Mostly because it doesn't make sense that anything would exist at all if there was nothing to will it into existence. Alot of scientists are also deeply religious people. A fallen Angel is only a demon if they fall through the earth and into hell. Otherwise, they are either sentenced to walk the earth as angels forever, cut off from the higher power, OR they trans-substantiate into humans when they fall.
