  • @dcentral This may be true, however, their style changes back and forth from a rigid, 1920's style, to a looser 1950's style.

  • ブラボー!!! お互いに盛り上げましょう♪ youtube.com/user/HigashiyamaOrchestra

  • this is awesome

  • You will not find a single U.S. high school music program that creates such high quality and talented brass band players. I'm speechless. And these are girls who are playing those horns crisply and hitting those higher notes with no problem. Amazing is an understatement.

  • @dcentral im not sure you can say that. that is an unfair statement by far. but no doubt they are very damn good

  • @dcentral There are actually quite a few US schools like Rio Americano High School that can do that, but yeah I agree they are really talented. I only say that because i have heard our bands do it lol

  • wow! amazing. brick the guy with the camera!

  • what a brass sound. was half expecting benny goodman to walk in! only spoiler was the idiot with his hand held palmcorder..lol

  • oh dang they're good 0.0.....espicially the brass.......and they're only in high school!! wow.

  • Por que no estan en ARES???

  • still very good though!! audio aint perfect but its the best ive found on youtube...

  • Bueno muy bueno, para la mi la nacionalidad es lo de menos, el arte y la musica no tiene fronteras ni idiomas, viva glenn miller

  • wow! I can't believe this is a highschool band!!!! They r sooo good

  • Damn! These girls are really good. And the drummer, WOW.

The brass is outstanding. Those girls can wail.

    Really an amazing performance.

  • it's really good, except the bones are constantly rushing!

  • Muy bien la interpretacion orquestal, los arreglos no me parecen los mejores, igual muy buenos.

  • TAKASAGO-- The best JAPANESE-AMERICAN BAND. C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S..... oh that drumer girl. is GENE KRUPA!S DAUGHTER. (just kidding) awsome!!!!!

  • Я всегда говорил - японци делают всё лучвше чем мы!!!

  • awesome girls. play it loud!!!

  • unbelievably awsome camera dude in te way though

  • They played so beautiful that I've never seen before. Thanks for uplording!!

  • 1:02-1:20... perfect place for clarinet solo.

  • In their later performances, they did add a sax duet solo ;)

  • @Tech502 ... I thought something seemed out of place there.

  • como se llama el primer tema que tocan? antes de el solo de bateria.. esta muy buena la big band!! :D

  • Toda la canción es una y se llama así..sing sing sing

  • the last trumpet note pulled it all together. yay @ the trumpeteers

  • wow i love japense girls

  • I like you. I like you.

  • @ferniemartinez131313 lol

dito. and the music is great

  • DRUMMERS RULE!!!!!!!!! Love big band, swing, jazz and bebop an other stuff!!!!!!

  • 格好良さ半端ないですね!

  • Buenísimo, me encanta. Saludos desde España.

  • there are two different kinds of people. People who swings and dosen't!

  • めっちゃ上手い!!

    あたしもこんな風に演奏したいな。

  • My favorite jazz group!! Your big band numbers were popular when I was in school in the 40's. I heard popular groups and big name drummers, but your enthusiasm and arrangements out does them all. Thank you for posting. I wish we could all learn from your name, "Big Friendly...."

  • so cute !!!!!!!

  • Swing girls!!!!!!!

  • awesome`~!!!!!

dont these ppl have the same (they look similair) uniform as the ppl in the movie swing girls??

  • these girls rip! nice fat brass sound.

  • I agree! Fantastic sound :D

  • So is this the real band from the movie Swing Girls?

  • GREAT PERFORMANCE!!!!!!

  • The performance is absolutely great. This is a pretty difficult piece in many parts and I thought the band did very well. However, I wasn't too happy with the arrangement. Some of the passages seem to have been simplified (I'm sure the band would be able to do the full version) and some harmonies seemed to be missing.

... (have to do the rest on another comment as I'm running out of characters)

  • je lai deja jouer a un concert de mon ecole et je ladore cette musique(a lecole Marcel Vaillancourt, laval)mais elle est un peut differente

  • c'est quelle version que t'as joué? genre.. c'est par qui l'arrangement?

  • my school is playing this for our concert

  • the balance and blend was excellent for most of it. Couple licks could be a little cleaner especially for running a little slower tempo and I don't really care for some of the articulation but it was dec

  • no manches woow esta perrisima la cancion chida chida y dhida mejor que los trijan marching band bien good good good excellent
  • this video is awesome. too bad the freaking camera man wont move.

  • いろんな意味でBFJO Takasagoには敵いませんが見てやって下さい。

  • makes ya want to dance

  • The clarinet part gave this song no justice whatsoever. Nice to see female horn player blow though.

  • An all female band?

  • No Ueno Juri? (the main actress & Tenor player) Awesome performance either way.

  • nice!!! good playing

  • lol they all hav cool hair!!

  • my band this song last year

    its a really good piece

i needs to be much faster too

im not sure if its the caption or not

    but it sounds like blairing

    but good job

  • Actually this song isn't played much faster.

Not originally at least. It's a really laid back piece.

  • my band is doing this piece now

  • mine 2

  • awsome!

  • its rly good but i think they should up the tempo a lil bit.. nice drum solo too

  • Great job girls! You rock! Domo!

  • We did this arrangement as part of a song for our church choir i luv this

  • It looks like they really enjoyed the drum solo... these japanese people are really impossible to fathom

  • Yeah, I really wonder what is necessary to make a japanese explode! Aside of that, I'm full of envy...

  • i gots two critics:

1: drum wasn't exactly like the original sing, sing, sing, nor the saxophones, but that may be the acoustics of a shopping mall

  • they are looking at that damned sheet music, and trying to play the sheet music, if you wan't to call your self a jazzband, or even a big band, you have to learn to roll with the music in you, learn the repeating phrase, and then improvise it. True jazz comes from the soul, and not a piece of paper, that was how the original Sing, Sing, Sing was created.

btw i can't do that, that is why i'm envious of jazz players, true jazz players.

  • 2: for people who say that they are concentrating, and that is why they don't look like they are having fun, that is bull.

  • @jakehr3 That is how it is done. The band arranger is like a painter who creates a distinctive style and appealing image. If they all played from the soul it would sound chaotic. Only the soloists go off music and do their improvs. This is a remarkable band indeed!

  • i wish i can play this song too...i'm playing the sasxophone which is suppose to be very jazzy but my instructor isn't into jazz...

  • I agree angleedailon, I'm in a jazz band in San Jose and I don't like how people don't look like they are having fun but we are all concentrating so much that it is hard to look good while we are.

  • jonjonjonmw how can they look like they're having fun when they are concentrating on a very difficult piece, it may not sound that difficult but trust me it is.

i really do like this band they are very good, so lets hope for great commings from them in the future

  • Trust me, I wasn't trying to insult the band, nor even give a suggestion; I was merely stating an observation. I agree with you 100% about this band - anyone I heard play this song doesn't play it nearly as good as these guys. :)

  • sure its a tough piece and everything, but enjoying the music and actually putting some emotion into how you play it makes it that much easier to play

  • Japan has the best high school bands! they even pwn moanalua (one of the best bands down here in case you're a mainlander... btw, I'm from Hawaii)

  • I love this song! It sets my moods up so high, and brings me to the dancefloor im-me-diat-ely!

  • great jazz band! heavy brass section!! cool! :-)

  • dude! sit down

  • Incredible brass section

  • The trumpet run at 2:1- is really harder in the lower range... lol =D

  • omg, its sounds just like the orginal, I am amazed, that awesome!!

  • i like it!

  • pretty good

  • I am crying as I listened to the first few notes. I've been watching them since last night. I slept for a few hours and since I can turn on my sound higher, I am here again.

    These kids are excellent!!!!

  • they are great

  • Wooaaaaa...

Sounds better thant the original... this just is amazing. absolutely no default in the playing. and god I know it's not easy

  • You probably know the Japanese just LOVE big band jazz. Check "cowboy bebop tank" here on youtube, it's addictive, done by composer / arranger Yoko Kanno

  • omfg awsome band itz by far the best ive ever seen

  • WOW ! swing It girls! Awsome !

  • That would be good playing for anyone, but for girls this young, it's really excellent.

  • I still haven't seen anyone but my school do the trombone intro! :/ Oh well... a great song no matter what...

  • Yeah, I can't find any with the trombone intro - my big band play it like that and it's my favourite part...

I love the way these girls play though :)

  • not only are these girls great, but they appear to be having fun.

  • my marching band in playing this for the parade at the fiesta bowl this year.

  • This is abslotley amazing! Were playing this in my middle school jazz class, and as of right now, we stink compared to you guys!

    VERY good job!

  • this is proof that great music is universal and will live on forever.great musicians.thanks.krupa my fav along with beiderbecke 1924-1931 krupa is the king of rock n roll, swing, jazz, etc.first drum solo 1928 on 'rhythm king' with beiderbecke,my favorite!

  • These girls are really, really, really good! Impressive.

  • lol they are not wearing navy uniforms. These are typical HS uniform in Japan. they are still in Grade 10 or 11. Grad 12 usually don't join in club activities in Japan.

  • jukiluvs, they are wearing navy blue uniforms...

  • what!!!!!! that is amazing!!! im first trumpet but noo where near those girls :O i love the last trumpet note

  • I just signed up and found BFJO. These young kids are fantastic. Do they ever travel say to the U.S. I would pay to see these kids. Love the music.

  • Why are the girls wearing navy uniforms?

  • These are the typical high school uniforms for girls in Japan. The boys were the chokers, like the Navy officers and chiefs - don't know why...but those sailor uniforms sure look a lot better on these girls than on the Navy Sailors! LOL

    By the way, ka~~kkoii~~~~~~!!!

soreyuke BFJO! And keep it up! U R awesome!

  • Geez, I still can't spell!

The boys WEAR, not "were" chokers...

    so sollie! m(_ _)m

  • yah I love the uniforms they though dont sound like high school bands though I mean we jsut in our high school band happen to have a bad year our jr. high band that I am in as lead tenor ( yay for once) is rather good we do lots of advanced high schhool medium college levle music

  • Thanks Jazzmalu,

She is the one who "repairs" the cymbal stand on "Get in Line with guests"

I have been an admirer of our own (UK) National Youth Jazz Ochestra for many years, but they have an upper limit of 25yrs.

As a non-musician I watch these BFJO videos in awe and amazement at the sheer talent and ability of these young people.I am assuming that they would be under the age of 18.

I do not understand how anyone can post a "critical" comment.

  • Is this the "Caravan" drummer playing on this track?

  • No, she isn't the "Caravan" drummer.

This band is BFJO2007. "Caravan" was played by BFJO2006.

  • Impressive!!!

  • Perfect! WOW :-)

  • terrific.....wonderful...congratulate you all and keep the good work,.,cheers, from Spain MAX

  • Wow!

  • カッコイイ!good funky drummer!

  • sencillamente extraordinario, donde estaban ustedes muchachas? Por fin escucho musica de verdad...

  • Whoa mama! You guys (gals) are very good!

  • This is one of the best High School Instrumental ensembles I have seen anywhere, doing any type of music, period.

  • They are fabulous!

  • Great job! You should check out Schenectady Jazz Band - Sing Sing Sing.

  • That was a good video :P Especially the dancing.

  • just like in swing girls!!!

  • Aww, they don't have a clarinet player. Ah well, they're still awesome. I wish our bands were this motivated. Excellent technique in the trumpets! Makes me want to play again. : )

  • It's most likely an all-girl school.

  • In most of the videos that I've seen the bass trombone is a guy.

  • prkkpt, Takasago High School is a public High School consist of both girls and boys. (^_^) It just happen to be for Team Arai, all members are girls! LOL

  • *kicks cameraman out of the way* now it's perfect.

  • totemo jyouzu desune.

    watasimo suisougakuni akogareteimasu.

    ganbattekudasai.

  • Well done, well done indeed! I feel like I'm in the 30s with Benny Goodman!

  • JOB WELL DONE! "SING, SING, SING" is one of the finest pieces in the history of jazz and popular history. Nice job trumpets and good solos from the drums there.

  • Damn, that was good! The tempo was a bit slower but other then that fantastic!!!

  • shit

    u guys are pretty good

i think the trumpets r definently the best part

  • wow, you have a lot of really awesome songs, and you play them very well!!

  • cameraman, get away!

  • Man I totally wanted to slap that cameraman for blockin this camera's view. AGH. FANTASTIC performance!

  • Alright. Should be a BIT faster to make it better, though. Good job, though. It's not an easy swing-piece to play.

  • thats really well done, especially given this is a pretty hard piece! wow. Kudos.

  • VERY well done!

  • Good Band, Bravo!!

  • NICE ARRANGEMENT

  • Nicely done! The horns handled themselves very well, the trumpets in particular. I do miss hearing the clarinet in where it would have had a solo & in some of the reeds' spots. But good none-the-less!
