so on at 14 to my father! so more or less if been out ov the closet since 14, and i wasnt scard of no1 and felt more free then any other person! but for this i was ridiculd and made fun of!
wich gave me i strong hide! and wod never alow any person make me feal like i wasent wurth being here! wich u can imagine made me the targt of meny ppl, but the 1 thing i could allways count on was my famly & friends(or so i thought!).
so wen u find out that the ppl that u call your friends denny having enything to do with u wen the times get hard! its even hard on the strongest of ppl let alone a 16yr old gay boy? wich drove me to do things i wish i could take back! im 23 now so 2 me the feilings r still strong and i want to forgive but i just cant!
You're telling me! Coming out can be hard enough without people making it so hard. Sometimes, you need to just get away from it all. And suicide can seem like the only way to get away from it all. Sorry if I offended you patarik22, I just need to get my point across. Coming out can be hard!
Its a shame that people have no tollerance, for things they do not coprehend. I am a church goer myself and I belive in god and the bible, but I WOULD NEVER castrize someone for being homosexual. ITs wrong. God Created everyone in his own image, and everything he creates is beautiful. I just hope that this video is an eye opener to gay bashers everywhere and to let them know that when you get ur rocks off to making fun of someone gay, it could cost someone their precious life
@Dalooni1282 "God Created everyone in his own image, and everything he creates is beautiful." Um... are you setting a fact up? IIIIiiimmmmm pretty sure its an opinion... or possibly even a guess

dance or die, just like me. beautiful and so sad, i pray that you didnt go through that. If you did, then I am so sorry, and I pray that no other child has to.
very good film! i love everything and every one coming up for gayrights and daring to be open about it. i'd love to see the day were we are just gay, bisexual or straight, nothing more. no frowns, no look away's, no 'i'm-not-gonna-walk-beside-you-,-you might-fall-in-love-with-me''s. people can be amazingly shallow when it comes to sexual identity.
despite what people think...most catholic schools NOW accpect gayness...I kno at my Catholic school I came out and EVEN THE FRESHMEN don't mind it! I still got the same amount of friends and not one person's made jokes or beat me up!
This brought me to tears. If you read this thank you muchly for posting this. Was very close to my highschool experience, though my suicide attempts never were "successful".
I just don't know what to say...I know I felt that way before I graduated, and I'm glad that I didn't do anything like that. I'm in college now and things are much better. It's sad that he couldn't wait any longer.

The catholic church spiritually murders thousands of gay kids every year in the USA, with their hatred.
And this satanic church created the closet, where gay people often become homophobes, in a desperate attempt to hide who they are.
These criminals need to be punished. And every one of you can help, by leaving this fucking murderous church.
And supporting gay rights
Remind everyone that Hitler got elected on the basis of utilizing the churches hatred for Jews. And 50 million died.
